  • Take the fucking cotton out of ur nostrils.

  • I know this is an old video, but thanks dude hah!

  • I tried the looping of 2 videos but it's not working. It keeps replaying the same video instead of looping to the next. I tried changing the loop to the 2nd video but nothing happens. It quits after the 1st video.

  • go project info and change from best to standerd and that fixes size problem thumbs up so people see

  • you need to buy idvd to do this or is it for free?

  • lol windows7user on mac

  • i just did this thx good vid

  • dosent work for me..

  • I had to instal the DIVX codec for quicktime for iDVD to burn .avi files.

  • this dude spent like 40 seconds talking about standard or widescreen.

  • UM YEAH, IDVD APPARENTLY DOES NOT SUPPORT .AVI ANYMORE. STRANGE SINCE IT HAS WORKED IN THE PAST.

  • Your video was helpful. But apparently like other users, I've discovered iDVD to be a complete cluster fuck that won't simply take my file and burn it to a DVD without displaying the cadre of pop-up windows about size, duration, encoding, and (my personal favorite) "Empty Drop Zones". WHAT?! IT'LL BE GRAY!? I don't care, just burn the video. Nope, it doesn't.

  • whenever i try to burn it, no sound plays.

  • Hey, is there a way to delete the main menu and just have the DVD start playing from the get-go? Thanks!

  • @akwock go to view-showmap- and delete the main window or drag your movie to the gray box above the start menu when in showmap mode.

  • idvd stopped working for me it says error during encoding when i know the video is encoded properly

  • great video, might want to turn up you're mic volume a bit though :)

  • what the actual fuck my movie file is 770mb and idvd thinks it 4.8gb and wont let me fucking burn at all despite changing the coding -_-

  • thanks; this helped

  • Thank you. I hope this works. I appreciate your video!

  • i've just started my dvd making after watching this and it seems to be working. thanks lot man

  • why dont the avi file have the sound when i play back the dvd it plays the menu music but not the movie itself can someone please help dose it have to be in a different format to burn on a mac?

  • hey there, 2 questions, firstly is it possible to do this with a clip as long as a movie? (1.5 gb)

secondly, what are the other formats, does it include mp4 and m4v?

  • how can i burn an avi with a downloaded subtitles (srt format) onto a dvd? so i can watch a dvd with subtitles

  • how to call that progam ?

  • i just can't seem to get this right, i've tried 4 or 5 different programs, including idvd, my computer takes 1-2 hours to burn something onto the dvd which is then not recognized by my computer or any other dvd player.

i am trying to burn a .avi file

i tried idvd, toast, popcorn and some other dvd creators as well as moviegate.

if my computer hadn't burned a dvd from a video_TS folder in the past i would think it didn't have the capability but it definitely does.

    can anyone help me?

  • does it play on a dvd player though?

  • @andympants try listening to the video for the first 12 seconds and find out!

  • omg plez I need help!! I have 2 avi movies that i wanted to burn. And both movies would take up about 2.9 GB. And im using a DVD+R 4.7 GB of space. And this stupid error message keep popping up saying " Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn your DVD, remove some content."

  • @fairladyz402 I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM

  • @fairladyz402 did anyone reply back to your msg? i have the same problem! :(

  • @fairladyz402 did anyone reply back to your msg? i have the same problem :(

  • @misssdaza nope! not yet, still waiting for some useful answers... lame

  • @fairladyz402 idk if u still don't know but for all other stuck with thhis, u have to lower quality

  • @fairladyz402 Go to project > project info > and put it to proffesional qualityor the other one this will let it import it.

  • @fairladyz402 go to project info and change your setting to professional quality... that should do the trick

  • @fairladyz402 You can only burn one movie per dvd unless you get a duel layer dvd (8.?gig dvd) or make 2 4.7 DVD's.

  • wow, thanks !

  • Your camera skills are disastrous... Useful video none the less

  • Your camera skills are disastrous

  • luv yah !

  • sweet thanks, so simple!

    pml

  • for some reason when i put it in the dvd player and click play the movie is green

  • @ashleyroessler same here. i think the files cant be avi. they need conversion

  • okay. i have a avi file in divx format and coverted it to a .mov file. idvd says its too big. ive tried different movies ive downloaded and they are 500mb in finder but in idvd they say they are 5 sometimes 8 gbs large. how do i fix this?

