Coming from the Carolinas, an area that also relies on farming, it saddens me to see California politicians care more about a minnow than their state's farmers.

I couldn't imagine Florida doing the same to their orange growers.

Delta smelt are preyed upon by larger fish, especially striped bass and largemouth bass which are invasive species in the Sacramento Delta. Sport Fishermen brought suit to turn off the water to the farmers because they wanted to have more Delta smelt to fatten up their invasive species for sport fishing. The Central Valley is the richest agricultural area in the United States. Without our produce, food prices will rise. Our exports are going to be reduced.
