Interesting that the uploader blames communism for the building collapsing... This is obviously a case of substandard building standards and lack of oversight. Flamesuit on for the anti-government, anti-regulation nutjobs.
It is just like this in all the other parts of the world that are growing too fast. Builders put buildings up and only care about the bottom line and speed, not quality. To think, there are people who want to turn America the same and think businesses will protect us.
China will never be a first economy because the BILDERBERG CLUB" (United States) – 1954 (begin of the Economic Wold Control, the same that “Skull and Bones” and the “Bohemian Grove”).
To call China a "Colossus with feet of clay" is a bit thick isn't it? They are pretty much the biggest superpower in the world today, economically at least.
@freethoughtmusic With a GDP at 1/3rd that of Americas with a population of over 4 times that of America, they are far from that status. Not to mention they are now at a point of slowing due to dwindling exports from fluctuations in world economy.
Their economic structure has a low ceiling unfortunately. I've spent enough time in the country and for as good as they test in school, they definately don't have a grasp on engineering, construction and sciences when in comparison.
@Intellect1618 Fair enough! But it does not exactly make them a "Colossus with feet of clay) remember their GDP has increased exponentially in a very short space of time whereas the US, Europe, Canada and other Western nations have had much more time. Still what an atrocious and unethical building practice eh. PS, thanks for an intelligent reply, what a nice change. Peace out.
@freethoughtmusic They need to be careful with their development. There are severe issues with developing too quickly as a country. I'm an ex USAF weapons specialist on F-16s with a degree in engineering currently in my post-grad in physics.
I've seen poor development practices over my years but China is heading to the front of that line. I want to see them suceed but they have political, social and developmental woes to contend with.
@Intellect1618 Yes; you're right, too much growth - too fast is what caused problems in my native England at the time of the industrial revolution. A huge rural de-population, exploding cities that were rotting slums by the mid 20th ct. I can see a similar problem for them. I read that thousands of acres of farmland are being flattened to make room for buildings such as this one. Umm, hey, feel free to e-mail my account. Cheers
Failures are the pillars to success. China is wiping America's behind. Macau brings in 5X more cash than Las Vegas, already, and they are on track for 42% increase in tourism in the next year.
You did a great job on this video, as it explain why this happened! I have seen a photo of this, but you had illustrated even more. I am sure that this building is no good now and sadily I heard that one man had died due to this. Very good illustrations and photos!
@andhag Funny, did they get rid of the English tense known as the "historical present"? So I suppose we can expect sports announcers to stop saying things like "Diego makes the goal!". By the way, are you still "staring to learn how to fly rc planes?" Has anyone complained about your prolonged gaze?
you guys are fucking racists. when western civilization corrupts itself, which it will, the country in east asia will rise and lets see whos the boss then
I agree it was bad timing and weather for the most part and that the frame of the building itself was well built but if you look closely there was one fatal flaw in the design and that was the rebar pilings being thin and hollow. The calculations are good and all but it was just as small mistake. Well I think for the most part China's buildings are pretty durable but most news I've read about construction problems are usually in the foundations. So I think it was a mixture of things.
one can not simply copy technology being developed in the western world by the way it looks. what takes us decades to learn how to construct, china often tries to rebuild it without the fundamental knowledge. the results are sometimes obvious. sorry for those who pay the price for this
@flukt1 it's funny how the whole PC (political correctness) idiots try to show how PC they are but just point out thier own bigotry and idiocy.....IMHO those PC freaks are the biggest bigots, and the cause of most issues in the world.....btw great video!
WOW! Look at that! The WHOLE building fell right over, BUT stood intact... but WTC 7 collapsed into dust from a little fire... now WHO does shitty construction???
I wish you to have weather like China has in this area. Just for a month, not to long. And then we would see what kind of houses do you bild. And I am not a chinese. But I'm just guessing-you must be an american right?
There's no rebar in the pilings. Duh... I bet they're glad they saved that minor expence now. I wonder if their buldings use that quality drywall they also export.
China is already the world's biggest economy and a great example of progress. The U.S. owes 15 Trillions, most of it to China (thanks to W.Bush). If the United States defaults, China owns us--per se.
The building collapsed due to heavy rains and bad timing, but the motherfucker is in one piece (whole) . . . it never crumbled to pieces like anybody would expect. It just tipped over, but kept its integrity (solid).
It did not fall due to bad construction, just mediocre timing and planning.
Well, this building is very well constructed. The building collapsed due to heavy rains and bad timing, but the motherfucker is in one piece (whole) . . . it never crumbled to pieces like anybody would expect. It just tipped over, but kept its integrity (solid).
For those who envy and criticize China's manufacture and economy. China is already the world's biggest economy. The U.S. owes 15 Trillions, most of it to China (thanks to W.Bush).
Now all buildings in all countries where the communist party is legit will fall over and all buildings in all countries where the communist party is outlawed will never fall!
Good pictures, thanks for providing a learning experience for the next generation.
Let's not be so high and mighty, we've just had plenty of made in America buildings collapse under snow load this year and bridges fall down, etc.. I am sure they will learn as they are producing more Dean's list students than our entire student body.
I just showed this to my brother who is an engineer. He said that if the building had been properly constructed to start with, it would not have happened. That was my initial reaction too. The weight bearing pylons, should have been solid concrete AND
about 20 times as thick. That is the most pathetic example of engineering he's ever seen
"There are cities in China that most Western people have never heard of that have bigger populations and more tall buildings than half the prominent cities in the U.S.," Antony Wood, executive director of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. North America's share of the 100 tallest buildings will fall from 80 percent in 1990 to just 18 percent by 2012, according to Wood. By then, 45 of the tallest will be in Asia, with 34 in China.
@phobos2k2 As Americans, it's time to quit pointing our fingers at the Chinese and start pointing at our government. They are the idiots, not the Chinese.
It's a bad work no doubt but such thing happen at other corners of the globe too, including US. So it not to say "Made in China" buildings are poor. Would foreigners stay in Chinese hotels?
i notice thad the maker of this video really fears and envy china progress..... well keep on sufering becose there is no way you can stop china to becone the fist economy of the world.... :-p

the fact is thad you dont have any argument, china goes up, usa is goin down.... :-p
@jodetel I doubt seriously that the maker of this video has any fear and certainly no envy of a country that makes Apartment Buildings that fall down. I'm sure his point is: how many other countries do you know of who are so irresponsible as to make tall apartment buildings that collapse with the possibility of killing thousands of residents. You must be smoking some sort of weed to come to that conclusion. You may be correct though, about China trying to become the World's "fist" economy!?
@jodetel That is what your communist puppet handlers would like you to believe. The truth is that China is just a polluted wasteland and China's only function in this world is an endless supply of uneducated, illiterate workers that will work for peanuts. I've been to China about 6 times and it is the dirtiest, grubbiest place I have ever been to.
Interesting video, crappy music. It looked MUCH better when I muted the speakers so I didn't have to listen to this POS so-called music. (Don't bother emailing me your petty complaints. I'll just delete them unread.)
This is just carelessness on the excavator, not the engineer. A lot of stuff breaks with a lateral load in-excess of 3000 tons! Most likely this could have been avoided if the excavator had chosen a better spot for the excavated soil. The rain loosing the soil was the nail in the coffin. What if that whole building was filled with finishing workers? Opps ahhhhhhh I got a lawsuit on my hands. Some people should just get a desk job.
No! they should have built the parking structure first...the cart before the horse common sense stuff! look at the cut they had to deal with....its a no brainer!
