@CJBojangles THANK YOU, you have just confirmed something I knew I saw on TV all those years ago. Somewhere, I saw a list of names of substitute hosts on Password, and I kept telling everyone that that list was wrong.
Betty White's name wasn't on that list.
I was only 4 years old when this was on; I used to get this show mixed up with the show with "For The Fun Of It" as it's theme; the '71 to "75... OH, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
And I knew what I was talking about. THANKS again!
Despite the quality, it's great to see this episode posted. Thank you for sharing it.
As to the gameplay itself, I agree that this version of "Password" had the weakest format. Raising the winning score to 50 points and adding the doubling option were good touches, although it may have worked better if each team could only use the double once. Apart from that, the qualifying round added a needless and tedious layer and the formula for the cash prize in the lightning round was complicated.
That was a horrible version of Password. Password Plus was the best version of all the Passwords. The sad thing was Allen did not live through the entire run of that. He was diagnosed with cancer a year after Password Plus came out and was forced to leave the show after nearly two years. Very sad.
Sheesh, wonder where you got this from. My copy's audio is MUCH better than this, and I'm pretty sure I was one of the folks that helped pass this one around. One of the reasons why I don't do VHS trades anymore. ;) Pretty sure the bit at the beginning is NOT the slate, and is instead a title screencard created by a trader, especially considering they even got the airdate wrong.
I never liked watching the very end of this ep. because of them promoting the following week. It made me think "Why couldn't they preserve that ep. instead of this one?!?"
Ten years later, in 1985, Betty and Vicki were pitted against each other on Bert Convy's "Super Password." :-)

This actually was closer to the end of this version than the beginning. Thanks for the comment.

@gamelover1949 what meant was this version meaning the last month when they brought the contestants back before being cancelled

This couldn't be March 8, 1975 because that was a Saturday. I'm betting on March 7.

According to the ABC Password Celebrity Archives, this was from March 14, 1975.

At least I got the month right (I think). :-D

This is actually from March 7, 1975, not March 8.

The slate (which is very briefly visible at the beginning of the video) says March 8 was the ABC airdate. That's what I based the info on.

Not every video will be crystal clear. This version of Password is very rare, so this is better than nothing.
