  • le meilleure requiem qui n'ait jamais existé ! avec çà on a envie de monter au Ciel !

  • lovely. thank you

  • very nice piece

  • Rest eternal grant them, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine on them.

To thee praise is due, O God, in Zion,

and to thee vows are recited in Jerusalem.

Hear my prayer; unto thee all flesh shall come.

  • @aporeh This wasn't supposed to be a translation of the Latin, was it?

  • Beautiful, serene and heavenly music, so glad John Rutter rediscovered this again after all these years.

  • Please can anyone recommend any similar haunting choral works. Big gap in knowledge and need to buy more like it!!

    Thank you!!

  • @awburns1 On a single CD (Arte Nova) you can get the entire requiem, the even more hauntingly beautiful and serene "Cantique de Jean Racine," and a lovely Messe Basse

  • @awburns1 Thank you - playing now

  • wonderful

  • Wonderful waves of choral notes backed by a haunting Harp which if you listen carefully isnt the formation of notes you'd expect ( I dont read or play - sorry to sound musically thick).

The whole thing even ends on a lovely hopeful note, as God would have (did?) wish for surely this is his work through man.

None of the contemporary judgmental angst, rather a calming send off.

  • does anyone know what this song is about?

  • In paradisum deducant te angeli, in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere aeternam habeas requiem. May the angels lead you into paradise, may the martyrs receive you in your coming, and may they guide you into the holy city, Jerusalem. May the chorus of angels receive you and with Lazarus once poor may you have eternal rest.
  • Your final journey mate, with a benevolent forgiving end - see text

  • You are more than welcome, Bud.

Knowledge brought to you all the way from inner-city Leeds 'innit'.

  • @slimithy12

Try also The Moon over Mtatsminda, by Jan Garbarek, another good send off (lyrics worth a look too)

  • @slimithy12

Prior to Vatican II the In Paradisum was sung (usually chanted) at the end of every Catholic funeral.
