I went through Kinglake area 2 days ago (4th Oct) and even before I reached the bushfire affected areas I could notice a strong burnt smell. This is 8 months after the fire.
What time was this taken, cause I remember when I was heading to traralgon from my place (I live on the hills that aren't burnt), it wasn't quite that big, but it was really dark, and spreading across the hills.
Interesting thing about summer in Victoria 2008/2009, it was below average temperatures for the 3 months of summer, only 10 days over 35 and 5 days over 40.
Out of 3 months it's been a short but hot summer, don't believe the hype about man made climate change, there is more and more evidence the eco freaks are using disasters as an excuse to push there cause and to exstract our hard earned money out of us.
Excuse you? I dont think you and that other guy should argue anymore on my video, fair enough you have a dispute, but could you take it up somewhere else please.
Why don't you get out of Australia if it is so bad, and go and practice you 12th century bullshit religion somewhere else. We don't need you. Peace Muslims are welcome. Fuckwit Islamists like you aren't.
That fire is really fast approaching! It's horrible to think of the many people who tried to get away and couldn't! I read about an elderly couple whose 53-year-old disabled son lived with them. They tried to get him and evacuate as quickly as possible, but they weren't able to.
Devastating to hear about that, many people have perished in there fires, but it's he physically challenged that have it hard when they are trying to evacuate.
There are very upset people over these fires there will be retribution for some not for the dead. I hope the ghost of them send him bananas if he has a soul at all.
settle up there mate. Why slag off at Muslims for this? THey didn't light it. Don't bring your racist remarks to a bushfire video, they aren't welcome.
Buddy, why don't you piss off out of Australia if you hate it so much. You're comments left on the bush fires videos clearly show you have a grudge against Aussies, so why are you here?

Its too late now but next time the government should be prepared ready to evacuate anyone with black hawk helicopters in the line of fire. This was a foreseen event and yet the government made no provisions for evacuations. We send troops and helicopters to war to defend our nation and yet we dont do the same to protect our citizens.
God bless Australia and the real heroes the cfa and all emergency crews.
do you have any idea how many helicopters they would need? they all need a place to land. and they cost a fortune. the government should have prepared better, but not with a bunch of helicopters.
well, the next years you will probably be save from fire in these regions where it burnt this year, now you should use the time to build shelters/bunkers and to build huge swathes around every citiy and settlement to prevent such a disaster may recure in future
forest fires are a part of nature, the best solution i can think of is fireproof building materials, and also underground fireproof shelters like a cellar
one of the most dangerous forrests i have ever ridden in alot of this forrest has no access thanks to dse closing tracks down and majority has not been burned for decades thanks to the greenies. harsh but it is the reality of victorian forrests
consider that these fires were so bad because of the long term effects of 12 years of drought, and record heat, ie becuase of global warming, im not sure how you can blame bob brown. if it is because of the tardiness of back burning and bush control burning, then get your facts straight ... but that is another story.

Most of you knockers live with ya mums so have nothing to loose anyway so you don't matter.
Dw, it does look pretty friggin scary, and i would have gotten out if i needed to, but at that moment, there was no iminent danger, the firies in the area would have made an alert for evac if needed.
yer good luk to all u Victorians, i live in NSW but we nearly had to evac because of the Mt kuring-gai bush fires, but that was nuthin compared to this, they say the energy output was 600-700 times the size of the hirshima bomb
I live in Morwell up on the hill and watched that happen from my front yard with concern as I am a ex fire fighter(cep/nre summer crew). After a perfectly calm blue morning within a hour the strong hot wind passed by us I found that even my letterbox had hot ashes inside it.
If someone could view this frame by frame could that have a look at .20 black thing above helicopter and again at 1.38 to the left of the smoke, a circular slivery white thing appears and disappears.
@ Advicedog - nevertheless, it's not a nice thing to say. NO ONE deserves to have their house burnt down - just remember, that if you've been wronged, that person will get their just rewards times three in all due time. I know, it's happened to several of my exes

It's terrible mate. I was watching the news last night and it showed a clip of your Prime Minister and it's not often you see someone in a position like that visibly upset. Was just having a quick look on google maps at the areas affected here, to have it in 3 states must be awful because Australia is such a huge country. The snow and cold here can be bad but it doesn't have anywhere near the impact as the fires there, you can see how much people have lost on the news clips through their tears.

I've actually been pretty close to a bush fire (about 6 metres, sitting in the car on the side of the road) and watched it sore up out of the trees and it was scary. I told my uncle (who was driving) to turn around and go back the way we came and he called me a wimp lol. :)
Thanks, it's ok, it didnt come any where near us thank goodness, it is practically burnt out now, we just got alot of smoke and dust and some ash last night it was very dark, no embers. Thanks though
