@wyvren1990 First of all, don't point at the singers or dancers with your fingers, it's rude. Secondly, never touch regalia or photograph dancers/drums without their permission. Even if you see a professional photographer going around shooting (they were paid by committee). Report anyone going around just taking pictures without permission to powwow security. Stand, unless you are unable due to disability, and take your hat off during flag raising/grand entry/prayer.

@wyvren1990 After Grand Entry (when you can sit), dances will start. Supposed to be grass dance first, but in these times, they don't dance first anymore. During intertribal, you can get up and dance with everyone who wants to dance. If they have a blanket dance, it is courtesy to place money on the blanket (just a dollar). Most of all, relax, have fun. Oh, almost forgot, don't walk through the arena (dance circle) and if you find a feather, tell the emcee, don't touch!

@wyvren1990 During the eagle feather reclaimation ceremony, do not photograph, video tape, or audio record what's going on. It is super sacred. You take off your hat, stand and watch or bow your head and pray. It's rude to talk during this ceremony. There is much involved. The arena director guards the feather till the head dancers get out there and the feather is honored, then retrieved. Hopefully all 3 of my posts have posted. I don't like this new setup, you have no idea if it's been posted.

@KanghiWinyan The grass dance was consisted of He'thuska society members that had a particular war honor. That particular war honor was the scalp of a enemy they had taken during battle. The scalps were worn around the waist by those warriors that had the right to do so. They would dance with those scalps and dance to how they got them scalps such as ducking low, moving to the side to miss an arrow, etc. Latter the scalps were replaced by sweet grass that were braided to represent those scalps.
