MMA comes from a mix of ALL martial arts. Taekwondo+judo+boxing= MMA. wing chun+karate+kickboxing = MMA. Muay thai + caporia= MMA. All a mixture of martial art techniques. Traditional martial arts will rape mma people. No MMA fighter is good with any martial arts. They r just big and just rush and fight. Its basicly a street fight with grappleing. @DJBiach Your first paragraph is the only logical. The second is just a retarded statement with no real substance. Someone training in multiple arts have many more tools than any single martial art. Gracie already proved nearly 20 years ago, what was most effective in a freefight and people still spew this bullshit? Oh my god. Mma people just big? They have several weightclasses ranging from like flyweight (120 pounds?) to heavyweight.
Thanks a lot dude, one of the best teachers I`ve ever seen, pitty you`re not in the UK, learnt an awful lot from the details you go into, a wing chun teacher who knows why the art works an can explain properly, what a change !
china boxer dude i am a newbi and would like for u to help me out learning this style of fighting oh and i'm from trinidad and i am also 19 not flexible yet if u show me how it would be awsome and really need the help
Thank you, It is good to see chain punching explained this way, rather than just flailing, you have demonstrated a good way to practise with the structure in mind.
@JoshuaWGLloyd its impossible to move your arms without moving your shoulders since they are attached together. WHat he means (i guess) when he's saying turn your shoulders off is that you must keep them loose.
NO NO mma is great! People should practice martial arts for a hobby, or as self defense or for exercise! When you practice a traditional martial art you're doing exactly that: keeping tradition alive! MMA is great too, it's good for soldiers and police officers and women and anyone who wants to learn self defense! Martial arts are COOL and martial artists must respect each other. Anyone with martial training can be effective, and that's why we show respect.
@zacktillery do you know what MMA is? Mixed Martial Arts... i repeat MIXED... MARTIAL... ARTS. meaning that any martial art is welcome, to prove not only the fighters effectiveness, but also the effectiveness of the martial art itself, and wing chun kungfu is one of the most effective forms of one of the most effective martial arts.
@XDPXmoves It really should change its name from MMA to something else, because it gives children, like yourself, the illusion that useless things, such and wing chun, taekwondo, aikido, and hapkido, are actually useful and should be learned. "wing chun kungfu is one of the most effective forms of one of the most effective martial arts." What ever gave you that thought? How is it useful? You see videos of MMA being used in brawls and street fights all the time, but not kung fu. I wonder why.....
@zacktillery anyone who has mastered one of those arts will not go looking for a brawl and will radiate their power, not being uncertain at all. Thugs see that and prefer choosing an easy target. On the other side, many people who do what you call MMA, but what i call trained brawling do not only radiate confidence but also aggresion, which gets you into a fight pretty fast. You don't see the best fighters fight out there, because the best fighters don't have to fight. Si vis pacem para bellum
Chain punching begins as a simple concept drill- one attacks, the other blocks, but only after the hit, which gives the blocker the chance to develop seeing how to regain the line, & gives the attacker time to also figure out where the ensuing best line of attack is. Once this drill can be done properly you take it to the next level- once you attack, the blocker tries to block, but by the time he initiates the block, you take over his motion and throw your next attack.
I don't get it, if your raising or doing any motion with you arm don't you end up automaticaly using your sholder? Not trying to offend, nor be condescending, just a question of pure curiosity, I only want an answer, I mean NO disrespect sir or sirs.
@erecartes Yea you use your shoulder but I think(just my opinion) that he means not to relieve on your shoulder for strength but rather the overall structure of your stance to generate power..it appears to me that it's all about fluidity to generate power and not necessarily muscle power...
Thank u very much chinaboxer. Ur Jik Chung Chuie demo really helped me out. I just recently started learning Wing Chun and I love it. I cant get enough of it. I applied what u demonstrated and it works wonders. My girlfreinds nephews and nieces have fun trying to pull me down when im set in that structure lol. Now they want to learn Wing Chun. And Again THANKS!
@rebelsouljaz but if you are experienced enough the distractions and hectic nature of war is dampened in your mind, giving you the chance to manipulate your opponent giving him a fake sense of an opening and using that against him you counter and hit. I suggest you get the book "the art of war". Its an amazing book for a soldier, officer, strategist and in my experience it has helped me as a fighter. Don't just read it once. Read it until you completely understand it.
