I'm a convert to the LDS church and I know that there are lots of things taken out of context and twisted, etc. I read most of these things 30 years ago when I was first investigating the Church, but I took the time to learn the truth. If I believed even half of what I've read, I'd think Mormons were nuts. I just wish more people would learn the truth before they say what they do.

@cindybin2001 I WAS LDS. The part I have a problem with is this: The Book of Mormon has been proven (by word for word comparison) to be altered from the original. If indeed the original was accurate, then we currently have an altered version of the truth. but if the original was somehow inaccurate, the who lied...? The Angel Moroni who allegedly read some of the text to Joseph, or Joseph who uttered it to his scribes, or maybe it was teh scribes themselves. (see the quiz in Labyrinth)

Yes this Mormon Teacher I know who went to prison (here is the link wsaz.com/news/headlines/17352404.html ) complained while locked up that he was forbidden to wear his gartments. Now, I am unfamiliar with the origin of the garments, but, many beliefs require the wearing of certain garments. However, if the origins are as you say in this clip then all I can say is...WOW!

The garments aren't secret nor are they magic, they're an external symbolism that we have taken upon ourselves certain promises to follow Christ. My family were baptized, then i had to threaten to sue them to leave me alone because they wanted me to pay and pay and pay but im just a waitress and i dont even go to church but every time i moved my mom sent my records to the local church then theyd keep coming over and calling me at my work and trying to set up meetings with me and when i politely asked them to please stop they said they would excomunicate me so i just had my records removed, now my family thinks im evil.
@MsKRuan Do not lie my friend, all you have to do is write the Bishop of your ward and state that you want your records removed from the church and you are gone. I know because I have sat in counsel regarding such requests.

Maybe YOU were doing this proper but that doesn't mean others are so accommodating, in fact it's possible they were just having a problem processing my request for reasons unknown to me . the only response i got back from the bishop was afterwords asking me to repent...sigh but whatever man think what you want.

Why would so many outsiders come to the conclusion that it's magic? Perhaps Mormons who deny it as magic are not at a level to know or be told, or are protecting the public from their secret beliefs. It reminds me of Scientology. The volcano on the cover of Dianetics, has deeper meaning than just a volcano, but good luck getting members to know, admit or question it. Here's a question, what does it matter to a non-Mormon if a Mormon wants to wear temple garments are where is the doctrine that these garments are "magical." I mean, if you don't like the idea of wearing specific under garments, then don't join the Mormon Church or, if you are a member of the Church, don't wear them. To my knowledge, the wearing of temple garments is not required for membership in the church. Are the Mormons complaining about your priest's vestiments?

The LDS ppl believe that all things are predicated upon scientific fact. The laws in heaven are also true on Earth. Science "law" dictates that for an "if-then" statement to be true the "If" part has to lie in truth, and the "then" has to answer accurately and truly. when the "if - then" sequence breaks down all that can be achieved is false answers. So "If... as God is man may become." is true then God has to be misleading when He says (in at least 3 unique places) "I am the only God formed."

I'm a convert to the LDS church and I know that there are lots of things taken out of context and twisted, etc. I read most of these things 30 years ago when I was first investigating the Church, but I took the time to learn the truth. If I believed even half of what I've read, I'd think Mormons were nuts. I just wish more people would learn the truth before they say what they do.

If indeed the original was accurate, then we currently have an altered version of the truth. but if the original was somehow inaccurate, the who lied...? The Angel Moroni who allegedly read some of the text to Joseph, or Joseph who uttered it to his scribes, or maybe it was teh scribes themselves. (see the quiz in Labyrinth)

Historically temples have been used to worship, God is the same yesterday today and forever. He restored his true church and power when there was a free land in which it could flourish. @JustMeNotU100 This is more important than what they "represent" - now, with that said, I am not a Mormon and do not believe the way the LDS Church believes, however, many beliefs utilize (and require) certain garments to be worn and this is found through Christian history, although, with the comming of the Messiah many such requirements (post 2 of 2).

My family were baptized, then i had to threaten to sue them to leave me alone because they wanted me to pay and pay and pay but im just a waitress and i dont even go to church but every time i moved my mom sent my records to the local church then theyd keep coming over and calling me at my work and trying to set up meetings with me and when i politely asked them to please stop they said they would excomunicate me so i just had my records removed, now my family thinks im evil.

@MsKRuan Do not lie my friend, all you have to do is write the Bishop of your ward and state that you want your records removed from the church and you are gone. I know because I have sat in counsel regarding such requests.

@caesarmoridon i had to send my request Registered Mail and threaten to sue because I was not getting confirmation from the church office after 2 requests and 4 months. Maybe YOU were doing this proper but that doesn't mean others are so accommodating, in fact it's possible they were just having a problem processing my request for reasons unknown to me . the only response i got back from the bishop was afterwords asking me to repent...sigh but whatever man think what you want.

This is a great movie by the way. It's from the gay fantasia on national themes called ANGELS IN AMERICA. That scene between the two actors wearing those garments is a great one. The Mormon Church is not trying to prevent any exposure. They know how people can get garments outside of the LDS Church. This is much a do about nothing.

first baldwin, i was raised, heavily, southern baptist, half family are catholic, best friend was lutheran, friends across the street mormon, graduated from a church of christ school, current friend is hindu and studied the ba hai a bit.. so you could say im an amateur theologist (in an educational manner), do you have any further info or reading, maybe even b.o.m. scripture or pamphlet excerpt on the mormon faith and thier problem with other religions sacred garments.

Why would so many outsiders come to the conclusion that it's magic? Perhaps Mormons who deny it as magic are not at a level to know or be told, or are protecting the public from their secret beliefs. It reminds me of Scientology. The volcano on the cover of Dianetics, has deeper meaning than just a volcano, but good luck getting members to know, admit or question it. Mormonism and Scientology seem to share common secretive behavior, as well as science fiction writer as their founder.

We can laugh at other people's religious symbols just as easily. It's what these symbols mean to those who hold them as sacred that conveys meaning to those individuals. Here's a question, what does it matter to a non-Mormon if a Mormon wants to wear temple garments are where is the doctrine that these garments are "magical." I mean, if you don't like the idea of wearing specific under garments, then don't join the Mormon Church or, if you are a member of the Church, don't wear them. To my knowledge, the wearing of temple garments is not required for membership in the church. Are the Mormons complaining about your priest's vestiments?
