I used to have that same vaughn velocity glove steve kelly's using, same colour and everything and trust me its huge and is above legal sizing, and is therefore illegal.

When going from side to side lead with the stick, it will make sure your chest is parrallel to the shooter. if you let your upper body trail your legs you'll tire out faster and leave more open.

tell your friends to aim for the post/crossbar, unless there is a set place you want them to shoot. some of the shots are coming into areas that shooters in real games wouldnt aim for to score, aiming for the posts ensures that you have to give your full extension on shots if you leave them open. (assuming that none of your friends will hit the post every time they shoot,) plus it will help them become more accurate if they want to improve

@codyrico at least hockey goalies make smart decisions with our saves...how many times do you see a penalty shot in soccer where the goalie dives the complete opposite direction....thats not reacting, thats not even anticipating like hockey goalies do at the highest level, thats plain and stupid guessing
Ur a really good goalie, but the only thing i would say is to get your glove off of your pad in ur stance. I believe that doing that is a blocking technique. I believe that a glove that is out and up is better for 2 reasons. One; it takes away the shooters angle and the pucks angle. and 2; its always easier to move a glove down with gravity, rather than up and against it. I play with the motto; "You can react, then make a blocking save, but you cannot block, then make a reacting save."
@naud08 you are absolutely right! He does do it and it surprises me because of the fact that he is so small. A lot of NHL goalies do that because at that level, the shots come at them so fast that they rely on their positioning to make saves. i.e. a blocking save not a reacting save. There is no reason why that style is a bad way of playing, but at a high school or college level, i believe that you should react first.

Just FYI I know about 10 guys who played Junior B who are now in NCAA D1 or the USHL, and one who I heard was playing Canadian Major Junior last year.
Draft years? Heard of Niklas Backstrom? Curtis Joseph? Ed Belfore? Check their draft rankings.

don't take this the wrong way, but every shot is low, and you go down on every shot...so its a no brainer why you stop everything. the shooters aren't very good with the puck either. the movement is quick and fluid but you have a tendancy to put your glove behind your back when you go laterally...otherwise your slides cover the low net nicely keep it up

Hi, i play goalie and right now its off-season so i play ball hockey. I have trouble cutting of the angles of the shooters a little because the crease is different so im not exactly sure where i am in the net.
do u have any tips for me for better positioning? on ice as well

Sorry bro, no NHL for you. I can make all of those saves easily and I'm struggling with getting an NA team to sign me. PLus anyone who has played junior B is not going to the show, and your draft year was 2 seasons ago. Good luck at Towson.

@jstemz Thanks captain negative. Of course you're having trouble making a team with that attitude. Drop the superiority complex; you just bragged about how great you think you are and admitted that you can't even make a tier 2 team in one breath.
Just FYI I know about 10 guys who played Junior B who are now in NCAA D1 or the USHL, and one who I heard was playing Canadian Major Junior last year.
Draft years? Heard of Niklas Backstrom? Curtis Joseph? Ed Belfore? Check their draft rankings.

goalies like this are pain in the ass as a shooter haha. i think you go down a litttttle early though, obviously this vid doesnt show but i can imagine if a guy makes a good move and then roofs you might have trouble, just a thought. keep it up.

i coach youth hockey and i specialized as a goalie in high school and college. great leg work. the glove is a little low for my liking, but it is still all amazing. go steve kelly!!!!!

Any goalie can make a video like this where they cut out all the goals they let in and just put in saves vs. shooters who look like they're careers have began and ended in mens house league. You're GAA is almost at 7 and you're s% is .850 for Towson University aka a no-namer school that plays awful hockey. You have absolutely terrible style and look like a midget in the net. don't take this the wrong way, but every shot is low, and you go down on every shot...so its a no brainer why you stop everything. the shooters aren't very good with the puck either. the movement is quick and fluid but you have a tendancy to put your glove behind your back when you go laterally...otherwise your slides cover the low net nicely keep it up

Hey guys thanks for all the comments and constructive critism. Ive been working over the past year or so to get my game to the best it can be. No more getting up with the wrong leg or sinking when im in the butterfly. I hope to get a video up after the school year is over (and with my new v4's).
