I have learned that if you put a slight angle in to the corn hips that it will wear your blades more evenly than going right down the rows. it makes a big difference. the ones in the middles dont wear at all hardly and the ones on top of the row will wear a bunch. if you go at an angle they wear evenly. we disk ours with a JD 32' 630 in the fall and let them rot through the winter and you hit em once or twice in the spring and they fall apart. they make good organic fertilize too.
anybody who cuts corn land in straight down the rows aint really cutting corn stalks we always cross cut after harvest no matter the crop unless its tobacco rows like my vid where you cant cross the rows if you can look down and see where the rows were at one time then you didnt cut them lol
So why do you all disc your stalks? We haven't pulled the disc out of the shed in years. We have a 25' disc and pull it with the 200hp 4650. We normally work stalks with a Summers Super Coulter
Now thats a TRACTOR!! I fell in love those machines as a little kid and i've like them ever since. Even though I'm a skid steer guy myself. Thats one great piece of Deere you got!
Yes, you are correct, the 4440 was rated at 135hp from the factory... but our's was turned up a few times over the years and ran a bit hotter than factory rating.
AHAHAHA I see we arent the only ones with a tweaked 4440! we had ours at 200hp but that was to many ponies for the ole girl! We have her back down at 150hp
That is a nice John Deere

We traded our jd637 disk for a sunflower, we could never get that 637 to do a nice job of leaving the ground level.

How much hp is the 8770? Growing up in the 80s we used to pull a 21ft disk with a 4440, but yeah it ran at 195-210hp.
wggreen 3 years ago
325hp we bought that disc so the 8100 could pull it to it was on the grain cart that day
