  • good!!!

  • This song's not for nothin'.

  • what album is this off of?

  • @PloiAm Hot Shots II

  • @PloiAm the best album of the 2000s!!

  • HD wouldn't hurt

  • mark david

  • So miles and miles of squares, Lupe Fiasco, this is still my favorite.

  • @edfeist32 did Lupe drop a reference to this song?

  • @erminization At first I thought he did, but this song actually referenced another song. An older song. haha.

  • @6235river Which is "Daydream" by Wallace Collection

  • @legrak I think it's specifically the Gunter Kallman Chorus cover, by sampling I Monster, the band who inadvertently stopped this song being released, by releasing their cover of the gunter kallman cover - their male vocals are very much like this guys.

  • WHAT DO THE LYRICS MEAN sumbudy explain pls

  • Thumbs up if Tofu the Vegan Zombie brought you here.

  • painful video

  • check out our band

  • 2:16 hahah thats funny shit!

  • i've just killed myself!!!

  • @SauzeeGod why?

  • hey everybody--check out the video I just made for The Beta Band song, "It's Over!"

  • It's reminding me strangely of the Moody Blues.

  • Quite portishead esque.

  • the original sample goes as far back to the 40's for this song. still great after so many versions today, lupe fiasco, i monster, and this

  • this should be minecraft's theme song

  • The name of the song they sampled is;

    The Wallace Collection - Daydream

As usual the original is the best

  • @losifer69 Ilike more this one : ))

  • @homobeat

I like them both probably the same but I appreciate the roots

  • Sounds like they sampled the same song that Lupe Fiasco did for his song Daydreamin'.

  • six feet under. another facet of its genius.

  • MWAHAHAHA!!! I finally found this song! Thankyewwwwww!!

  • oh its The Gunter Kallmann Choir

  • who did this first between them and i monster?

  • I found this song from six feet under

  • a part of this sounds like glory box by portishead.

  • I came here after drinking too much red wine and smoking too much Marlboros.

  • I came here from watching Life. xP Best show ever.

  • Would you faggots that come onto beta band vids stop droning on about high fidelity!!!

its so fucking annoying and disrespectful

  • @fuckthehuns1 yeah that gets me too, like when you look up asleep by the smiths, just cranks wanking on over some book

  • i heard this song in six feet under. anyone? fucking genius.

  • love this song and it makes me kinda sleepy lol

  • watch?v=zZUJLO6lMhI

  • is that lee marvin?

  • my new great discovery

  • High Fidelity is why I came here. HULULULULULULU.

  • this song sounds like Portishead's Glory box....yea. So thumbs up for Portishead instead?

  • @clint2098 yes, i would say it sounds like "Daydream" by the Wallace Collection, the original song from which Portished (and Tricky) took the famous sample. But this song quotes Daydream in the melodic line and lyrics.

Daydream, I fell asleep amid the flowers

for a couple of hours on a beautiful day...

  • @the5percent and i would also add that if u listen to daydream by the wallace collection you might find it is obviously inspired by 'the swam lake" from Tchaikovsky

  • one of scotlands finest bands.. listened to this on my recent venture into glen etive on a stoned camping expedition :)

  • if you life this... check out - king biscuit time - walk the earth

  • i remember seeing this vid for the first time in like 01, 02 on late night MTV

  • I heard that few seconds of Dry the rain and went out and bought hotshots II. Loved them since.

  • we all came after watching high fidelity ! I didnt know beta band, now it's just my favorite band :)

  • funny

  • Could one of you PLEASE help that retarded bloke before he bloody kills himself!

    lol

  • took some balls remixing a tune like this, and man they pulled it off

  • why does this guy have a shovel on the roof.

  • Absolutely fantastic.

  • I know this guy called Willy, from Carlops in Scotland who told me about this band, he was right. They are ok

  • Better than OK fella. Awesome.

  • hit, yo....26 now but was 17 then... n f-- what my fiance says... he's passed out anyhow!

  • But they didn't make a soooouuunnd.

    :D

  • the melody is similar to Portishead... i like the slow beat...

  • It's a sample of Daydream by Wallace Collection also in Lupe Fiasco's song Daydreamin'

  • @misselle38 Or very similar to Wallace Collection - "Daydream"...

  • one of them

  • anyone else come here after watching high fidelity ?

  • yes

  • Haha i so did lol, loved the movie, so for the past few hours ive been looking at some of the music from the movie, finding some pretty cool stuff ^^

    Peace.

