In my opinion, shows like Histeria were never meant to actually TEACH us but to INSPIRE us to learn more. I doubt I'd like history as much if it wasn't for this show. In terms of occupation, historically it was Hispanic, as was the occupation of the rest of Argentina. When Argentina signed the declaration of independence from Spain, that included the Falklands. That was in 1816, and the freaking Brits invaded in 1833.

@06taxford 1. Yes they did, WW2. 2. That's a tricky one. You're right about Spain trying to invade England, not the other way around. But one could say that the reason they failed was because the English fleet invaded the Spanish Armada before they could invade England, hence why the line is "went after the Spanish Armada" and not "invaded". Also, I'm not sure if this happened or not, but I heard somewhere that Queen Elizabeth was able to get some English pirates to invade Spanish fleets.

The British fleet, outnumbered and outgunned, led by Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, caught them en route. the ensuing engagement was known as The Battle of Trafalgar. The Franco-Spanish fleet was utterly annihilated, though Nelson died in that battle, immortalising him as one of Britain's greatest heroes [a monument of him is now placed in Trafalgar Square, atop a pillar].
