  • @quantum023 I LOVE YOU TOO !!!!! :p .. hehe

  • This is an excellent, extremely helpful tutorial. Thanks for your help!

  • Very helpful. Thanks!

  • Thank You - very clear instructions. I have the same set-up but with Lucid and Windows 7 and it worked straight away. If guest additions isn't present, Ubuntu asks whether an .iso should be downloaded, click yes and it downloads to the ~/.VirtualBox directory and appears in the cd drive of the guest operating system. I can now also copy and paste text into the guest operating system.

  • @Tru3m0sl3m what OS are you running? -the host?

  • Great vid bro!

  • w'sala,

  • jazakallahou 5airan yé 2é5i(may allah be in your help).....

    it helped me

  • Thank you this is exactly what I was trying to do.

  • How can you do this with Windows host and Ubuntu guest?

  • Thanks a ton! So simple when someone explains how to get the sharing working!

  • It worked for windows 7 host and windows xp guest aswell, cheers mate :)

  • Is there anyway to save in the new mounted drive? If you're trying to move documents from the Guest OS to the Host, can you just copy them into the new shared folder?

  • thnks a lot.. this is very useful..:).

  • This was one of the best tutorials I have ever seen. Thanks a lot for your help & for doing the work that you do!

  • i knew it was like that but didnt know i had to install the manager 4on my guest also ... ty my friend

  • im running Mint

how the hell do you mount and access shares. Mint is a guest OS over win 7

    thanks

  • @CraroruTech yup

  • @Tru3m0sl3m what OS are you running? -the host?

  • @CraroruTech you could install linux and then windows as a guest. Btw i don't think your host will get effected if you've got a firewall.

  • @CraroruTech well just disable the file sharing and networking

  • Thanks, that really fixed my problem. Keep up the good work.

  • Hi. how to i do that the other way around if i have Windows 7 host and ubuntu guest?

  • Thank you friend :D

I used this for my Mac host on XP Guest and it works perfectly well.

    5 stars :D

  • What recording program are you running?

  • gtk-recordmydesktop

  • wow! i've actually done this before, but forgot how to, and for some reason although i spent so much time searching, i found a vid which explained how to do it, but your video just left the other one in the dust! You explain all the procedures really well and made it really clear to me what to do! Thanks, i'll check out your other vids! =)

  • Thanks worked perfectly!

  • Thank you so much. After 5 years on Linux I was actually considering just switching back to WinXP. Have Virtualbox installed but it wasn't worth much. Can't burn cds. Can't copy and paste between Linux (Debian) and WinXP. Can't get the file sharing working?

Your video made it all work perfectly. My mouse works without any keyboard strokes-bonus. Copy and paste between Linux is now a no brainer. File sharing works great, easily.

I will check out the rest of your videos.

    Thanks again,

    Steve

  • thanks your video helped a lot!

  • Fantastic. Video tutorials have to be the future. I want on so many forums before coming here, all telling me to use terminal, edit a line of code that wasn't there, power down my machine, whatev. This was everything I needed. Thank you.

  • Nice! Love the accent too, haha... Keep the vid-tuts coming! ;)

  • Thanks you alot !!!!!! Really helped me .....1u got 5 stars from me :P

  • thanks for your tutorial.. it helped me a lot.. :)

by the way.. what are those monitors in your top panel?..

    want to have those.. XD

  • RIght click "panel" and Add to Panel and choose System Monitor

  • i only get one monitor (cpu).. you have more than one.. thanks btw.. :)

  • sorry for the late reply i hope you have figured it out by now just right click on the applet and look for options/preferences and select the other devices you want to monitor.

  • Never mind, I answered my own question... I just started the virtualbox additions daemon (sudo /etc/init.d/vboxadd start) and then used "mount" with the type "vboxsf" and then my share name and mount location (I'm new to the command). My command was:

sudo mount -t vboxsf [share name] /home/[my username]/[some directory]

  • Ok, so now how do you do the opposite? I'm running an XP host with an Ubuntu VM and I tried connecting to the "vboxsvr" on my share name ("vmshare") and it says it cannot find it. It actually cannot ping the "vboxsvr" host either.

  • Thx! It helped me.

  • best video tutorial for this helped alot and your English is great mate thanks alot
