But the whole concept of the characters is lost for anyone born after 1980. The term "hawk" gets used occasionally for aggressive foreign policy advocates but I really don't think it is the same as during the Vietnam war when people were getting drafted and there was a fairly aggressive anti-war movement.
Hawk is like his namesake, as Dove is innocent and non-violent.
I do suppose Hawk and Dove have lost their historical significance though their characters have evolved into rather entertaining, motely colored C-List heroes (who only seem to show up during the direst of situations).
While "hawk" survives in a fairly limited context and might be understood, I don't think anyone has used the term 'dove" to refer to a nonviolent (or at least anti-war) person in the last decade.
There is no real resonance with the names anymore, hence the characters get sillier and sillier and soon they will move to the D-list from the C-list.
Wow, I never realized that Brother Eye was part of the original Jack Kirby OMAC mythos! I always thought the satellite was a new thing for Infinite Crisis! In fact, for a second I thought that they were combing the old and new, like they did with the Blue Beetle and stuff (and they're going to do with Firestorm), but I checked and it turns out Brother Eye really wasn't created for Infinite Crisis. Who knew!
Kafka made his original appearance in OMAC on. 3, Jan/Feb. 1975! Great comic. Too bad it only lasted 8 issues with Kirby at the helm.

In 2005's Teen Titans storylines. They appeared twice... the boy's female replacements that is.

Where Hawk and Dove EVER cool?
Seriously, their entire concept is incredibly iffy to me. (And Hawk's an unlikable douchebag.)

@Shavarnarak Hawk was, and is. Dove was a fag. The original Dove was. Dawn Granger as Dove is awesome.
