Bonobos rule! My favorite of the primate family, along with humans. Too bad we're not as calm and as peaceful as they are. We can learn a lot about improving our species pragmatic skills (social skills and such) through observing the pragmatic skills of Bonobos as well as another peace loving creature the Argentine Ants... they don't attack their own kind. Funny how humans love to think they created peace, when there are even species of insects that have perfect it. Thanks for the video. Peace.
I think we get as much from Bonobos as Chimpanzees. Sure we make war, but we give peace a chance. We also have always been very promiscuous even in ages when we've been told not to be. Bonobo even perform the same kinds of sexual acts we do.
I saw a special recently about bonobos (PBS?) that contrasted them with chimpanzees. When chimp tribes encounter each other, they square off and fight it out. But when bonobo tribes encounter each other, the males square off and display... but the females of both tribes ignore them, get together and eat lunch. Eventually the males get bored with it all and join the females. :-D
Very good bonobos .. 8)
