The golden hour in northern Utah is about 5-15 minutes before the sun goes down...then you have another 15 minutes left till the stars come out. Sometimes depending on cloud cover, haze and air pressure you won't even get that lol

Great photos Mark! Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh while you were pulling the needles out of your leg. Been there, done that, except I had shorts on and was running through the desert and had one jump on the back of my knee. Stopped me dead in my tracks as my calf was stuck to my thigh! Ah, the fun of living in the desert eh?? :-)
