A few weeks before this weekend we were experiencing an extreme heat wave 107+ in the shade this was the weekend that our state "Victoria" was on fire. Many people lost there lives and homes. Wicen (our version of RACES) were extreemly busy passing traffic during the event. Our state is still in Stage 3A water restrictions and we are limited to garden watering times, no washing of cars with town water and we are limeted to how much water we use daily. We need a lot of rain!
Glad to see you guys putting the heavy rotators at the base of the mast like I do. Well done on the field day - sorry we didn't have any contacts with your station this time. I don't have any video of my operation... Andrew VK1DA
Thanks Andrew, yes having the rotators at the base is one of the better improvments to the portable setup. I did hear you on 2m a couple of times but each time you were arranging to work another band or trying hard to work on 2m. I don't like to jump in when another station is working the one I want.
We have a few modifications to do before the Spring Field Day, and look forward to working you then.
Thanks Randy, this was one contest I was really unprepared for. I suppose it has been years since we experienced these kind of conditions so you get a bit slack with the preperation for them. Vave a look at the VK3JTM video, Tim told me that the caravan at one stage was on one wheel.
Peter VK3QI would like to hear that he spent some time designing it so it was practical. The trailer also has some caravan stays at the rear end so it will not tip.
Sorry Randy just realised you guys call a caravan a trailer. If you went to the local hardware to pick up some lumber it it a trailer you transport it with or do you call it something different.