  • @Sockhead360 yep :)

  • @Sockhead360 ahahahahah you got me!

  • @Sockhead360 YUP! :)

  • @Sockhead360

did you watch it on hulu?

  • @Sockhead360 Definitely me!

  • @Sockhead360 hell ya :)

  • @Sockhead360 no after watching I Monster, and it has to be said at least the Beta Band took it well, I Monster is much better (bunch of perverts), but none the less superior sampling.

  • @Sockhead360 My favorite movie!

  • @Sockhead360 Yes! High Fidelity, great movie!

  • @Sockhead360 no... and I think it's pretty sad that these guys are only know from some stupid movie

  • @Sockhead360

    you know it.

  • @Sockhead360

    hell yes

  • This guy sounds like McCartney to me...weird.

  • @Jakabones It's McCartney's illegitimate child.

  • I love this song =)

  • ♫"Spellbinding" & "Magical"♫

  • oh man poor old man :(

    great song :D

  • beautiful song...retarded video....

  • Im preparing myself for some thumbs pointing down on this comment because I agree, this video is a load of honk!

I find it amazing that individuals cant have an opinion anymore.. Ah well...

  • this was originally done by The Wallace Collection in 1969 .

so many versions, all on youtube!

Hallman Choir - Day Dream IN Blue

    Wallace Collection - ""

Lupe Fiasco & Jill Scott - Daydreamin'

    Claude Francois - Reveries

  • forgot iMonster

  • YOU forgot poland

  • "this was originally done by The Wallace Collection in 1969 ." Correct, however I wouldn't call everything else a "version".

Version would refer to the Gunter Kallmann Choir version, while it's a cover of the song. Then other artists, Beta Band, iMonster, Lupe, "sampled", and more specifically they sampled the Gunter Kallmann version. Not many people recognize the The Wallace Collection version when they hear it.

  • no entienden nada nabos

  • This song is for squares.

  • Daydream by Lupe Fiasco..

Did he just rap over this song?

That's disappointing but this is way better

  • that may be so, but jill scott's performance on the lupe fiasco version was outstanding

  • Yeah! This is the one I love! Great style! :)

  • the beta band'1997-2004'..the music lives on..

  • That old man wasn't so dumb. He was wearing a helmet after all. :)

  • Ow! My pinky!

  • get back together soon betas!!!!!!

  • this was so on life :)

  • this song was on the latest episode of "life" I loved it so much i looked it up

  • Yeah...me too lol

  • Lol... OMG ME THREE!!!

I was so obsessed after that episode - I trawled the net for a good hour looking for the name of the episode and finally the track! FYI - The episode name is 'Not for Nothing'. There are some great songs by Galactic(What You Need) and Kid Beyond (I shall be free)... Beta Band! My new obsession

  • Amazing song, but what a terrible video...

  • I put the one they made after this one up in the responses.

  • Beta Bandsis a dope ass band!! I hope they get back together again and put out more music!~Phurdrick

  • Beautiful song but I prefer the cover of I monster " Daydream in blue"

  • you guys should better diversify words like sampling, cover(version) and remix,

    anyway great cover

    thanx nickfrewin for info

  • r.i.p. miss them...

  • I miss them too but they're not dead! Ha ha.

  • no, but they are resting

    hehehe

  • thanks for setting straight who did this song nickfrewin

  • lupe fiasco sample are you having a laugh, you really are a moron, beta band in a class of their own.

  • This song, Glory Box by Portishead, and Hell is Around the Corner by Tricky have the same bass line. Just an observation by a DJ obsessed with music.

  • I agree...

  • And "mad about you" by hooverphonic.

  • Or somebody who knows how to use wikipedia.

They do have a n okay history of the song, but they don't fully explain who originally wrote it.

  • I loved it. Ever fell asleep amid the flowers? Its good! I liked this band from the film High Fidelity but have only just got round to looking them up. MP3 Downloads here I come!

  • This song kicks ass, paying homage to Lupe Fiasco I see, good job.

  • Except that the beta band released this song 5 years before lupe fiasco's version.

  • Thats song is ancient, from like the 70s you moron.

Lupe fiasco only sampled it he didn't create it.

Im pretty sure beta band sampled it before he did aswell.

  • Daydream (I fell asleep amid the flowers) is a song originally composed and recorded in 1968 by the Belgian band Wallace Collection.

Loads of people have sampled it over the years

  • Actually it was first performed by the Gunter Kallmann Chorus in the 60's

  • no you moron, definitely not Lupe..

  • Sweet melody... I'mm hooked..
