  • i'd love to see Dawn French playing Nanny Ogg and mainly Jennifer Saunders playing Granny Weatherwax.

It's strange when i read the books, F&S came immediately into my mind.

Meryl Streep could play Lily/Lilith in Witches Abroad.

  • Bahahahahaha, I love the demon! So funny! Also love the way Granny Weatherwax says, "Oh, yes. Run along."

  • "where were ya when the vowels were bein' 'anded out, be'ind the door?"

  • hmm wounder if they ever troied thier hand at summoning Khuthulu eh hed be harder to boss round and yes why is this animated? O.o thought they were making just live action stuff. lol ''i'd like to be properly banished if you dont mind' XD

  • Does any of you know when (which episode of) this was first aired ? (would like to add this info into IMDb)

  • Don't know who's doing the voice of the demon but he's priceless!

  • @MrsNorris55 Not certain but it sounds a bit like Rik Mayall....?

  • I suppose that 'technically' the Witches should have a Scottish accent more than West Country but it sounds right. It is a point - where was a witch going to get hold of all that exotic Wiccan stuff in a Middle Age village?

  • it's cool, but i pictured granny somewhat diferent, she's supposed to look like a crone, don't know, thinner, busty perhaps,

  • @maryluny She looks exactly how I pictured her. it's Margat that looks different from the image in my head.

  • Not exactly how it happened in the book

And why is there a cartoon for an adult book

  • @rffb1 adults like cartoons too i guess ^^

  • I just realized that the demon animation is the exact same one they used at the end of the original Highlander movie!!

  • Wow...I'm disapointed...design doesn't fit...voices don't fit...and animated like an old hentai of the 70's...damn, is there a single good adaption of those awesome books?

  • @RazKurdt going postal looks great

  • @rEdhaiRedPUNKdude

I checked the trailer, it DOES look great indeed! Sounds good!

  • I remember seeing this as a kid and I was like wtf?

  • run along

  • The original of course parodied MacBeth so they should have Northern or Scottish accents rather than Cornish. Magrat maybe could be more of a flower child than she is here.

  • i always thought magrats's more of a sort of 'modern occultist' than of the flower child persuasion (:

  • well actually Lancre is ment to be an embodyment of the whole of Northern England so it really doesn't matter.

  • love this! i wish someone would upload the whole thing..

  • I think somebody did, if you don't mind the regular english soundtrack with spanish captions. Search on mundodisco wyrd sisters.

  • jane horrocks is cute but i think nigel planer nailed magrat's soppy sulky but lovable nature in his reading of witches abroad. same goes for nanny and granny - the simple-minded, good-natured northener, and the hard-headed, cynical crone. don't think these voices quite reflect the characters, but maybe it's just because i didn't see this first.

  • Magrat is PERFECT!

  • I LOVE the character designs! Magrat and Granny look about perfect, and Nanny's not far off.

  • Jane Horrocks is the perfect Magrat - in sounds as well as looks!

  • Is that Jane Horrocks voice?

  • Comment removed

  • Love this read al and seen all ican get hold of

  • i've been trying to find out for yearrs.... did this show have that white haired girl whose dad was the grim reaper? .. or something?...

  • nope, that was Hogfather

  • & Death was her Grandfather

  • Only in so much as Sto Helit, where Susan and her folks end up is next to Lancre.... supposedly.

  • yes in soul music

  • Her name was Susan and he was her grandfather, no clue though.

  • Yeah, Soul Music features Susan and Death (Her Granddad). You can get it in a box set with Wyrd Sisters from Amazon I think

  • As awful as the animation is, they did a tremendous job getting the voice cast right. Pretty much each character is as I would have imagined them.

Better casting then stick David Jason as either Albert of Rincewind, ffs...

  • To be fair I think David Jason suited Albert, but yeah, while he has the right sort of whiney voice for Rincewind he certainly lacks the physique.

