Crappy landing, terrible attempt at a take off. Maybe the guy was just new on that aircraft type, otherwise he was either cocky or off kilter from that bad landing...

the problem here was that you dont have solid ground to lift straight off of so instead your nose getts caught in water plows allong and blade pulled down

all helicopters are amphibious and can float on water.... :L but not with bad pilots like this :/

There was an issue of pilot error.

All helicopters pull nose forward from takeoff.

What the pilot needed to do was start forward and gradually apply collective, all the while with the cyclic forward.

In this manner it is possible to add collective without going nose forward.

Nearly all helicopters now have skids in place of wheels to allow this to be done without the aircraft actually moving forward in takeoff.

Looks like the pilot failed to disengage the clutch and activate the rotorbrake fast enough. Then when the rotor hits the water with some considerable speed, this is what happens. Also the impact is quite hard as the chopper was not high enough for it to use autorotation to touch down relatively gently, the floats are there for these kind of situations, and is standard on any helicopter ment for offshore use.

It's all about balance. After the fist impact (at0:07) the chopper was damaged and it was partially filled with water. After that the pilot failed to recognize that the balancing changed :-(