@DramaIama yeah i've read that book when i was a kid, everyone knows about it lol. Sorry but i live in a quiet neighborhood, unless i go and look for a fight I doubt I or any sensible person is going to be experienced enough with fighting so that the "nature of war is dampened" in their minds LOL. This isn't the middle ages.
@rebelsouljaz mmm, i see your pretty immature. Do you not think people give their lives on a daily basis in wars and in fighting situations for you and your nation? This is a very relevant subject fighting is not only in the middle ages. And i doubt you read the art of war as a child and i doubt every one knows about it. Firstly the book would be too indepth for a child to understand. Especially such a naive person as you to understand.
@rebelsouljaz I had better things to do as a child than reading a book. I know i could have understood it. I was saying you had no chance of understanding it because you are stupid. Lastly You Obviously know nothing about the military still. People do not exclusively use guns in war especially in war now a days. in close quarters a hand gun is nice but if you can disarm some one in close quarters That's even better, Especially when you are taking prisoners. war is not only Kill kill kill kill!!
@rebelsouljaz the same thing for snipers, a real target wont wait for you to breath in breath out and take aim for you to snipe him in the head, probably 10-20second max, and if you miss you just lost your only chance. .same thing,
Thanks alot, your advice was very helpful, i just passed my first wing chun grading, but i want to get everything perfect, this improved my chain punch technique massively, im going to keep working on it :) thanks again guys!
I ALWAYS wandered why my WC punches are so easily parried. (I am 100% Rookie). My coach always says "Relax". You explain the concept of relaxation. Thank you. I guess I need to kill the old mindset of "Monkey Copy Monkey" and start asking questions, Otherwise I won't be able to tailor my suit, seeing as my tailoring skills will suck ;) Peace!
Remember your Pak Sao and the extremely little effort needed to redirect an incoming punch by using a constant state of leverage. Everything in Wing Chun is based around fluent movement. The moment you become rigid, you're shooting yourself in the foot. It's the reason you can laugh at anyone dumb enough to say that Wing Chun is a rigid martial art. Rest comfortably knowing that they're armchair warriors who know absolutely nothing.
Hi, sorry to bother you, but can you explain in more detail on strengthening the elbow? I am having a hard time strengthening the elbow and relaxing the forearm.
If you practice it right, it'll come as freely and natural to you as a person who practiced driving standard for a few weeks. Besides, the health benefits alone should be reason to pursue Wing Chun training, along with the knowledge that you're trained in one of the world's most deadly and effective martial arts.
Statistically, a real fight would have the majority of fighting a non martial artist..thus, Wing Chun would be so quick and shocking.. the fight would be won by the wing chun. Even if performed by a novice. Im not sure what your Argument is SchizoPeanut.
@SchizophrenicPeanut actually jeet kune do's BASE is wing chun. he only added a few things from other fighting styles. so no %80 is not useless, it's the person not the art.
Seeing as how there's no categorical, concrete and rock solid evidence regarding WC's history, it's probably not best to assume that she learned it "over night."
The reason why I question wing chun is stuff like this. When are you ever going to be in a position where you have to turn off your shoulder? Fighting is so mobile no one leaves there forearm out for someone to manipulate it in Any fashion!
@HammerDimension To be honest.... I don't. ( I do a northern long fist) my approach is so different from this. IMO, I would never be as static as one needs to be in order to put into play the skill set being shown here. Or "more importantly" be so static to be overcome to this type of attack. .. I've sparred against people who do Wing chun. Common foot work negates so much of what is shown here. IMO this It's like trapping, yea if you catch the guy flat footed it works. Continued..
@HammerDimension In the past I've noticed a nasty habit most of the Wing Chun'er I've sparred with have. (IMO...because of drills like this) they tend to focus way too much on the high gate and ignore the middle and lower gates. But in all honesty I'm being way to critical.. because if living in a crowed city riding the subway everyday... I can think of no better art to practice. Its fast as hell and close up probably one of the best arts out there.