  • Great book, Im reading them in order and so far my favourite has been "Sourcery"

Also its very strange to see stuff from a book animated, its like it was all in your own head.

  • Oh, god. "Sourcery" is someone's favorite?

Oh, good lord. The Apocalypse has arrived.

  • you mean because he spelt it incorrectly or because its not the funniest of the series?

    meh. to each his own.

  • "Sourcery" was a pile of crap.

And that's a fact, by the way, just like saying that George R. R. Martin writes better novels than Terry Goodkind - there's no way a sane person could disagree.

  • yes well, I'm biased in that I can't condemn any Terry Pratchett book because some of the things he has written more than make up for any black sheep among the Discworld books :P

  • I didn't read them in order, bar the first two that is. My favourite so far out of the 6 I've read are 'Small Gods' excellent book- and its a standalone book so perhaps you should read that next.

  • i nearly read all of the books, jus needa read witches abroad and another one but i forgot what it caled. pyramids and guards guards where the best in my opinion

  • I loved this scene in the book.

  • I love Granny and Nanny me and my sister got "wyrd sisters" with a bat tattooed on our arms

  • lol, I played the demon in a Wryd Sisters play!

  • How'd you go about the part?

  • eastern belly dancer type costume, green skin, lots of high to low pitch sounds to say the name...not being camp like in the cartoon, just full of self importance then really wingey.

  • the demon sounds like dale winton...

  • u know its funny im still actally in my demon make up as im writing this omment coz my local theatre group is doinf wyrd sisters

  • I fucking love the witches books

  • ive just finished the witches trilogy :D

  • The witches books are brilliant --love them ;)

  • LMAO! That was great, I have never seen any of the caracter`s in Discworld "alive" before, and it woked good for me this cartoon. Great work.

  • XD I LOVE this scene in Wyrd Sisters.

  • is that rik mayall doing the voice of the demon?

  • no but whoever it is does a good impression of him

  • You mean "camp and British"

I'm fairly certain it's Rik Mayell.

  • Yea, this is pretty much what to expect from demons, over the top but secretly camp as prince. Never under estimate wooden spoons ether, deadly weapon.

  • It's better than I thought it would be. I liked what they did with Soul Music too.

  • I CANT BELIVE IT! I have readen this book, but a CARTOON??? wow, cool

  • Soul Music too mate

  • What?

  • You can see Soul Music in cartoon too, did u know?

  • I protest at this treatment!

    Golden.

  • Captures the essence of the book rather well I thought.

  • A WYTCH! using majycks most foule and horrible.

  • That demon ssounded very umm. . . y'know. . . *muche #inkblot# ado wyth strange ande mysterykal hande jestoores* gay

  • wow, i remember this, i watched it when i was a kid.

  • i love this stuff!

    just great ^^

  • lol, the demons gay...

  • Ha! Magrat really is a wet hen. Even her giggling's wet.

I love the demon! "Ahem. I say, you wouldn't mind banishing me, would you? Only I feel much better for being banished. 'Run along' lacks that certain something." LOL! (He sounds oddly gay though.)

  • Where can i get the film? I didn´t know that films of the Pratchett books exist! It´s too cool 2 see those scenes!

  • so friggin awsome iv been waiting for this since i was a kid

  • yess i found the torrent for this movie if u want it. search "wyrd sisters" on ww w(dot)isohunt(dot)c om

    im too kind

  • Where Were You When The Vowels Were Bein Handed Out? Beind' The Door?

    PRICELESS

  • Amen to that Eminence...Nanny KILLS me

  • hellp hellp pleeeeeeeease ... i want this film...how can i get it

  • It has 1,25 GB and i donť have really speedy upload. But i know that you can find it on eMule or DC++

  • It's Great! Can You Upload the ENTIRE Thing? Please? On Megauplaod? PLEASE!

  • You can find this DVD (as well as the Soul Music DVD) for pretty cheap on eBay. They are usually region 2, but you can set DVD players to play multiple regions.
