  • Randy, I don't understand the "section" you used while on, what is it and were do I find it for my location? Thanks

  • @KC9UBR For Field Day you need to exchange ARRL Sections. Search around ARRL site for Section List.

As usual a quality production allowing us (your fans) to experience 08 field day with K7AGE.

p.s your demonstration of sat comms has inspired me to part with some cash. I should be the proud owner of the Arrow antenna courtesy of Antenna warehouse, any day soon.

Tnx and keep up the excellent videos!

  • Quote - "It saddens me you find the very positive area of K7AGE to further insult me. I do not poke fun at your tics from Tourettes. As far as being fit I am 5'11", 178, play volley and softball, bike, hike, and you? You might check out my new video on YLs.:

You bucked under pressure to lighten up a little and posted a video, should we say thanks? I insult you because you're a LIAR and an ahole. You lack any character at all and red shows off your man tits, avoid it for our sakes, thanks.

  • Burt (K1OIK),

As always you have something negative to say. Judging by your QRZ profile you have nothing but disdain for Amateur Radio. K7AGE posts good video, you post bad ones, even the one you tried to be positive in, was horrible.

Next time wear a shirt that doesn't show off your man tits, Ham operators are supposed to be fit remember, or is that just everybody else, not you.

Your students won't be Ham's right, with an example like you, it's no wonder why.

  • It saddens me you find the very positive area of K7AGE to further insult me. I do not poke fun at your tics from Tourettes. As far as being fit I am 5'11", 178, play volley and softball, bike, hike, and you? You might check out my new video on YLs.

  • Nice Video Randy. You had to do it! My wife is sitting here eating spaghetti and you said "Roger Roger Dodger" and it set me back YEARS trying to get her to take radio seriously.

HI HI. Looks like a GREAT time.

  • ham radio is great.......... randy your great. You cant beat this hobbie......... 73 randy love the field day. 5STARS!

  • Awesome setup. Didn't know you could communicate via satellite. How does on go about getting licensed for operation?

  • Wow, the last comment was pretty rough! I'm just glad to see any videos about ham radio. Thanks for making it! It was my first Field Day in many years, although I operated from home on commercial power... The old CW fist isn't all that these days... only 28 contacts. 73 de AA1AR 1D WMA

  • You sure are the king of video. Your video's are always first class. Keep up the great work Randy. I wonder what you use for video equipment.Again thanks for your hard work. You have given me the urge to try field day like that next year.

  • Just a simple Panasonic DVCAM and Sony Vegas editing software. Start planning your field day for next year. Randy

  • Another great video K7AGE!

Sony Vegas works well, have you tried Pinnacle? I use Vista and even with the patches Sony Vegas Platinum has errors at times while Pinnacle doesn't.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Very nice video Randy. I like your trailer setup. Alas, I was unable to participate in FD this year, but I'll gear up for next year with my little portable solar setup.

    73, John W5RML

  • Randy, another great video. This year I participated in a Field Day with a Dayton, OH club (WC8OH). I gave the FT-897D a good workout on 20, 15, and 10. Hopefully, I'll get my videos posted soon. 73, Ned N8OIF

  • Randy, Thanks again for you hard work. I tried from home with my Yaesu 817 totally from battery (5 watts) on 14.285 didn't make any contacts but had fun. Thanks also for Hamvention 2008!

  • QRP can be a challenge during a contest. Glad that you tried and had some fun. Randy

  • Thanks for the video, I was busy this weekend studing for my Amatuer Extra upgrade (which I obtained) and didn't get to be active in field day operations, can't wait until next year, hope to make a contact with you... Great Job.

    KI4TYJ

  • You are excuse from field day to take and PASS your Extra. Congratulations. Have fun next year. Randy

  • Randy, Great Video. Just from this, I think I'll look for a field day for next year. Also You have inspired me to get the Arrow Antenna from your other videos, communicating with satellites, it should be here any day now. Thanks Again and keep them coming.

    73

    John

  • John, have fun and good luck with the satellites. As you saw working the satellite from a portable setup can be a challenge. I gave a satellite talk at a radio club a week ago and I did make a satellite contact during the meeting. I was lucky! Randy

  • Another great video Randy, good to have a little insight into field day.

    James

  • Haha, the QSL with W7Y was great! Great vid as always.

  • I didn't even make it to field day. I had my rig all setup from the previous week while on vacation. A days worth of rain brought out the bugs in force. It was a million of them versus one of me and they won.

  • Make sure the bugs send in the log! Randy

  • Sounds like you guys had loads of fun.

    Keep the vids comming Randy.

    de steve, MM0SGQ

  • I tried listening for you on 20M and 40M but I didn't catch you. Did you happen to get WD5IYF in your log by chance? That was the local club I operated with.

  • You can imagine my excitement that while logging for another operator, I heard K7AGE on 20M phone.

Randy, I personally hold you responsible for getting me this far. Your videos have driven me to pursue a more active role in Amateur Radio, and working Field Day at K6LRG is only the first steps.

    Thanks again.

  • I heard in the background from one station 'that's Randy' it might have been you. I worked K6LRG on 20 & 40. Several stations recognized my call from my youtube postings. I also think that some clubs may have been using my PSK videos for their educational offering at their field day event. Fun was had! Randy

  • hey randy me chris again and i was my field day as well i got close to 400 comtacts 121 on 20metrs 96 on 80metrs 47 on 160metrs and 107 on 40 metrs on phone and 7 on 6 metrs <--lol

i was calling cqfieldday and 2 callsigns 1 was

W9ATG 2A-IN and N9TT 2A-IN so if u check ur log and find any those u got in contact with my station

  • another great vidio randy. still getting some good copy useing the psk31 program you said to try. not getting much joy from the n1mm that you were useing on field day. but as you say, it's all about having fun

  • Hey, Randy, had my first HF contacts at field day. :)

One question, the Satellite Arrow Antenna can be just used as a regular yagi for either VHF or UHF band, right?

  • Good going on your first HF contact. Yes the arrow antenna canbe used for both VHF and UHF bands. Probably not a good choice for a permanent antenna, great for portable. See more about the antenna in my satellite videos.

  • Also 1B in Illinois!

  • Nice field day video !!!

    Vy 73 de DL2PAN André s.w. Germany..

  • But 10 and 15 were open pretty good.

  • I didn't have any antennas for those bands, oh well. Randy

  • Did not get many west coast stations only about 5 band wasn't open but it looks like you had fun!

  • awesome video! i also participated in field day by sitting home and listening on the 10 meter and the scanner on the j pole.

  • like watching your videos more than tv lately, keep em coming.

  • I know what you mean, nothing but summer retreads. Randy

  • Its even worse, its winter here. South Australia. Cheers.

  • I was using the generator to run the air conditioner in the trailer! Randy

  • Hi Randy

  • Hi Randy

    Great video as always.

Sounds like plenty of activity on the bands for fd.