Those samw WC guys aren't probably trained as much as they should be. There's always a stress on the centerline, and guarding it, so subconsciously I've noticed a lot of new students automatically assuming that their opponents will do the same. It depends who is teaching you, as well. There are bad habits you can develop in WC, just like any martial art. Also, WC doesn't teach many kicks until much later on, which is a disadvantage for one who could attack the lower half.
When you learn the fundamentals of Wing Chun, everything becomes clear. I questioned EVERYTHING about it as I started to learn, but I always got an answer, and it was a wise one. Most times, my answer involved going home VERY, VERY sore for the next few days. It's different when one explains why you do something in Wing Chun. It's quite another when someone "demonstrates" it on you, live. You learn VERY fast :)
@MaestroDraven I don't doubt this... It's just so alien to PiguaQuan . Bottom line... Guys if it works for you then go with it! That's half the battle... However... I'll throw out the cation card again. IMO ...The guys I was sparring where very accomplished at Wing Chun (My Bud.. a 15+yr practitioner of Ip Man linage ) I find it hard to believe they sucked and I am this all mighty god at Quan fa. I attributed my dominance to them not having the ability to keep me static. continued...
@Blueslicks321 Gone is the ability to trap or use skill sets like being shown..I can't stress this enough times.... Try sparring a boxer in your area and you will see what I mean... I guess what I am saying is don't be like my Wing Chun buds go get out and cross train your Wing Chun against other arts.. so your not lost when you can't use your initial "bread and butter" skill sets...
There are several variations on Wing Chun as well, not just Ip Man's. Right now I'm learning a combination of 3 separate variations, each with their own maximized strengths. The idea is to at least try to develop a very efficient regiment. You're partially right about trapping against a boxer, but keep in mind that WC is less about trapping and more about direct strikes. Boxers are ranged fighters. WC fighters are up close. We get in close to hit hard and end the fight.
Dont strike like this excep if you dont wana to break your wirst.Thos os fucking shit.......Strike like this in real fight,you will broke your wirst...
FIST NEED TO BE TIDE.....NOT REALEX................
@WowPwnageCurseless which is easier to break, a toothpick or a rubber band? learn common sense dude, and learn proper english TIGHT not TIDE, RELAX not REALEX >_>
@WowPwnageCurseless You are relaxed until your hand touch the target (Set the nail), then you apply force, tightening your arm and fist and pushing with the body (Use the Hammer)
Small question; what about the resistance in your wrists, when having the forearms relaxed? can't you get injured? I practice chain punchin in silat and Street boxing, which is different than the wing chun punch...but I'm always learning from my injuries and mistakes...and vids like yours are a blessing... thank you!
The former were burned because of their active promotion of error.
Apostates are 'merely' the fallen. We rarely burned them. We excommunicated them, grant them life yet as non-persons; and in this case we never mention them in a Wing Chun context.
You keep saying 'WRONG' ..........personally i think you are 'WRONG' too but it would be provoking 'polictical' to post a vid to show otherwise. Maybe choosing to say and 'ALTERNATIVE' or 'ANOTHER WAY' etc might be better received. Afterall i am 100% i have a better understanding of the basics of LWK than you do !
I took your advice by Hammering my shoulder and cutting off my forearm when I was in the middle of a fight so eitherway the technique right or wrong I still ended up in the hospital
hey man i started practicing my first day and i relaxed my shoulders but somehow i still felt my shoulders burn from punchin too much. And is there a different way for my returning hand to not hit my other hand?!?!
@DizzyDerwish@DizzyDerwish Its funny, every other WC master but the one "you" train with is a charlatan. This leaves us with a paradox. Every WC instructor appears to be a charlatan. Good luck to everyone I guess.
My line is Yip Man-> Ho Kam Ming-> Augustine Fong.
I respect the legitimacy of one other first-generation HongKong practiononer... Wong Shun Leung, who has left behind many people who know what they're doing.
The rest, & those since, self-promo as masters yet have never completed the system. viz. Wm Cheung, Hawkins Cheung, the Euromonopolizer Leung Ting; Moy Yut; the Ip brothers & YOUR teacher.
The only 'paradox' is Emin Boztepe, a Leung Tinger who smartly branched off.
