Thank you so much! I bought a mitten pattern but have been too scared to start it because I know I would have "second [mitten] syndrome"!!! Your video was very clear and easy to understand!!!
@719corkie Thank you, I hope my video does help you, once you make one pair, you won't look back. You are not alone, sometimes trying something new is intimidating to us at first. Best of luck on your mittens!
I wouldn't know how to make a video for you tube you are way ahead of me. I can't even use my digital camera to its fullest. I really suck at taking pictures, I didn't when I first got the camera, but I have managed to push the wrong button and wreck something
happy holidays
I look forward to more learning from you in the near future
I just love that you reply quickly. I stopped the mittens for a minute, I am knitting a coffee cozy for a swap. I am so glad you are doing tutorials, you're a great teacher. Thanks for the explanation on continental. I was grazing around ravelry the other nite and came upon two new groups (russian knitting) there are so many different ways to knit,........wow it is interesting. Keep up the tutorials - you should show us how you do thumb gussets.
@marlibpretty Glad I could help. Gussets and how I make mittens, and also the after thought thumb are in the works, watch for the new video's in the near future. I have finally figured out how to edit video's (still learning how to do this stuff). Just like knitting... Practice makes perfect. :))
Is it personal preference that you do one mitt in english style? Thank you so much for this cast on, I knew how to do k,p longtail, but I didn't know cast on for magic loop, or magic loop. Yay for me, I have already finished one pair and have started on the second pair. I extended my Denise needles for now..................thank you thank you
@marlibpretty Normally I knit Continental, but, because I was making a video and wanted to teach other's I did the one mitten English style, for those that knit that way, and the other Continental for those people. Just trying to include both styles :))
thank you so much for this video, I was going to do my mitts on two circs, but after watching you I have started magic loop. I am following your pattern from ravelry in the I make mittens group. Love that one. One thing tho, I still dont get why you ladies need such long cords. Mine is only 30 inches, I put two of my Denise together til I can get my long ones in the mail. I always thought I could never do magic loop with the Denise, but your video helped me immensly......thanks again
@marlibpretty Working with the thicker cords of the Denise makes it a bit more challenging, but not impossible. One thing you can do is try and make sure that the magic loop part that the cord twists over the other cord. If the cord is pulling away from each other you will find that on the sides of your mittens, you will get laddering. You want to try and keep the cord twisted, so that it doesn't stretch your mittens/socks. :))
Lori, thanks for this video! I find knitting two socks, mitts, etc, one at a time is stressful for me because I'm so anal retentive and want the measurements and # of rows to be exact. I also like having both done at the same time. JOY! JOY!
I also have never seen a purl cast on before. I've learned so much from this one video. Very educational video!
@cybercrafter I was like you, I hated doing duplicates and worrying if every row would be the same for each mitt/sock. This method is a life saver for me too as I am also a perfectionist in my hand made items. If it is not perfect, I'll frog till I have it to my satisfaction. If you have any suggestions for more videos you would like to see, please let me know what you are interested in learning. :))
Hi, I think you are great at this video.........you are very calm and very thorough and I love the way you are teaching. I haven't tried magic loop yet, but I am getting closer. Great job and thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trish
@patsyshatsys Thank you Trish for your great response to my video. Your positive comment is appreciated. Once you start doing the Magic Loop you will never want to go back. The biggest thing is to have good circular needles. Using the cheap needles with stiff cords will frustrate you to no end. This is one investment I would highly recommend. :))
@lori1551 Thanks for the "surprise" reply, Lori.......that was sweet. I am a KP member, saw that you had just posted a video.........so I went to check it out ...very glad I did. I will get good circular needles this week and go back and follow you step by step. I like the way you explain....any thoughts for other videos? Maybe continental knitting? Or socks on two circs? I am retired but always want to learn new/better ways to do what I love to do. Keep up the good work..........Trish
I'm glad you like the video. I'm sorry that some of you find my audio annoying (I've seen the forum posts). I'm new at making video's and wanted to assist newbee's as well as long time knitter's. I apologize if you find my voice annoying. Lori

That method of estimating the length of the tail is GENIUS! And I never cast on in purls--it's a great idea. Thank you!
