Ok here are the facts and the source.
Crime made a slight rise during the moratorium on gun returns with peaks in 1998 and 2002. By 2005 the downturn was permanent.
Victims of breakins and vehicle theft went from 9% to 6.2%
Victims of robbery went from 0.5% to 0.4%
and of sexual assault from 0.4% to 0.3%
Regular assault (eg. without murderous intent) however was the only statistic to rise from 4.3% to 4.8%
Murders went from 297 in 1996 to 104 by 2007

Actually, its illegal in my country for the police to enter a house without a warrant to check anything other then your gun safe whereas your last President brought in a law allowed Fed's who suspect you of piracy to do the same ... ironically since about half of the websites online have pirated content that means anyone is suspect and can have their computer confiscated in the USA.

Besides that statement by Jefferson makes the assumption that 51% of the population are clones with the same principles on every subject. Even in his time they were not.

Same place they get the anti-weapons ideology from. As if controlling the tools of violence will protect society from violence, when the violent people will still be there. Does anyone think that those who want to hurt people will just twiddle their thumbs, or is it more likely they will find ~alternate~ weapons?!
