  • please don't make dislike to this video!!!!

  • @Pippilas1993 you know what, i will.

  • I'm playing this for my college senior recital. The first movement still needs a little work, (mostly the high f) but is coming along really well. The third movement on the other hand.... YIKES it's a beast. I do wish there was a video or recording of someone else playing this. I mean, I love Alessi's playing (it's even better live), but it's always nice to hear a few different interpretations in addition to your own.

  • I saw the music to this today, and it doesn't look possible. But of course, Alessi plays it flawlessly.

  • i miss playing... this reminds me of my friend, he's so good at tbone. he plays so beautifully, i loooove his solos

  • so i bought this piece with piano accompaniment and was looking for a recording of this with piano and then realized that there isnt one...cause this freak is the only man alive that can play it :P

  • and on a 1G none the less! or atleast thats what ive heard.

  • @lordofdastrings76 its a Greg Balck Alessi 1G, which is closer to a Bach 2.5G

  • This is amazing. Perhaps it's just me, but I feel that this style of music that Ewazen presents is more fitting for bass trombone. This reminds me a lot of his Bass Trombone Concerto.

Again, it's probably just my preference.

  • 3:56

the two trombone players in the back ground liked that peddle note

  • he sounds like a master trombone player, christian lindberg is phenomenal but he sacrifices the trombone sound for a more euphonium-like timbre, which he played throughout his youth. it's a shame but this guy knows what it means to play TROMBONE and give it a trombone quality.

  • I ordered this song, it's pretty tough.

It actually goes into treble clef for a couple bars.

  • where did you get it from? i cant seem to find it anywhere.

  • JW Pepper carries it.

I'm sure some other sites have it, but it'll probably be $25 on all of them.

  • Eric Ewazen, a great composer .... I had the pleasure of playing the Grand Canyon, one masterpiece ... And Alessi, a Master of Masters....

  • was this in a movie?

  • it sure sounds like it should, but im pretty sure it wasnt.

  • Are there any recordings of Vision of Light?

  • Yes... There is a cd of the same name published by the Columbia University Wind Ensemble with Joe Alessi also performing the solo.

  • Actually it's Columbus State University, and the album is called simply Visions. It includes works for solo trombone and band by Appermont, J. David, Rumbelow (the conductor), and this one.

  • et moi vive alessi

  • You know whats crazy? I am playing the vibe player in this video. And that alessi dude was amazing. Made the trombone sound like a different instrument.

  • I cant help but notice the third chair trombone...

How many times was that bell heat treated?

  • it's just an unlaquered bell, one that is very tarnished

  • Gotta love his eyebrows.

  • you got Alessi to perform with you guys?? damn.... lol

  • Como puedo hacer para bajarme este video a mi ordenador? yo tambien necesito ayoda,, que alguien me lo diga ,, gracias por adelantado,,

  • Vive Ewazen!

  • thank you :D

  • Ése video lo vi hace tiempo pero no pude bajarlo, como hacen para bajarlo, una ayuda por favor, gracias.
