OMG! I just read your website were you blame vets for the fact that you are breeding unhealthy puppies!! Do people believe that crap? I guess they do since they buy those poor badly bred babies from you.  Adoption form? You mean sales contract. Veterinarians overall are not educated well about vaccine safety and do accidentally over vaccinate and kill puppies and ADULT dogs each year. Some HAVE learned how to safely vaccinate small breed dogs. Small breed dogs according to the AKC dogs clubs range 2 to 6 lbs grown so 2 and 3 lbs grown dogs are within "standard" according to the 100 year old AKC dog clubs.we keep our puppies until 12-20 weeks old and we give the first puppy shots.

I couldnt disagree more.

I have a chihuahua and my son is 3 years old and he is amazing with her. It depends on the child, their maturity etc.

Also you have to remember, not all Chihuahuas are tiny. You can get 2lb chihuahuas and ive seen a 8/9lb chihuahua.

And another thing, yes small dog breeds do tend to have a favourite family member but its not a rule. My Chi loves all of us. It show you train them aswell :)

@poisonrage ICAM. I have a 2.5 Chihuahua and two daughters. One is 14 and the other is almost 3. Both are great with her. My 3 yr old knows she can pet her but isn't allowed to pick her up and carry her around. We've had her since she was a puppy, she is now 15 months old. And has never been hurt by anyone including my kids.

that depends if the 12 yr old is responsible enough to never mishandle the dog drop it and fill its dish twice a day always provide clean water bathe the dog reguraly no more than twice a week because much more can result in skin dezise it also depends on the chi are you talking apple head like the above those are probably the most fragile dog for a twelve year old girl i would recommend a chi of larger size and remember chis are 1 people dogs they bond closely to 1person and r very protective

I have to agree, it really depends on the maturity of the child. I grew up in a house full of chihuahas ( Parents bred em ) Since I was 6 I was surrounded by them. Of course I was always taught to handle them with extreme care so on and so forth. If properly prepared the only age group you'd have to really keep the cuties away from is maybe 4 or so and below. They're still in the hyper insane " OMG " stage lmao XD ( Some kids stay that way until YEARS later, but it all depends ^^ )

Not to preach but contraary to popular belief, there arent different types on Chihuahua.

Also, when buying a pup, there are no guarantees on what size it will grow to be, some have growth spurts and if you fork out lots of money for a so-called 'tea-cup' be prepared for the fact that it could grow to any size.

Also,m the smaller the dog, the more health problems they usually have. Its not always the case but it happens.

Im not trying to lecture, just giving friendly advice :)

i belive that thare r diff types in 3 catigorys:

small apple head

small norm head

larger stonger body with either head (most often norm) because ive had all three before

They are just different head shapes. Thats not a different type of Chihuahua.

There are long coats and smooth coats. They are the two breeds (the British Kennel Club has them listed as a separate breed before anyone jumps on that part).

The only people need to be concerned with head shape and body is when they are looking to show.

ayume1. ANY PERSON WHO HAS A DOG AND THE DOG HAS A BABY IS CONSIDERED A BREEDER. ur just not a high quality breeder, obviousely. if you cant afford to fix ur dogs, you shouldnt even have a dog. If you cant give a dog proper care then you shouldnt have one. Munchkin pups have very tiny chihuahuas. THats what they are known for. I see you are a Chi breeder so wonder why you do not know that 6 week tiny Chis can be 2 inhes tall. The puppy IS 2 inches tall and as a full grown adult ended up 6 inches tall. It is COMMON for me to have puppies at 6 weeks old that are 2 inches tall. Many of my 6week old puppies are as small as 4 oz which can be the size of a regular newborn Chihuahua
