  • Thats a really hot coffee

  • They should have released these cinematics for the definitive collection of Descent. Why leave the PC group out and have the awesomeness exclusive to the PSX? oh well the story isn't why the game kicks all sorts of ass even to this day

  • "...You mean KAHN-tra-DICTORY objectives, don't yeh?"

  • He sounds like the same guy who does the voice over for Duke Nukem!

  • "Thats All Material Defender, Prepare For Descent"

    So EpiC

  • Translation from Bureaucratese: They're hosed.

  • Translation from Bureaucratese: They're screwed, and i'm the only one who can cut their losses.

  • i doubt it was done by the community.

these are the original voices from the descent 2/3 intros and cutscenes.

probably produced later for a special version of the game, as stated in the video description. ^^

  • That's because that's not the original intro. The original intro had no video because it came out before games even had video intro's. That was done by the descent community when they made a new version of the game.

  • Nope. It was done by Interplay (it's from the PSX version and perhaps (I'm not sure) and the Mac version).

  • Yeah but the original descent did not have video like that. I first got the game when it was brand new and I was 12. Thanks for the tip on where it came from though.

  • I have the Mac version. The intro is just the standard text and graphic version.

  • @RABBIDGamfan Yea I know man I've played the Mac version before, it kinda sucks how the only made the Playstation version with an intro video.

  • I found it funny that the video had the UI visible like the score and life counter. Hehe.

  • "Getting out of the mine before it blows should be foremost in your mind"

    "O rly?"

    "Ya rly"

    "No wai!"

  • Dravis: "that's all material defender, prepare for descent"

Material defender: "Huh? what? i wasn't paying attention"

xD lol that would be hilarous!

  • if there is one thing i love about these cutscenes, its the material defenders internal monolouge.

  • @fffaux you mean MONOTONE monologues...

  • what's wrong with that guy's arm.. lol

  • Dravis looks like Professor x of xmen

  • I guess dravis is a nasty man.

  • You have NO idea.

  • I think Dravis is from England. From what I can tell from his accent.

  • Well, he get a thicker english accent in Descent 3, thanks to David Warner.

  • What about the Material Defender?

  • It seems like he's been voiced by George DelHoyo in all three games.

  • Yes, i know it...

  • lol i played that game when i was six :-)

does anyone know which os it was, where the programs were put in a shelf as in a library?

sure it was windows, but which version......

  • Yeah I was 6 when i played this aswell. I vaguely remember the programs being put on the shelf, i think it was Windows 95.

  • hmm probably it was

  • It was DOS

  • This clip brings really fond memories. Descent was the game that introduced me to gaming. This game is classic.

"That is all Material Defender, prepare for Descent."

  • Awesome game. There's a sequel coming out soon, I hear. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

  • prepare for descent

  • That intro piece doesn't show ''Red Spidey''

  • Hey thats great - thanks for uploading

  • That is all material defender...

    i love that line

  • The PC Version of Descent had longer briefing talks like vaporization and so on. why did they shorten it fro the playstation version do you know why they did this. good game but music could have been better. The talking in the briefing was longer than the playstation version but it still is a very good game I am getting both version for playstation and PC

  • I didn't know the pc version had a movie intro, only text ? But I only had the floppy version really.

  • I finally got the ps1 version and played it on ps2 with smoothing and all...

I forget which level I am on... but I have unlocked ace difficulty.

  • i got this game when i was 5. My sister and i kept dying on the first level. I think she was 12 that time. I still have that game and never played it in 7 years. and i bet it still works.

  • "thats all material defender, prepare for descent." thats an epic line. lol

  • Great Job !

  • does the PC version of Descent have ANY videos like this on it? even an endgame video? Im the process of playing the game so I wouldnt know...

  • the PC version does not.

mac version, i think it may... but the ps1 version definitely does... as the description says

  • There's D2X-XL, you can include vids for part 1 and much more, just google or go to descent2 dot de, there you can find everything!

  • The PC version had still images instead of video. The dialoge seems to be exactly the same. <3 Descent

  • That's the samething with mine..and i used to have windows 95..

  • there are some parts that are omitted from the movie... such as some of the things dravis says while the material defender is speaking the first part...

    and talk about the pyro...

such as when dravis mentions that you will be using an israeli-made pyro gx...

MD's remark starts with something along the lines of "So some fighter-jockeys worship their hardware..."

  • is this the computer version

  • Wow, I never knew that the first Descent had movies. I only started playing with the second Descent. Great upload!

  • It didn't. THis is the PSX version.

  • fucking nice.

  • oh god, if I'd known there was actual videos in the Playstation version, I would have bought a Playstation.

I only have the PC version of Descent 1 & 2.

  • Wow, I never saw this either, awesome!

  • You have to love the Material Defender. He's amusingly sarcastic...like me.

  • Too bad this wasn't in the original.

  • Whoever owns the copyrights to this game now, release it again in a format that will run on XP and I'll pay $50 for it!

  • Actually, you can play D1 on XP. Get D1X v1.4

    (Search google for D1x Project)

  • Thanks

  • Awesome, I never knew this existed until just now. Only in the PLaystation version right? There's an ending too.

  • There is a video ending as well. As for the other question I only know of the PS1 version. I'm not sure if the Mac version has it or not.

  • huzzah!

  • Wow, thanks for sharing. I've never seen this video and I've been playing Descent since the summer of 1994 after the first demo was released. What a pleasant surprize! Where can I download it?

    Tankie2

  • D1x on kahn. Good times.

    -robo

  • I never saw this full motion version - the one I had was static screens and text. Still a great game.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • In some ways the mac version of the "mission briefing" is better. You are provided more details instead of the fancy full-motion video graphics moving you all over the room, diverting your attention to what the "bureaucrat" is saying and how the mines work.

  • No kidding. I didn't even know there was a cinematic for the PC version.

  • hehe, good old descent
