Dice is horrifying. The sight of people shouting along like that says that everyone has seen the routine before, which is already a bad thing. He just comes across like some kind of glamorous TV evangelist. Were his jokes not filthy, in that tone and with that kind of participation, it sounds as if he could cry 'hallelujah' or 'amen' at the end of a sentence. That's not good.

His technique and delivery are virtually flawless, and his material is interpolated with a deep understanding of the daily realities of ordinary people. He says the things that we ourselves can not, and he helps us vent our frustrations at a world we only partially understand. Andrew 'Dice' Clay will be remembered far longer than any of the other comedians you mention, simply because his material is better.

I used to share your elitist, self-regarding opinions, and Stewart Lee was one of my favourite comedians. IN MY OPINION The cleverest funniest stand-up in the UK, probably the world even. He came 12th in the 100 Best Stand-Ups Ever and they used exactly the same clip as they did in 2006.