@DizzyDerwish Um you seem to think that Yip Man had a monopoly on WC. He didn't. There are appear to be several legitimate (as well as numerous illigitimate) derivations of WC. I'm glad you you love your lineage, but, as I said, WC isn't now, and wasn't then, the sole intellectual property of Hong Kong WCers. I would say the WC I learned was as effective as anything I've seen anywhere else (I myself am certainly no master). I don't care particularly about your lineage.
@DizzyDerwish citing your lineage amounts to an appeal to authority, Which is essentially bullshitting until you adduce something of substance that supports your charges. If you think you have something that might improve the techniques on offer by Jin, by all means offer that. Legitimate critique? Man go for it. A video response wherein you demonstrate some salient point, I am all freakin ears. But "My master says your master is bogus." Don't waste people's time.
1) Citing my lineage is simply stating the authority by which I speak.
Everything I say about WC carries YM's posthumous approval which, like it or not, is pretty much the gold standard.
When you'd said "Its funny, every other WC master but the one "you" train with is a charlatan," I thought you were wanting to know my background; I gave it as free info for you to know who's talking to you.
2) I DID give a legit critique of Jin's concepts if you'll reread.
Chain punching begins as a simple concept drill- one attacks, the other blocks, but only after the hit, which gives the blocker the chance to develop seeing how to regain the line, and gives the attacker time to also figure out where the ensuing best line of attack is. Once this drill can be done properly you take it to the next level- once you attack, the blocker tries to block, but by the time he initiates the block, you take over his motion and throw your next attack.
Its a shame we could'nt have seen that chickin-ju-choi done fast.........in the real world only usefull 5% of the time, [against a good fighter that is] I'ed like to see someone force down one of my chickin-ju-choi's, thir served up double quick........
5000th of a second to force someone's arm down I dont think, thats why no Wing Chun fight looks like it does in practice.
Dont think im nocking the punch........I use somthing very close to this, I've never needed more than one....
the explanation is very good but as a begginer to wing chun i would of liked to briefly see the stance or feet alignment. very good explanation though thanks
@Th3Duud LOL bro??? We're bros now? Pffft don't make me laugh. Try focusing that energy spent on stalking me like a little girl all day, and redirect it to some training and find out.
@jamespohh Tut, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings brooo, I just find it very amusing winding you up. Besides being a racist dick, I think your very entertaining! ;) Spaking your ass is FUN!
@Th3Duud Hah, go buy a TV if you want entertainment. Go ask your parents to make you a sibling. Um yea sure. You haven't done anything except hide like a sissy.
@jamespohh Come on, admit it, I spanked that ass red, and on more that one occasion! ;) I have a TV believe it or not, it's just that laughing at your weak comebacks are much more entertaining. But if I've upset you, I won't bother you again. But try to be nicer to people, treat them as you would like to be treated. When you act like a racist dick, you paint a big target on your back, and that's how I found you. Anywho, all the best and good luck with the JKD. Take care.

Amazing! A female monk who developed this system of fighting pretty much over night takes you guys years to develop.
halon08 7 months ago
@halon08

Blueslicks321 8 months ago
@Blueslicks321 Doesn't sound like you really understand what he's trying to teach.
HammerDimension 8 months ago
@HammerDimension To be honest.... I don't. ( I do a northern long fist) my approach is so different from this. IMO, I would never be as static as one needs to be in order to put into play the skill set being shown here. Or "more importantly" be so static to be overcome to this type of attack. .. I've sparred against people who do Wing chun. Common foot work negates so much of what is shown here. IMO this It's like trapping, yea if you catch the guy flat footed it works. Continued..
Blueslicks321 8 months ago
@HammerDimension In the past I've noticed a nasty habit most of the Wing Chun'er I've sparred with have. (IMO...because of drills like this) they tend to focus way too much on the high gate and ignore the middle and lower gates. But in all honesty I'm being way to critical.. because if living in a crowed city riding the subway everyday... I can think of no better art to practice. Its fast as hell and close up probably one of the best arts out there.
Blueslicks321 8 months ago
@Blueslicks321
MaestroDraven 8 months ago
@Blueslicks321
MaestroDraven 8 months ago
@MaestroDraven I don't doubt this... It's just so alien to PiguaQuan . Bottom line... Guys if it works for you then go with it! That's half the battle... However... I'll throw out the cation card again. IMO ...The guys I was sparring where very accomplished at Wing Chun (My Bud.. a 15+yr practitioner of Ip Man linage ) I find it hard to believe they sucked and I am this all mighty god at Quan fa. I attributed my dominance to them not having the ability to keep me static. continued...
