you guys, especially the younger generation, you have just witnessed perhaps one of the best performances of time on the sax. in Clarence Clemons. He was simply, the best. RIP
Thanks for posting this great Bruce Springsteen classic. The sheet music for Roy Bittan's wonderful piano part on "Born To Run" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
When I first saw Bruce in '84 it was the last of the ten shows at the Meadowlands (before the whores at PNC and Izod took it over) I'll never forget this song. He walked out with the E Street Band for his fourth encore, gave a little thank you talk and then they all turned towards Max on the drums, jumped in the air and they tore into "Born to Run." When the drum opening was finished all the lights in the Arena went on at once and I felt like I had been ripped by my throat out of my seat.
I love his sincerity and realism - his songs could be the soundtrack to millions of ordinary lives. Who hasn't seen the youthful dreams crushed or tamed by adulthood? Who hasn't wanted to just jump in their car and leave it all behind? Who hasn't been left alone with their grief when the rest of the world has moved on? Springsteen writes that songs that the real world demands, and that's why he's the Boss.
Your first car, a hot summer nite, your girl next to you on the front seat. The greatest rock and roll song ever written. And it just keeps getting better. TRAMPS LIKE US!

Wonderful - his voice sounds boyish, hesitant, as if he's trying the song out on audiences.
