Partition was a blessing in disguise. if not for partion, the suffering would have continued till this date. What pakistan suffers now would be our fate. You may keep romanticising the idea of this relation, but truth be told, we are far too different. Most Educated Indians think less about religion than an average pakistani. Mani Shankar is not talking sense or he is just interested in scoring brownie points. He seems to be advertising Congress party rather than promoting a national agenda.
