Bettas have such a bad reputation for not needing that much space. But like any other fish, the more space the better! Nice tank. You can tell they're happy!
I got a sick 20 g betta community 6 Cory cats (1 Julie 2 panda 1 striped 1 bronze 1 spotted) as well as 1 german blue ram female they get along great only major difference in tanks is size as well as live plants.
all thes betta tanks whith schooling fish, there bettas are always sketched out, they dont like fast moving fish arounf them, if you want your betta to have tankmates get african dwarf frogs lil cory cats mystery snail, dont get tetras and all them fast moving school fish, you can just tell the betta is going wtf 24/7 and thats if they dont nip his fins! its like a dog on the freeway all that shit zoomin by is just too much
1 had a very nice betta called blood. whenever i put my hand in the tank he would ly in my hand but one day my dad put him in a fire bely toad tank with freezing cold water and i was horrifide!!
I love this tank. It's very similar to something I've got in the works now too. I definitely agree with you that this is the way to go if you want to have a betta. They really come alive when you give them space to work with. I have a small school of neon tetras instead of zebra danios but it's a similar concept. Take a look if you get a chance.
bettas are very pretty but there so mean and even to other fish species after many years of having one i'am done with bettas and sticking to nice peacful community fish
@swtsacrifice Their not nessisarily agressive. The problem with having bettas in a community tank is that they're long fins can get nipped at so they may be picked on or they can pick on other long fish. I have a female betta in a tank with five white mountain minnows and they get along great. My male minnows even display to her. and she shows breeding bands and color. She's much more lively then she was on the shelf alone. it's a great way to keep a betta. You just have to be careful.
i thought betta fish killed all fish....weird.mebbe my sis should move her male small 6 month (since we got him) purple beta Fish Fish to a bigger tank, cuz he in a small tiny bowl, not even one gallon...anyways cool
@wolftowerstudios You could try updating him to a 5-10 Gallon tank with filtering and heater (they ARE tropical fish) also get him a couple of tank mates. Ask the local pet store what could be appropriate. and Introduce the tank mates into the aquarium first before the betta. This should give him a new sense of life and keep everyone lively and active. but keep a good eye on him the first little while.
@thunderfang ya i found out that when i went to get my new goldfish (i got a vid of them) and they DO do better in bigger tanks, but my dad says "Fishfish is happy in the bowl so leave him there".lol.
@wolftowerstudios lol nice. My Papi said the same but I went out and bought a 10 Gallon anyway because I felt like it. (Would've gotten bigger but I'm cheap as hell and will not pay $10 a gallon, which is why I shop online!) (And at walmart...). Anyway one tank has turned to a tank and two 3 gallon plastic tubs. (My friend keeps paying me back in fish for buying her food...It's terrible but amazing lol)
Your betta is beautiful! I have a ten gal with a betta, he's metallic blue, and he has a couple of small snail friends :P and I added a few tiny baby guppies to entertain him (and hopefully feed).
Whether that is meant as a ten gallon in US or UK it looks a hell of a lot more...
Is anyone else thinking this? I am about to purchase a 60 litre, about 16 US gallons tank... and it looks a whole lot smaller than that... taller maybe, but not bigger...
hey i've got a 10gal an it has stormy(my HM betta) ty and emi(cory catfish) and speckles(molly) and how do you plant your tank up more? i mean with water grass and pretty leafy plants. i'm thinking about planting my tank up alot and getting 6zebras(also 6 glofish) 4 tetras, 10 neons, a couple of algea eaters and a flying fox shark. but to do that my desert(my tank) needs to be a pretty forest or like the snails say SALAD
