  • I miss the good old day from ps1 n 2 when people didn't need to worry themselves with this crap...its like having a console that someone else controls, back in the days you were in charge ...you had your own shit and you liked to play with it as much as you wanted, but now its like playing with someone's else's shit (LOL)

  • Why r people so mad at this update I mean I install a few Linux os and it wasn't worth it, slow as heck. I'm glad they took it out (I'm a Linux guy but ps3 is not the system u want to use it from). For the ps3 hacking activity I think even I is hack coding homebrews on it would be a pain in the butt

  • This is 100% true I mean hasent anyone bothered to wonder whos security Sony is updating wll I can tell you that its not yours

  • i didint understand most of that s**t you just said

  • douchebag

ofcourse it's for security reasons, just not end-user-secrurity.

  • who cares about linux or what ever its called, im glad they removed it because now its harder to hack on

  • This just blows. I use(d) the other OS feature to run Ubuntu, and only updated for PSN. I pulled out my old PS3 packaging box and there it is, written on the side, "Other OS" under the features list. Is this Legal? can I sell a Lawnmower then later disable its catcher feature? sure its still a lawnmower, but it wont catch grass anymore. Fuck sony, this is just another nail in the coffin, next console I buy will be an Xbox, at least an xbox still does what the packaging says it will.

  • good vid. glad i didnt update

  • tylerblogger if I isntall the update 3.21 then I won't be able to go online and Playstation store and even watch Blueray movie is that true because I cant go on the playstation store unless I install the 3.21 what I going to do.

  • yeah but if you wanted it just for linux then dont bitch i am happy sony took it away becuase i dont want to play with cheaters/hackers

  • @gmorebel2007 "i am happy sony took it away becuase i dont want to play with cheaters/hackers."

    1) up until now, installing linux on a PS3 was implemented and supported fully by Sony and was not a third party hack

    2) One might hack a gaming console in order to run homebrew games or to learn about the console's innards. That makes two reasons other than cheating right off the top of my head.

  • @vientorio ha yeah you can beat around the bush all you want bro but the matter of the fact is it always leads to piracy look at the psp for example it was dark alex made it just to load homebrew then another person cam along and got iso's to boot from it dont bs me its all in an effort to get to piracy maybe not in this point in time but eventually it will lead to piracy why do you think sony was so quick to fix the problem? they learned from the psp and wont make the same mistake twice

  • @gmorebel2007 Well it does lead to piracy for some people. In the case of the ps3 though most people aren't going to have the bandwidth or patience to be downloading 50 gb ISO files for blu rays

  • @tylerblogger most games are not 50 gigs most are the same amount as the xbox 7-8 gigs not a problem for download at all so stop with ur BS

  • @gmorebel2007 ... Most games take up more than 7-8 GB on the PS3. Especially if you're talking about games that need to install on the ps3. The PS3 uses a completely different method of processing instructions. Some developers take advantage of this and to do so they need to use more space on the hard drive. Not to mention dummy files push the size up on games that don't use the full size.

  • Playstation 3: It only does everything*

*NOTE: By "everything" we mean only the things we allow. Also, we reserve the right to remove said "everything" at our discretion. By agreeing to the EULA, you forfeit all person rights to "everything" as it becomes sole property of SCEA. Use of "everything" is a privilege and not a personal right. This privilege only allows use of "everything" and as such, may be revoked at the whim of SCEA. SCEA defines "everything" as that which SCEA controls/owns.

  • You need to vid respond me.

  • eh...hacking is illegal. thats all there is to it. not too many people are too sad about it. the whole point is if not removing the feature could cause such a problem, then theyve just got to do what theyve got to do. of course they shouldnt take away features that pursuaded some customers to buy the system. but if keeping the option could have some huge negative effects, they really have no choice. sony cant handle the ps3 turning to a psp.

  • Dont blame Sony. If GeoHot would have kept his mouth shut, then Sony would have NEVER removed the Install Other OS Feature.

  • @sk8ervzla

GeoHot the guy who jailbreaks ipods/iphones ?

  • @sk8ervzla

Geohot is actually fixing this, he is making a custom firmware that puts it back
