  • I keep coming back to this video, not only for inspiration but the great memories I have of Rev. Nicks and Jimmy D directing. Thanks for keeping it posted.

  • This is when the now razed Ford Auditorium was Holy Ghost headquarters at the "O Give Thanks" concerts presented by St. James Baptist Church annually on the Monday before Thanksgiving. We are all the better for having experienced such joy.

  • SING CHARLES

  • I will love you forever Pastor Charles Nicks Jr Howard L, S. Sadler St. James my first church home.

  • btw, a lot of St. James songs are now available on itunes, including many of the soloists.

  • Every song Rev. Nicks sang was awesome! This is just one example.

  • This reminds me of old Morning worship services at my church, First church of Delverance. There's nothing that can take place of the traditional church music, it always have a message. I LOVE IT!

  • This song makes you Pat your feet, clap ya hands, and get ya praise BOUNCE on. Aint nothing like the ole school beat!

  • Every posting and song St. James does now is a classic. I love the way St. James have church; reminds me of my home church services, Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, Illinois, Rev. Clay Evans, Founder and Pastor. We churched like St. James every Sunday morning and afternoon. It appears that the day of having church like these two churches are almost gone. We would from service wore out, but a good tired feeling of joy.

  • can i get a copy of this on dvd

  • i need a copy of this on dvd real bad

  • RIP Reverend Nicks, Your Legend will Live On My Heart. My Favorite song is "I Can Depend On Jesus & His "Come To Jesus"

  • Marcell, wonderful memories. God bless you.

  • Are they original people who recorded this song?

On a side note Im beginning to think Mississippi Mass Choir has re-recorded every single song from back in the day.

  • yes St. James recorded this song first.

  • This is a congregational song. You all are talking about "This Morning When I Rose" which is a Dorothy Love Coates arrangement. most of Mosie Burks (mississippi mass) songs are old Dorothy Love Coates Songs. EVERYBODY covered EVERYBODY'S stuff back then.

  • That is what the mississippi mass choir has done.

  • this was a medley of congregational songs

  • Yall Better Sang It St. James!!

  • That's Detroit!!!!!!!!! And thats the one and only Bishop Andre S Woods on the organ. He plays the classic St. James style.

  • You are so right! Bishop Andre S. Woods is from the school of Nicks! He is by far and away one of the baddest organists I have ever heard! And Detroit has some great ones:Tony Lucas:Rudy Stanfield Jr:Daryl Huston and Brian Watkins are just a few that quickly come to mind. Woods once said he plays in his sleep...and I believe it!

  • I believe this was at Ford Auditorium

  • OMG, where did you find this!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!

    dex (zm)

  • At :50 Uncle Rev. looks back @ the choir like-"what the..."- but the it pans out and they are rocking in unison while seated.

    That's gangsta!!

ST.JC straight ruled Detroit around this time (1984):

sung for Pope John Paul the 2nd in sept of 1987:

    Oh give thanks tickets? $15

16 classic recordings on Savoy and (mostly) SOG Records? $20 per album

    Rev.Charles H. Nicks,jr. and the St.JAmes Choir?

    Pricless!!

  • I like that!!! You are so right.

  • This is my favorite church choir! & L@@K @ uncle J.D direct! NOBODY DOES IT LIKE ST. JAMES!

  • Alright Now, That's Ole School Church!

  • LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

The choir at my church sings this lil St. James! But nothing beats the original.

and man, can somebody say JIMMY DOWELL!

I love how the choir is sitting, but still on one-accord, rockin the same way!

  • I WAS THERE!!!

  • I know you had a ball. I can see that it was going to be a glorious concert.

  • 1984

    Be Blessed.

  • Marcell do you have any of the video from "Come unto Jesus" ? I have almost all of St. James on "Albums", hard finding videos and CD's.

  • This is my cousin and I'm elated just to see him in film.

  • Im completely overwhelmed and haven't even heard the whole clip..Just got back from Detroit from Pastor Charles Craig musical and homegoing service which like having church the way we 'used' to have church At A Homegoing service.
