  • Looks like a hobbits house in the shire.

  • Anybody else find it ironic to take one's shoes off so as not to drag dirt into the house made of mud?

  • i see Dr. Andrew Weil in the background

  • Hehe, hippies...

  • @yollam new generation, they will rescue and to оwn the world.

  • Is this Middle Earth?

  • God , why me ? i was watching dubstep , and now i am in wierd youtube videos again :S

  • Wow, the economy is really bad, even Frodo Baggins had his house repossessed and resold.

  • that place looked like a great orgy den..lol

  • cool

  • Sweet People Of Shire And Their Home. (:

  • I love Cob!!. Just Mud, straw and shit....and a tad of sand!

  • we must remember.... it is WE (our ancestors that created the system we are in now!) WE have allowed this messed to be here!

  • people complain about government and it's regulators, inspectors, bureaucracy, etc. But when things go bad, they cry for help from those same people to REGULATE, INSPECT, and create BUREAUS to address the issues or those who are making the complaints!

  • They have to take their shoes off so they don't get any dirt inside the mud house. I love it. :)

  • Let homeless people build houses out of dirt, ie Cod, there's no reason why anybody doesn't have a home on this planet.

  • @HolyRevelation beats cardboard boxes for sure ;)

  • @HolyRevelation If only we cat get the govt. regulators out of our lives and our business!

  • @DontFriendInviteMe yes that would be awesome! as the founding fathers intended!

  • @HolyRevelation I'm pretty sure the word is cob, not cod. Like any other construction method cob requires ownership of a suitable building site, so cob in itself can't be a solution for the homeless.

  • @donyunger Please forgive me for misspelling Cob, I'm pretty sure that you're not perfect.

My point is, there's a lot of land that no one's using, other than greed, there's no reason why people aren't using it. There isn't a shortage of land or building material, only a shortage of compassion for other people.

  • @HolyRevelation We can start with your neighborhood. Lets see how long it takes for you to get sick of your property values plumetting.

  • @MickScarborough If we used property that no one is using or wants, it wouldn't effect anyones property value.

If I had my way, every neighborhood would be made up of cob homes.

They are easier to afford, build, heat, cool and way easier on the environment.

Expensive, impractical wooden homes would be a thing of the passed.

  • @HolyRevelation No such property exists

  • @MickScarborough There is plenty of unused property that people do nothing with, such as the massive amounts of empty buildings that are still safe to live in, and those that are also unwanted also exist, for instance the Taos earthship community was built on land that no one wanted because it was deemed too difficult to get utilities there. That type of land exists, but it's scarce and hard to find.

  • @MickScarborough what a dick thing to say,are you just on here to make fun, or are you that callous?

  • @blooddonor70 It has nothing to do with callousness kid, its reality.

  • @HolyRevelation I think a lot of homeless people would get into this. the problem is you have to ease into it; you need land, you need to plant and reap, and most of all, you need to learn how. I think with the effort we put into dealing with the homeless now, that we could transition to this type of life for them. I also think a lot of the mental problems would work themselves out with the land but there would still be a certain segment that needed serious help.

  • @leloodallasmultipass homless people wont build houses like this, for this you need drive and stamina. They are to busy feeling sorry for them selves and waiting for handouts.

  • Mr. safety meeting: my advice to you is to build something first meeting the minimum building code requirements somewhere on your property far away from the other structure you want to build your way, after you are done with it you can use it as storage or a guest house etc.... Once you are done with this you are free to build whatever you want with alternative techniques on a different section of your property.

  • the bottom DISLIKE should not be allowed in such a videos

  • so cool!

  • Love it

  • I'm going up to look at land in the same area next weekend. I'm hoping to find enough seclusion to be able to build what I want without nosey neighbors or the county giving me expensive problems. Anyone have any tips on getting around building permit problems for earthbag building? Should I just do it and hope nobody complains? The property has no building restrictions.

  • @MrSafetymeeting you might want to check the "alternative building" forum at permies

  • @MrSafetymeeting If you have the option build in wooded area. Don't tell, don't permit. Just asking for trouble. No restrictions for building type, but codes bloody codes.

  • Mörtel = German :)

  • wonderful

  • What's the info on building permits codes and such? Did you have to jump through hoops or is there a way around it or what? Eventually I plan to build myself a cob round house and looking into how much of a hassle it will be legally.

  • Sexy house. I plan on building my cob home soon.

  • looks a lovely place .

  • thank you for sharing ...I had trouble see 'cause the video cam holder was spanning and moving so quickly ...just an observation ...I simply wanted to see more 'K'

  • What county is this?

I'm looking for land where I can do this, but can't find ANYWHERE that lets you just build what you want!

  • @WizzleThump The county that my husband and I are wanting to by land in has a deal where you pay a fee up front - a little over 100 bucks - and you can build what you want, how you want as long as you stay back from the property lines. Also, there are some counties that have no rules at all.

  • what a lovely home.

  • wow what a yard

  • me and my girl want to build one of these

  • They have about a dozen of these little cottages. I'll try to upload a tour of the other cottages soon.

  • @paulwheaton12 Thanks so much I love cob and adobe but these are totally charming and welcoming abodes some are so funked out they become weird, I could do this no problem! Thanks and looking forward to additional films, awesome. Check out CalEarth which I am sure you have.

  • wow, that is just gorgeous. it's like a little cottage.
