Flags of our Father spent too much time on politics, it even had racisism planted all over it during one of the scenes when that bartender wouldn't serve one of the marines, because he's native american.

Letters from Iwo Jima is way better due to the fact that it focused on the battlefield and events happening around the men on the war front.

I like Flags of our father alot more because it has better action/story, more well done, and it talks about the flag raising.

these movies are amazing and open your eyes and puts u in the shoes of the enemy which had to endure more insurmountable odds then the allies did personally i liked the entire clint eastwood iwo jima saga and i loved der untergang but enemy at the gates, saving private ryan, and that gay old movie sands of iwo jima were a bit one sided and unrealistic

Excellent movies, both of them. I liked Letter's bit more due it being japanese side. Giving new view on the battle. I generally hate all the WWII films with few exceptions: U-96 Directors Cut, Stalingrad, Downfall (der Untergang), Saving Private Ryan, Letter's and Flags besides them... IMHO loosing side makes better war films than winners. I guess they do not have necessary of making glorious halo of rightous winner, which spoils most films.

man i saw like every war movie there is like taeguki,letters from iwo jima,saving private ryan,flags of our fathers and letters from iwo jima is the most best out of them all
