Subscriber numbers are sometimes used to indicate popularity and support of a channel. It would be nice to have a way of getting updates about a channel but not lending any support to that channel. Maybe you could call it a lurker vs a subscriber or some other name. It would be interesting to know that the 502 subscribers that a channel has today is really 2 subscribers and 500 lurkers.
@SkepticInTraining Good idea. It does allow a distinction between sub and friend, which maybe has something of the same sense to it, but I see the difference you're making. I'll put it down on the list of possible areas of development
@SkepticInTraining Gd Idea, & a different area of real estate or page for one's lurker channels and sub channels could help -- once the site would have many viewers. A problem I have with YT is that I don't get to view it daily and can be away for weeks so that channels I only watch here and there are lumped in with channels where I don't want to miss any vids. I didn't think in terms of the "support" concept, but suppose this is a decent reason for lurker semi-subs as well

Where's the server located? Who's paying for the hdd and bw and stuff like that? At some point you'll be in need of funding of some kind to be able to pay the hd, bw and all that ...
@upturnedkangaroo I really should go down that route. At the moment I only have access to a computer provided by my employer, and that's windows. I'll definitely look into it though

Also, I'm not sure how useful the data would be because the comments wouldn't actually be associated with a specific YouDoubled user.
Maybe a text file could be created or something with comments from the other site contained in it. Just a thought...

@ReignbowSmite Members are loading up to other sites, including Youtube, and either using embed code or just direct links to videos. If embedding is removed the info can be edited to point to a different source.
@conferencereport ah ok... it's like a gui for video sites that allow embedding. I'm feeling a serious need to get away from youtube (google in general). They forced people to get a get a gmail address to have a youtube account, and they're pushing google+ and I feel they'll eventually integrate all of it. You have to use a real name in Google + <- Homie don't play dat. ._.
