I just got a 7 str.. my first one, I've played ibanez 6's for a while, my Rga 121 being my most recent.. played a schecter 7, damien I believe w/ emgs, and it felt amazing, so it prompted me to go with a jeff loomis schecter 7 with the tom bridge.. couldn't be happier, it plays amazing right out of the box.. and I love the neck, even after playing wizards forever, id suggest checking one out if you're still in the market :)

Fred, you are a MAN. I'm looking into getting my first 7 string, and I've never used any company other than Ibanez. Are there any other companies that make any better 7 stringers? I've heard PRS and Schecter are getting good. I wanted to get your opinion before I rush out and buy and Ibanez and miss out on something else :p

@Dissimulatex As thelogheart said it really depends on trying a couple out and seeing what you think. I've never played a Schecter, so I didn't buy a Schecter - simple as that! Also, PRS don't really make 7-strings. Well... Not unless you're looking at spending $10,000+. Take your time to try a few models out in whatever price range you're looking at, because even two RG7321s can play totally differently.

@Dissimulatex I first bought an Ibanez RG7321 and it's the perfect first 7 string. I have owned a Schecter 7 as well and I did not like it. The necks are too chunky for my taste and the body was bulky as well. I now have two more Ibanez 7 strings (a RG7620, hard to find, and a RG7420). Other companies do make 7 strings, just google "7 string guitar" or put it in to MusiciansFriend (dot) com and look at everything. You do need to play them before buying one. Hope that helps.

I won't pretend they're brilliant, and would definitely replace them if I had the cash to throw away on such things, but you can still get some passable tones from them. If you're looking for a starter 7-string and find a decent deal on a 7321, I'd say it's pretty much a no-brainer!

@hiddenoath To the best of my knowledge, the RG7320 is for the USA market only, but regardless of that, given the choice between paying (new on zzounds) $400 for an RG7321 or $530 for an RG7320, when the single difference between the two is that you're paying $130 extra for a crappy tremolo instead of a decent hardtail... I know which one I'd go for. Then take into account the much greater likelihood of getting a good deal on a used 7321 than a used 7320. As you guys would say, just my $0.02.

You know your tab? It's amazing, but that bit at 0:50 - you're playing it differently here? Bulb plays it that way too, in the tab there's some open string stuff going on around that bit which makes it incredibly awkward. Could you please tab your version out? Cheers.

I've actually just played along with the tab to confirm that, and what I'm doing in the video is exactly what's written here. Hopefully it's more or less exactly what Misha plays too!

It would be great if you could do a video with the bit labeled '1st Heavy Section' slowed down, it's so fast it's hard to discern what exactly you're doing there and I'm finding the fingering incredibly odd from the way I'm doing it (It's more or less impossible to make it sound clean that way since the open notes ring out all over the place.)

@berts1405 I've answered this question a few times now - the only reason I am playing this on a 7-string is because at the time I recorded this, the only decent electrics I owned were a 7-string and an 8-string. It is a 6-string song in drop-C; if you have a 6-string, you can play it!
