well 10 min is more that enough for most cases, but there are some cases that there should be longer, I'm sure that you already know what to do if it is longer than 10 or your 15 min. limit. one thing that should be lifted is the text limit.

Once you have a standard account can you switch that existing account to a director account so you can get more than 10 minutes? There's nothing more annoying than uploading a video that's 10 minutes and 15 seconds, then getting it rejected. Or do you have to pay for a directors account?

If ads are enough to support youtube as it is I wouldn't think it would cost an extravagant amount for a little more bandwidth and moderation. The infrastructure is already there for the director accounts; they could at least charge for the privilege to offset said cost but it is their choice. That aside though, it seems odd that Google's video site is littered with 2 hour movies even though they drafted the polices for youtube. Granted most of it's foreign and loosely enforced but it counts.

Bad news DybbukAtroxic. If you got a directors account after Google bought YouTube, the 10 minute restriction will still apply. If you have a directors account before YouTube gave its contract to Google, then you can still upload videos longer then 10 minutes.

Chris, I think that when you sign up, was in the early days of You Tube, which was unlimited, but then someone uploaded the SNL's "Lazy Sunday/Chronicles of Narnia" video and You Tube was filed lawsuits with NBC and then, came big Viacom claiming that You Tube was holding "SpongeBob" and "South Park" videos without authorization, so You Tube has to limit the size of videos and timed at 10 minutes. They may grant Directors status, if you prove them that you are not uploading copyright materials.
