I'm thinking Subaru as a company loves idiocy. Not saying they're idiots, not saying subaru drivers are idiots... but subaru does seem to get a fair amount of their advertising through people showing off doing retarded things with their vehicles.
Don't bother flaming. If you found this video you've most likely spent atleast an hour of your life watching Subaru Youtube videos. This make you as at fault as they are. LOL
I'm not sure you illiterate clowns understand what I was saying here. There was a disclaimer at the beginning that should've told the story. Subies are great. I own one.
I was commenting that people do retarded things with these CARS and that Subaru as a company must love it.
@lezeus just about any braking pressure would slip the wheels possibly causing it to slide, once the wheels beak traction he might find himself actually accelerating.
engine braking would have to be sufficient until his speed lowered.
@pedekiller lol lightly apply brakes, downshift, be ready to correct for any slippage, repeat down to first gear and come to stop, so simpo... and if its automatic then its an automatic fail haha in that case a snowbank would be the best bet.
@pedekiller lol yep, it better be smooth, and even then you'll probably need to correct. as for snow tires, it completely depends what kind you get, they range in price and quality all the way up to full blown studded snow and ice rally tires. I myself have Pirelli winter ice carving, studded on my VR6 which are quite good for a mid-high range winter tire. but even so, its winter driving and you will be slipping and sliding all over the place with speed, but that's part of the fun ;P
I jumped my '04 Forester a few years back. Hit a berm on a SCE service road in the Mojave. I was going around 65 -70mph, the berm was about 2.5 ft tall. The Forester jumped a good 30 feet, landing hard nose first.
Sand everywhere, dirty looks from my girl friend, camping gear all over, and bent rear struts - they were rubbing on the tires.
Replacement struts and an alignment, and everything was good to go.
i got one !! awesome car. just need to keep the suspension up to date and off road only a couple of true 4x4 will touch it. BUT for general off road like with the hill billys-- then its tough..
Awesome :D

@stonereflex hope the downshift is smooth though right?
how much grip do snow tires have (ive never driven on snow myself on the road, only been in a snowy car park with my '71 VW beetle)

I think he ment fake snow. Looked like bad news after the landing, he was moving.

seeing his attempts to stop would be as entertaining as seeing him jump, to bad they didn't have more cameras down the hill :))

It is true that driving a Subaru creates a certain kind of madness. I'm on my second Subie. There is no return from this condition.

It's a Subaru. If just one of the tires are touching ground, it'll find traction.
