@l0st4lif3 not entirely true. stock tiems for the 1970 Z28 are in the high 12's and low 13's. i dont know how fast the new camaro is, but ive achieved 4.7 seconds 0-60 in my 09 challenger. if you spend 500$ in a device that modifies the data on the cars computer, it makes the engine more efficient. the power can go over 500 hp.

13/18 is not horrible, for the performance you get its not bad at all. People drive Hummers around everyday and get worst then that, people drive trucks and SUVs daily and they get about the same as the SRT8 with a lot less performance.

Get a clue. This car has an automatic trans and a 3.07 open rear. It is geared for top end, not quick acceleration. The manual trans/3.92 posi Challenger will be well into the 12's.
the one thing dodge needs to offer is a super charged version to keep up with fords and chevys suped up versions. in stock the hemi has more hp than the camaro at 425 but chevy is going to offer a supercharged version similar to the engine found in the corvettes with around 500 hp like the mustangs but dodge hasnt hinted about any more powerful options

The market is shifting away from big SUVs and trucks. Finally Ford and GM have acknowledged that but it's already too late. The companies will suffer huge losses before they get their act together. How do you know all this you speak of? As in the performance aspect. From what I hear this car is the total package. From control to speed. Throw in racing technology and you can wash the away the weight issue. This car is bad ass and I can't wait to see it on the local tracks.

ive heard different from some people who have bought their challenger and they said its the complete opposite. they said the weight issue is no problem and plus dodge is creating the non-street-legal challenger with a crate Hemi and its supposed to weigh way less and thats supposed to be the car for the entthusiasts who take their cars to the track all the time...u kno people like u who do legal street racing but someone who likes to gun it on the high way would do more than fine with the srt8..
It may not be a manual but if your like my buddy john who missing his left leg a autostick is closet thing to manual as you can get without add a hand operated clutch but i think dodge should offer a manual trans as option.
I agree that technology like autostick is great for people like you friend, but manual transmission replacements that don't utilize a clutch pedal like Volkswagen's DSG are far superior to automatic transmissions with a torque converter.
What a beast! It's great to see that Dodge has finally managed to build a classic musclecar again. And gone one better by giving it decent brakes as well. Too bad it doesn't come with a stick shift, but oh well, with 0-60 in under 5 seconds, I guess that doesn't matter much.

@bimmerm3freak well, if your running against the v6, then this is true. but the v8 runs 0-60 in 4.6(for the new camaros) now in the 1/4 mile, if your talking about racing someone who knows what their doing with the car, all times shall be under 10 seconds with any camaro regardless of year. but the '69 Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1 beats just about everything

@l0st4lif3 not entirely true. stock tiems for the 1970 Z28 are in the high 12's and low 13's. i dont know how fast the new camaro is, but ive achieved 4.7 seconds 0-60 in my 09 challenger. if you spend 500$ in a device that modifies the data on the cars computer, it makes the engine more efficient. the power can go over 500 hp.

The first year of the new Challenger only came auto but the 2009's have a six-speed manual. You can look on Dodge's website.

Those specifications are such shit....Whats the point of the 6.1 L engine? It has nothing to do with it because a 5.7 can do the same amount of power no problem and even ferrari's 1 L can do 500 HP! A 1995 firebird had the same breaking distance, same 0-60 ( and I can't believe with 400 + HP there best time was 4.9 that's sad obviously weights to much ), even with a 350HP LS1 you can hit 165! What a waste....fat tank sums it up. Nice looking but over priced and not THAT appealing! BUY ORIGINAL!

Get a clue. This car has an automatic trans and a 3.07 open rear. It is geared for top end, not quick acceleration. The manual trans/3.92 posi Challenger will be well into the 12's.

the one thing dodge needs to offer is a super charged version to keep up with fords and chevys suped up versions. in stock the hemi has more hp than the camaro at 425 but chevy is going to offer a supercharged version similar to the engine found in the corvettes with around 500 hp like the mustangs but dodge hasnt hinted about any more powerful options

The market is shifting away from big SUVs and trucks. Finally Ford and GM have acknowledged that but it's already too late. The companies will suffer huge losses before they get their act together. If I was in control of Ford I would be building the European models here in the U.S. and selling them here. People are realizing they don't need an SUV, and that they only bought it so they'd have a false sense of security in the first place.

I ALMOST bought one, but then I remembered that everyone I've ever met who owns one has had major problems with them. Respect is always given to cars that are truly impressive regardless of of brand. I was so disappointed when I read the specs of this car... This car has no idea what it wants to be. 4000+ lbs?! You have to be kidding me! thats going to hurt every aspect of performance. No manual trans? I guess it will never see a road course. Obviously, the target demographic of this car is old farts who might have had an original but now need something soft to cush their tush. Cars like these did drag to tran-am racing back in the day... Not this car...

How do you know all this you speak of? As in the performance aspect. From what I hear this car is the total package. From control to speed. Throw in racing technology and you can wash the away the weight issue. This car is bad ass and I can't wait to see it on the local tracks.

How do I know this? mainly because I have been on a design team for a formula car, do a lot of racing myself, and have raced heavy cars. I have also driven the new GTO that weighs what? 3800lbs and has 400hp? That car is a slow car for 400hp. You can feel the GTO's heft in everything it does, I expect the Challenger to be no different. Unfortunately, 'racing technology' can't defy physics. Please, tell me what 'racing technology' is anyway! I don't think any way applied to this car!

ive heard different from some people who have bought their challenger and they said its the complete opposite. they said the weight issue is no problem and plus dodge is creating the non-street-legal challenger with a crate Hemi and its supposed to weigh way less and thats supposed to be the car for the entthusiasts who take their cars to the track all the time...u kno people like u who do legal street racing but someone who likes to gun it on the high way would do more than fine with the srt8..

This car has Autostick; it works almost exactly like a manual shift car with the exclusion of a clutch. So, quit whining.

EXCEPT that it has a torque converter, so don't tell me it's like a manual. If it's not a twin-clutch gearbox it's not an adequate replacement.

It may not be a manual but if your like my buddy john who missing his left leg a autostick is closet thing to manual as you can get without add a hand operated clutch but i think dodge should offer a manual trans as option.

I agree that technology like autostick is great for people like you friend, but manual transmission replacements that don't utilize a clutch pedal like Volkswagen's DSG are far superior to automatic transmissions with a torque converter.

What a beast! It's great to see that Dodge has finally managed to build a classic musclecar again. And gone one better by giving it decent brakes as well. Too bad it doesn't come with a stick shift, but oh well, with 0-60 in under 5 seconds, I guess that doesn't matter much.
The only thing that threw me was the polite and sensible Joe in his tidy suit, who didn't seem like much of a muscle car man to me. More like the driver of a practical Japanese import...

when i first saw the redone mustang i knew..
dodge really messed up on the charger and basically killed it by making it bulky instead of retro fitting it.
so i love the mustang but i love the rebirth that the retro vehicles are gettin.
