Russian spetsnaz don't fuck around. Sambo is the shit. I like the heavy emphasis on submission holds and joint breaks. I also really like the back breaker move and other body throws this guy pulls off. The only move that appeared foolish and unrealistic to me was the combination back kick and front punch. He appeared to have almost know power in either one. I'm partial to Krav Maga myself but this is certainly an excellent and effective fighting method and this man certainly knows it well.

Why is that??? Sambo is some brutal shit but there are other equally effective fighting systems employed by different armies throughout the world. Not to mention the obvious fact that the Russian army was far from the model for honorable warfare in the 20th century. Nor do the Russians have the most powerful military in the world, though at one point they might have legitimately claimed to be. They do deserve respect, but they sure as shit aren't the only ones that do.

The video shows very flashy techniques. They can work, however, if your rival is disoriented froma good jab or punch you got in at the start, even if it didn't slow down his body or make him weak, it's the same as a bull when he sees a red cape after the guy with the harpoons gets him in bullfighting (hate that thing actually, but the metaphor is good) and the only shameful part atre the knife attacks....I have never seen a knife attacker swing so wildly, they are 10 times better at it

okay, I'll try to end this in a peaceful matter. First off its a demonstration. 2nd MMA is great because it takes out parts you wont need and replaces them with a more affective attack for the combat environment rather then a ring. If you put Fedro Emelianenko in an actual combat zone then he'd most likely lose. If you put him in the ring, he'd then most likely win because those are the environments they are trained in and best suit them.

Combatives are about eye-gouging, knife fighting, biting, knife hand strikes to throats, and most of all killing! MMA fighters would be destroyed under battle field conditions.
