  • I love this song... We sang it at my cousin's funeral last July. I was bawling by the end of it. <3

  • This isn't the key it was originally written in, but the key change, the immature Sequestered in the beginning, the perfect soprano high note and the spotless blending between genders makes even someone who has choral pet peeves melt and truly remember why I fell in love with the human voice. It is an instrument amongst itself and no others. This song is my gateway to heaven.

  • this is beautiful.....thumbs up all the way!!!

  • We are singing this at my school this year and i think its just so pretty:D

  • i think this might be by the university of utah singing...maybe...??

  • I know who sings this...its uhhhhh that one choir... "unknown choir"

  • Beautiful sound, just needs some more dynamics to make it even more powerful. This is one of my favorite songs I've ever sang in choir.

  • This song, is a song sent from God, You can FEEL the power in the lyrics and notes. A perfect combination of high and low notes. You can FEEL the emotion in the song. I get chills when i hear it.. God is IN this song. I just can FEEL it. (:

  • Why is the tempo so slow?

  • @anakinfan12002 its slow so you can embrace the lyrics and understand them. listen to it fast. its not that good

  • I sang this song at a competition with my high school choir and it was most definately not as good as I hear in this version.....crud....I hope my choir teacher isn't reading this.....lol This piece is performed nearly flawlessly and I LOVE it. <3

  • hey I think I know witch choir is singing Biddeford High School Chamber Singer b/c we sound like this

  • this song gets me every time......such a beautiful piece....this is true music and art

  • nothing about religion

    at all

    its abt death, and acceptance

  • excuse me but this song was made not for religous things...it was a song for people who loved music......the writer stated that it was a song for music lovers and wanted to include three things to hav in the music, a love song(self explanitory), a requiem(played for a person at death), and a lullaby(self-explanitory)....the reason why i kno this is because, the person who made this said it in an interview

  • oh and the only religious thing in there is one word is god! and itz not even talkin about god! itz talking about dying and singing a requiem

  • My choir at school is doing this song. <3 it makes my day so much :D

  • my choir is doing this song, i immediately fell in love with it (:

  • @cloverchoralierchick

Well, you can't blame the chorus, it's the conductor for that.

But as for the vowels I think it sounds fine, specially compared to most others.

  • thank you. this song is beautiful and this is a very good version.

  • I have an identical song that I got last time. The filename states that the artist is "Boston College A Cappella 2K". Not sure whether or not it's exactly the one though. Whatever it is, this is the best version I've ever heard from youtube. Others may be technically good. But this one possesses that magic from hanging silence that is carried through in threading stillness.

  • omg i did this song for

    choir in windsong hell yea!

  • This is the Cantabile Singers from Boulder County Colorado directed by Robert F. Farr. Great music :)

  • this is the one i got off of limwwire best one ever. the blend,no vibratto, and the different key than the other one s on here

  • .......thats realy good its just lovely i added it to my favz :)

  • The guys need some work.. enterences are all out of wack...

  • The only thing about this... That some of the Harmonies don't sound right because... The Tenors don't sound strong enough in this piece.... This song usually has a lot of presence with that section... but not so much here

This version is still beautiful :)

  • I know exactly who is singing this song. I am part of the choir who went to Carnegie Hall in 2005 and sang this. It was a mass of 3 choirs including Sebring High School, from Sebring, Florida, Irvine High school and one other school. This is my favorite song from the program we put on. I have it on cd and it is identical. I am absolutely positive.

  • I'm an Atheist, myself. But I still find this song beautiful. It was very well written and performed perfectly.

  • We're singing this in my high school choir right now. It's so beautiful. T_T

But it's not really a religious song... it was written to express how much music means to us... I don't think it has that many spiritual aspects, except for the fact that it talks about heaven.

  • I really love this song. We are singing it for our May concert this year, and we are very small. See, our school is really small, Covington, OH. Well, the high school has like 60 kids per grade. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depends on how you look at it, we only have 9 choir members this year. So we sang this song for the first time this week, and we are all doing so well. It really does sound amazing, and I can't wait to perform this beautiful song

  • Sounds wonderful. :) J/w, but what part of Ohio is Covington in? Just give me a small reference - Upper Ohio, Lower, Eastern Side, Western side, middle-of-the-state...? Just curious to how far you might live from a friend of mine. XD

  • wow, just 9 singing it?

    that's not very many !

haha. i hope you do wonderfully, i wish i could hear it.

  • so i have a recording of this song with me and my choir from '06 and i was trying to figure out if this was the professional choir or a local school, it was hella funny cuz i was listening to the songs at the same time so i played them both at the same exact time, and its crazy cuz my ipod and the singers to this track were on the same note for note word for word its hilarious! and at the same time awesome that we did that good as a HS choir vs a college choir! =)

  • Oh. I know this, but I don't remember. It's a University choir, I'm pretty sure. We're singing this in choir and we heard this recording today. I'll try and check the name of the choir tomorrow in class. =]

  • dammit all

this song is one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard, and i'm happy to have had the pleasure to have performed it

but i have such a hard time listening to it... it reminds me so much of a good friend of mine that passed shortly after i performed it...

  • We Are Singing This In All-Shore Chorus!

    Its so beautiful

  • I've loved this song for a year now, and the love ain't dying!

  • you should hear the kansas city chorale sing this song. it's amazing!

  • OMG I KNOW!!!

  • I came here to see if the KCC version was on youtube. I got it from amazon music... but I wanted to share it. Best version I've heard.

  • I like how you put pictures with the song. . . I love to do that with music. . this is a beautiful song anyway, but the pictures make it even more moving.

  • coherent words cant begin to describe the beauty of this song...

    -speachless-

    5 stars

  • this is the most beautiful song! i love it!!!!!!!!

  • hi you wondering what chorus sings this song well that's easy its the BSH Chamber Singers singing it thats who

    -Reymond Cyrus-

  • Thank you very much! I'll update the info at a later time, when it's not so late. :)

  • @EvenxInxDeath been 2 years now :p

  • Do you mean the BHS Chamber Singers? If not than ok. I love this song. When I first heard it two years ago I cried.

  • soooo pretty! i'm singing this for choir i love it!

  • this song is gorgeously done!! It brings shivers and tears to me.

I}t reminds me of all the people that I have lost over the years whether death or distance.

    and I'm a guy.

Great acoustics and great pure vowels.

  • SO Beautiful!!!!! can't stand it!!!

  • my choir sang this song right after one of my best friends died... there wasn't a dry eye in the whole place

  • hell i can't even listen to this song without crying anymore <:)

  • This is an excellent song. I do like the men's version better, but this is an excellent recording and I can't find a men's version. Great slideshow, btw.

  • I also didn't love the little ununified whistle on the S's, although it is not major.

  • I absolutely ADORE this song. I think the men's version is better, but this was divinely performed. Too bad the performers are unknown. Thank you for this video and the slide show IS appropriate.

  • @choirnerd101 maybe it's because I sang it SATB in high school but I can't really listen to an TB or SA version, it has to be mixed.

  • Do you know where the recording came from? It sounds almost identical to a chior I sang with. We did a tour through the east coast singing 7 different churches including the Immaculate Conception in DC and all the large cathedrals in New York city. This was one of our favorite songs to sing and as I was listening to it, I was singing along with every pause as I remembered it. It might be us, or it might not.

  • This performance is appropriately sensitive. The accompanying slide show is not.
