mine didny work. did it as you mention. got the the stage of sharing the folder and it doesnt show up for me. WHY!!!!???? ive been at this for ages!!!
I need some help, with connecting through my usb wireless device the software will install on xp but i need to get the device running and then share from the xp to ubuntu host i use a TP-LINK WN422G WIRELESS USB
Thank You - very clear instructions. I have the same set-up but with Lucid and Windows 7 and it worked straight away. If guest additions isn't present, Ubuntu asks whether an .iso should be downloaded, click yes and it downloads to the ~/.VirtualBox directory and appears in the cd drive of the guest operating system. I can now also copy and paste text into the guest operating system.
Is there anyway to save in the new mounted drive? If you're trying to move documents from the Guest OS to the Host, can you just copy them into the new shared folder?
lol, for what reason do u hate us? I hate Arabs too but I am one of them, not becuase of their origin but because of how they act. and yes i do live in the middle east.
wow! i've actually done this before, but forgot how to, and for some reason although i spent so much time searching, i found a vid which explained how to do it, but your video just left the other one in the dust! You explain all the procedures really well and made it really clear to me what to do! Thanks, i'll check out your other vids! =)
Thank you so much. After 5 years on Linux I was actually considering just switching back to WinXP. Have Virtualbox installed but it wasn't worth much. Can't burn cds. Can't copy and paste between Linux (Debian) and WinXP. Can't get the file sharing working?
Your video made it all work perfectly. My mouse works without any keyboard strokes-bonus. Copy and paste between Linux is now a no brainer. File sharing works great, easily.
Fantastic. Video tutorials have to be the future. I want on so many forums before coming here, all telling me to use terminal, edit a line of code that wasn't there, power down my machine, whatev. This was everything I needed. Thank you.
sorry for the late reply i hope you have figured it out by now just right click on the applet and look for options/preferences and select the other devices you want to monitor.
Never mind, I answered my own question... I just started the virtualbox additions daemon (sudo /etc/init.d/vboxadd start) and then used "mount" with the type "vboxsf" and then my share name and mount location (I'm new to the command). My command was:
sudo mount -t vboxsf [share name] /home/[my username]/[some directory]
Ok, so now how do you do the opposite? I'm running an XP host with an Ubuntu VM and I tried connecting to the "vboxsvr" on my share name ("vmshare") and it says it cannot find it. It actually cannot ping the "vboxsvr" host either.
Dude, you rock. Thanks!
