I've always loved Louis Armstrong & that whole very creative generation of performers which included many of the people in the video. I saw Lena Horne, Billie" Lady Day" Holliday,Dizzy Gillespie(of the expanding cheeks) and I think, Duke Ellington & others. I loved Armstrong's singing--that gravelling voice combined with the jazzy improvisation of his style, which were as good as his horn playing. I loved him(which you showed)singing"Now You Has Jazz" with Bing" der bingle" Crosby. Thanks Ellen.
Wonderful video of the all time jazz great Satchmo! "Love You Funny Thing" is such a nice pop tune of the early thirties too. This should make you a million hits in no time from the jazz world at large! Congrats on a winner! I hope it gets included by Youtube into an Armstrong jazz collection playlist. Great pics you found too! Enjoyed it alot. Thanks! Biff
@2reeler I noticed that a lot of the videos to the right have over a million views. I did not know that when I made the video. I guess that I could start a Louis Armstrong playlist myself later. Thank you for the suggestion. I do have one video that has like 10,000 hits so far. Most of my videos do not get that many views so far, so I was surprised. And I found out with a search that it was on a playlist, which put it closer to the top of the list.
@genia106 I used to like seeing Louie on TV back in the sixties. I am too young to remember the Cotton Club. I know that it takes a lot of work just to smile big like he did. I guess that it becomes a habit. Thank you for your nice comments. I like the nostalgic music too.
@TemoinsGirl Thank you for watching. I still plan to make movie star videos. But I think that I will focus on more jazz musicians, so that I will have a bigger collection than I did last February during Black History Month. I just wonder when I will get tired of making videos in general.
A really excellent video tribute to the incomparable Louis Armstrong and a great music choice as well Ellen,I haven't heard this song by him for a very long time !
@Shabannie The way I heard it, a member of the audience at one of his shows said " that guy got a MOuth like a SATCHel. Somebody put the words together Satchmo and it stuck thereafter!
@Bigband78 I think that the music is very pleasant and nostalgic. Thank you for your nice remarks. I am glad that you liked it. I will post more jazz later, but I do not always use jazz music as you know.
@Accordioncrasy I did not know that you were an Armstrong fan, but I thought that you might like this music. I am so glad that you watched this video!
@fraaaaaag Thank you so much for looking at my channel again! Louis Armstrong must have been very busy. I will probably use more of Louis's music in something else later.
@countrychloe I used What a Wonderful World with my first Clara Bow video. Barbra Streisand from Hello Dolly gets to be in this video. I had thought about making a Hello Dolly video about the plays and movie.
Hi Ellen,
Perfect chosen pictures for this tribute video. Wow!
Many thanks for the great experience

Ellen, to coin a phrase from a bygone era, "you said a mouthful, kid!" But you
said it with some fantastic photos especially of Satchmo when he was a
young man at 1:48, 1:58 & 3:27! A Who's Who of black culture, LA's photos with
Bilie Holliday, Ella Fitrzgerald & others simply rock! His was a vital life force that
had to be expressed & knew no bounds! Tony Bennett used to say that Arm-
strong gave jazz its worldwide appeal uniting people from every culture!
Great tribute to a legend!
