I shanawaz frm india,i have very nice breeding pigeons ,and racing pigeons ,i got pmv in my baby pigeon his neck was completly rounding ,so what should I give him ,to save his life plz,he cant eat I m feeding him with my hands ,he was my darling bady ply help me I m vating for u r repley bye, god bless u.
I found a pigeon who most likely has pmv (a bad strain has spread across my city killing mostly all feral pigeons) and he can't fly or walk at this point. Is there any chance of him getting better or should he be euthanized? I feel so badly for him, if he even tries to walk he falls on his face or back.
Nice birds. I also love pigeons. Can you hear the music in the background? It's Enya. From the Celts album. I hope her music has the same healing effect on birds as on humans.
I don't have anymore birds so that's one problem solve right there. But Yeah, i already took out the perch and everything else so she doesn't climb on anything. Her head is a little bit better now she can feed and drink by herself. I've little bowls so that she can eat on the ground. But i also make sure to clean the bowl a lot there. From what i saw on the internet, they say she need lots of quiet time and to be in a warm place.
@Roger3eme That's very good what you are doing. If you check out my Pigeon Tales (cannot add the link but just enter Pigeon Tales in Google) you will find what my experiences with PMV were and are and a lot of tips. Your love will help a lot.
Also I recommend you becoming a member of the Pij'n Angels forum with lots of very nice and helpful pigeon people - cannot enter link either - just google Pij'n Angels - they are on first place!
I think my ringneck dove just got that! Went to the vet but the only thing he said. It's a neurological desease, but what i'm seeing there is exactly what my bird does. Can dove catch it to, and what can i do to help it.
@Roger3eme The only thing you can and should do is separating the bird immediately from others as PMV is highly infectious for about 6 weeks. After that there is no risk any more. When the dove cannot eat any more by herself you must switch to handfeeding/tubefeeding as she needs the nutrition. Give her a safe place where she cannot hurt herself when she is getting seizures. Intensive care is the only thing you can do, giving her extra vitamins and calcium!
