  • I need more instruction than this.

  • thanks

  • what sound wave is it?

  • A sine wave. Those give instant e-bass en e-piano sounds...

  • This is excellent--sounds great.

  • Thanks a lot!

    Grtz from Belgium,

    Alien Robot Dance

  • or k daar n vlamsch accentje?

  • Yessir!

    Geboren en getogen.

  • Please tell me the settings. I've tried to make some kind of piano patch but I'm really worthless at editing, and only have the time to practice playing, not patch-making too. I tried for, eh, 5 hours or so. ... Got nothing like a piano. You're at the very least closer, amirite? :)

  • The link is cool, and I'm going to try the things the articles say sometime later ... next month probably, at the rate I have to do things.

Oh, and I have an Alesis Micron. The menus aren't quite as large, heh.

  • what's the difference between soft and hard sync?

  • I've sent you a mail.

  • @se7ense7 can you send me an email?

  • Great jog explaining. I got a few similar but different from each othe pianos and electric pianos on my sh-201 right now!

PS Wuz it supposed to be a piano or electric piano?

  • Doesn't matter. I think it's at its best an electric pianosound... acoustics are hard to mimic.

    Grtz and thx,

    ARD

  • i see you started by creating a hammering effect and work your way from there, cool

  • Indeed, I used sync to create the hammering effect, if you follow the link in the description to the SOS article, you can see how.

  • is there a way to do this on the micron?

  • Yes, exactly the same way... you'll just need to dig deeper in the menus to find the same parameters...

I once saw a micron with an AWESOME piano sound programmed in it, so it's defenitely possible.

    Grtz,

    ARD

  • I like your narrative voice, it reminds me of Werner Herzog.

  • why are your nails black, blue or what? but good working its quite helpful

  • It's nailpolish. It's black. It's punk-or whatever.

I got all the info I needed on the synth secrets from soundonsound...

  • bravo, nive work, I only got the micron, and think its really a fantastic machine. I'm am a dealer who synthetiseurs in paris and make a lot af people discover it. did you send somewhere the sysex patch of your sound ? thanks

  • Nope... wouldn't know how to...

    Thx

    ARD.

  • you are a good programmer, ion is hard to make piano sounds with.

  • It's 1% knowledge, 9% persuation and 9O% luck.

    Reading alot about synthesis helps.

Listening and re-working the sound works too.

    Greetz,

    ARD.

  • Is there a good web resource for Fm synth? Filters and waveforms are virtually childs play but FM is like you said 90% luck but I'm getting the hang of the basics as far as the Ion engine goes which isn't near as complex as the DX series from what I understand?

  • I don't know alot about FM synthesis, part from that it's very hard to manage. A friend of mine got a CZ3000 (works kinda with FM) and he says it's really really hard... I dunno... my best guess is to start with FM8 (software) to learn how to program FM synths...

    Grtz,

    ARD.

  • good game ! it's not an easy task !

  • You're just great, but I have followed all the instruction but the piano sound isn't at the quality of yours! (maybe just lazyness setting the parameters for myself? :D)

  • It's hard to get the different envelopes just right. I spent more time fine-tuning the decay en filter/mod-envelopes then making this video.

If you do a good search on some micron fm patches, you should find a video of a guy making awesome sounds, and a REALLY good piano sound...

  • Ok now that I've "finetuned" (whoah it takes time) I have a decent 60s elec piano... but nothing near a real piano :D I wanted to do some FM but it seems that my oscillators are way too unstable (don't tell me why... no drift/detune applied)

  • Try to make the FM lineair instead of exponential. It gives different results...

  • Linear is what I had been trying for a while.. I am now experimenting some exponential..

  • Fantastic! I think I"m going to try this on my Micron.