Blueslicks321 8 months ago
@Blueslicks321 Gone is the ability to trap or use skill sets like being shown..I can't stress this enough times.... Try sparring a boxer in your area and you will see what I mean... I guess what I am saying is don't be like my Wing Chun buds go get out and cross train your Wing Chun against other arts.. so your not lost when you can't use your initial "bread and butter" skill sets...
Blueslicks321 8 months ago
@Blueslicks321

Small question; what about the resistance in your wrists, when having the forearms relaxed? can't you get injured? I practice chain punchin in silat and Street boxing, which is different than the wing chun punch...but I'm always learning from my injuries and mistakes...and vids like yours are a blessing... thank you!
SabiaCDO 9 months ago 12
@SabiaCDO Being relaxed, breathing all leads to faster and stronger punches with practice. If you put force, you tire out very quickly.

Can we all PLEASE agree to leave the Wing Chun apostate-turned-celebrity Bruce Lee out of any discussion of Wing Chun?
DizzyDerwish 10 months ago
@DizzyDerwish I cannot believe you used the term apostate. Were he still alive should he be put to death?
Godsmasher22 10 months ago
@Godsmasher22
You confuse "heretic" with apostate.
The former were burned because of their active promotion of error.
Apostates are 'merely' the fallen. We rarely burned them. We excommunicated them, grant them life yet as non-persons; and in this case we never mention them in a Wing Chun context.
Here endeth the lesson.

OMG. I just realized he said "Hawkins Cheung."
I should have known! One of the biggest charlatans in the bizz.
Good luck, goodbye! You're on your own!
DizzyDerwish 10 months ago
@DizzyDerwish @DizzyDerwish Its funny, every other WC master but the one "you" train with is a charlatan. This leaves us with a paradox. Every WC instructor appears to be a charlatan. Good luck to everyone I guess.
Godsmasher22 10 months ago
@Godsmasher22
DizzyDerwish 10 months ago
@DizzyDerwish Um you seem to think that Yip Man had a monopoly on WC. He didn't. There are appear to be several legitimate (as well as numerous illigitimate) derivations of WC. I'm glad you you love your lineage, but, as I said, WC isn't now, and wasn't then, the sole intellectual property of Hong Kong WCers. I would say the WC I learned was as effective as anything I've seen anywhere else (I myself am certainly no master). I don't care particularly about your lineage.
Godsmasher22 10 months ago
@Godsmasher22
Okay.
DizzyDerwish 10 months ago
@DizzyDerwish citing your lineage amounts to an appeal to authority, Which is essentially bullshitting until you adduce something of substance that supports your charges. If you think you have something that might improve the techniques on offer by Jin, by all means offer that. Legitimate critique? Man go for it. A video response wherein you demonstrate some salient point, I am all freakin ears. But "My master says your master is bogus." Don't waste people's time.
Godsmasher22 10 months ago
@Godsmasher22
All freakin ears?
Then here you go, a golden opp to learn what chain punching truly consists of...
Watch this from one of my brothers in the system:

@DizzyDerwish Your link is busted.

@Godsmasher22
I tried it just now and the link worked.
Try it by title then:
Wing Chun : Domination - How to properly chain punch
DizzyDerwish 10 months ago
@Godsmasher22
To be clear:
1) Citing my lineage is simply stating the authority by which I speak.
Everything I say about WC carries YM's posthumous approval which, like it or not, is pretty much the gold standard.
When you'd said "Its funny, every other WC master but the one "you" train with is a charlatan," I thought you were wanting to know my background; I gave it as free info for you to know who's talking to you.
2) I DID give a legit critique of Jin's concepts if you'll reread.
DizzyDerwish 10 months ago
Chain punching begins as a simple concept drill- one attacks, the other blocks, but only after the hit, which gives the blocker the chance to develop seeing how to regain the line, and gives the attacker time to also figure out where the ensuing best line of attack is. Once this drill can be done properly you take it to the next level- once you attack, the blocker tries to block, but by the time he initiates the block, you take over his motion and throw your next attack.
THAT is chain punching!