  • you have to change the format to mpg4 or mp4 dont listen to him because u wont get any sound.. i called apple and asked

  • its working on DVD player?

  • lol windows 7 user.. on mac :P

but no, seriously.. Thanks dude ^^ very helpful..

    5*

  • my avi doesnt have any sound when i put it on idvd and play it. any suggestions?

  • if I click show map ,

    what happens excactly ?

I dont really understand will the menu on the dvd be deleted or ....

  • You can delete it, the map just shows what is contained in the project.

  • does it have to be dvd or can it be cd-r

  • dvd

  • can u burn more than just one movie

  • Yup

  • What do you do with MKV files? I need to burn a lot of MKVs onto DVD...

I have considered using Cocktail to convert the MKV to Mpeg4 then using iDVD. But I have also considered getting Roxio Toast to do my burning, not sure if that will accept MKVs either though.

I know ConvertXtoDVD is fine but that's a PC only app.

  • You can run covert x in crossover a program that lets u run pc programs on a mac.

  • your name is ironic

  • I use an os, mac, pc, linux that the user request i make the video in.

  • when i try to burn a avi movie on idvd and try to preview before wasting a blank dvd. it doesn't show anything its a blank black screen but i can hear sound only. what do i do ?

  • Check the codec, and make sure it is supported.

  • i have the same problem v it says it exceeds the maximum content and i have i movie thats about hour and 20 mins long and my disk can hold up to 2 hours

  • i'm trying to burn a movie and when i put it in this message pops up

"Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn your DVD, change your encoder setting in the Project Info window."'

so i changed the encoding from Best Performance to High Quality, but now it won't encode...

    HELP!

  • did you try completely restarting the project in high quality?

  • ive always used dvd-r that are 4.7 gb, i need a dual layer dvd but they are dvd+r. duz this make a difference to the compatability?

  • @Paengakahurangi no all dvd's u buy in the store are dual layer. Just make sure you have a dual layer burner and it will work just fine, whether it is + or -. Hope this helps.

  • Hello, thanks for the video.

I have a problem. I burned the AVI on to the DVD (took about 2hrs with the encoding?)

I played it. The menu comes up with sound. I click and start the movie... No sound. Help!

    thanks man

  • Sometimes idvd can have problems with certain avi files because of the codecs used to play them. The easiest thing to do is download perian for quicktime. Quicktime and idvd share codecs and this should fix your problems. Hope this helps!

  • thanks a ton

  • 5/5

  • nice dude love the vid

straight to the point w/o any bull shit

    good job

  • it is probably the burn speed. Go to idvd-preferences-advanced-and change it to 4x that is the speed i use. The slower the burn, the less likely it is to skip, jump around, or freeze. The speed is on the disc, but you have to burn on a lower speed than that.

  • it says that my project duration is too large, what did i do wrong

  • If it is to large u may need to burn to a dual layer disc, a single layer disc can only fit so much information(4.7gb, or 2hrs of video). A dual layer fits 4hrs and 8.5gb. Or u can split the information into 2 discs.

  • it's saying the file is too large remove some content.

how do i split the information into 2 discs?

  • idvd always thinks that my avi is 9 gb big but it isnt it is only about 900 mb big?!

  • Thanks ... it worked pretty well .. just doesn't play on my DVD player .. but it does play on my Mac and my PC and my portable DVD player .. maybe my DVD player is just old (Aiwa)

  • I tried this with a movie called Grand Torino iDvd told me it would take like 3 hrs .. is that standard for a Normal Feature film?

  • There are several factors that determine the time it will take to burn the DVD. The main one is processor speed what iDVD does is render your avi or other compressed file into a DVD file viewable on a player. The faster your processor the faster you can convert the file. That is about average, it normally takes the fully time of the movie, because it renders at the play speed, there is no way to change this also it creates menus which takes time, the last is burning this only take about 10 mins.

  • you carnt burn movies to a dvd to watch

  • It works on 5 of 5 DVD players in my house, and also on 7 out of 7 computers.

  • thank u...:)

  • great video
