Is it not possible to emulate a dreamcast on a portable now? I can't imagine carrying around a portable cd player game system, that thing must suck through batteries pretty quickly

@SunbeltRyders Nope, there is no Dreamcast emulator written for any handheld today, and it would have its issues anyway.

Someone has been doing progress on emulating the optical disk from an SD card. For now it still needs CD to bootstrap, and the performance is pretty bad, but i think this can be ironed out with some more effort. Once it's finished, firmware can be hacked to avoid needing the drive altogether.

Pretty nice build considering you have to deal with the cdrom drive and a separate screen. Are you sure this is a chinese build or is it a BEN HECK design? It looks like his work.....he is the king of console hacking so I guess its natural for this one to look similar. good work.

You just glued a dreamcast underneath a generic monitor and wedged in the controller. Plus the battery hangs out the back on a wire.

At any rate, watch the other video. He turns it over and you can see that it's all just a standard dreamcast with the outer casing removed, but with the drive door left on.
