@ohmainzte Good looking, how's the first 2 weeks of bootcamp trying to remember everything, and what are the main stuff I gotta have down withing the first 2 weeks?
Ha haaa...I think I know where you are at. My parents stayed at a (maybe) hotel when I invited them over for my graduation+3 day liberty. How were you able to make a vlog when you didn't even do your battlestation yet? O_o
@skizzlebot your wearing a gas mask, and they have about 16 or so people take them off at once and recite your name and division number. Kinda forces you to breath it in, it sucks lol. It's not torture or anything, it's so you know how it feels so if it happens, you'll be less in shock, more likely to survive.
Kids man...lol .... I have a question about the leadership positions in bootcamp. How do they choose? I've been busting my buns doing extra studying and PT to have a good chance at snagging one. Anything you can suggest?
@Navy1ism I definitely recommend snagging one of those and doing your BEST to stay on it. I had one and got fired 2 weeks to the end. My 2 week replacement got the promotion from E-1 to E-2. I shrugged it off back then, but I'm an E-2 now, I was supposed to be E-4 for completing special program but I got dropped. Now I have to wait til I'm E-3 so I can strike for a rate!
@toknblkguy I got CTT leaving in july, idk if that's similar but hows the A-school and after you get out of bootcamp, what's life like..how soon can you pick u a phone etc...dang no hairline though, I figure that takes too much time for them huh lol where you from?
@altiwholcomb You'll get chances to make multiple phone calls in boot. When you graduate they let you out in town from 1-2 days depending on your orders. And then when you leave, they just drop yall off at the airport hours before your flight, I used the payphone for a long while. At A-School, there will be a NEX. The NEX is like Walmart, not like the 7-11 look alike in boot. You'll have the chance to choose a cell provider. (DONT BLOW YOUR MONEY)
@toknblkguy im a high school senior and in DEP and i set to go to boot camp this december. first of all great video, a lot of good advice but i was wondering is there anything else i need to know about PT? i play high school sports but ive heard from different people that its really difficult but others said it was really easy, so any response would be greatly appreciated.
@CAbel540 yea you'll be alright, its not that bad if you're in shape.. and if your recruiter will probably have you do a mock PRT.. its just a mile and a half run, push ups and sit ups
Congrats bro! I'm shipping on March 14th haha I'm ready, I'm ready! @Josuel... The nerve of you to throw out insults, when you don't even know the proper name of the test. It's the ASVAB...smh
"Boot Camp Boot Camp Don't Be Blue...My recruiter Screwed me too...." You guys got to be thinking past Boot Camp because you are there only for a few months,But your ass is going to be in the fleet for years and it isn't anything like Boot Camp!!!!!!
@ChandlermanOg Yeah, you can if you want. If you don want to or can't pay for it or something, let your recruiter know and they'll give you the test at MEPS. It might make your process take an extra day though, in case work or school is a consideration. I just got done with the whole enlistment process and I ship to RTC on June 26th. @ChandlermanOg goog NAVY S.T.A.R.T. book or you can just type it in on google... actually ask a recruiter for a S.T.A.R.T. but i dont believe you get one until you enlist

Do you have to know how to swim good? Or just swim, I know how to swim but dont know all the different strokes and stuff like that, and do you eventually get to keep all your uniforms and blue camo fatigues cuz I really want mine lol, enlisting summer 2012
Took the ASVAB, got an afqt of 93 and scored 60+ on every test, recruiter told me to do Nuclear Propulsion, but i'm more serious about the intelligence field. TS clearance, the schooling is great, and the private sector opportunities rival Nukes. (Without the insane dropout rates/being overworked.)
@gmsquared pass your dep pqs, the intitial pfa, and graduate on time, and yes, you can be e-2 by the end of boot. if you can get two nsw/nso or nf contract referrals you cen be an e-3 before you even leave. also if you have over a certain amount of college credit hours you can get advances (36+ for e-2, 48+ for e-3) there are lots of ways to get there, ask your recruiter for a START guide, it covers all of this

If you have been in choir, band, or a drill team and tell them, you may be put in the 900 division. It's the division that performs at graduation. While everyone else is doing pt you are practicing and get 0 pt time. The only pt you do is the tests, which makes it harder.
@Sunnyd4112 the asvab score required for Army is 31.. Navy requires minimum of 51..before u take the test u fill out the form and mark which branch ud like..the kid right nxt to me b4 test was undecided if he wanted army or navy..but he chose Navy.. unfortunately he scored 50! thus he had to
go home and retake it at least 1month after.key: study
@toknblkguy - I am interested in joining the navy and i am just trying to get as much info before i commit myself to this you know. so how often do you get breaks? and can you have relationships with people in the navy, like date a shipmate? thats not important but like i said im just trying to know it all.. plz respond, thanks.
@NavySEALsfreak Well to start off, breaks in boot camp dont really happen, ever. A-school it gets better being that you can have liberty after classes and on the weekends. But you have to earn the liberty. Do not join if you are not going to be 100% commited. Nobody wants to deal with a shitbag. And as far as dating shipmates it is very frowned upon. Yes you can but do not do it with your shipmates on your ship.
@NavySEALsfreak Yes i graduated boot camp almost two years ago. Boot camp for me was a little longer than 8 weeks because when i got there we were put on hold for P-Days. To be honest the military isent for everyone. Especially now with all the budget cuts about to happen. The military is always the first place gov looks. Not to put you off on the navy or anything. I have loved my time so far. You just have to be commited every day. And it starts with the moment you enlist. Think it over.
@stratinthehat0414 okay, i know I've been really interested for about 3 years but like you said i am only going to join with 100% commitment, how difficult was boot camp for you? Because like a lot of people say there's no discipline and blah blah blah, but since you been through it you would know... thanks.
@NavySEALsfreak Boot camp for me after the first few days was easy. It really involves little to no thinking, you fold a lot of clothess, PT a fair amount, and do a lot of class learning. Its not supposed to be a breeze you are supposed to be broken down somewhat so the navy can form you into what they want you to be so you will work well in the military. Every person is different. It depends a lot on your RDC's or "drill instructor". You wont know until you join and go though.
@stratinthehat0414 oh i see. and thank you for replying because a lot of people don't or they'll comment dumb shit. is there anything i can study so i can score higher on the ASVAB?
@NavySEALsfreak go to a local library and look for asvab training books...the questions on the asvab change so you can't completely study for it, but you can study problems that relate to each section of the asvab...i just took mine like a week ago...& try to score pretty high, because my recruiter told me that they aren't really taking too many ppl because of how many ppl are starting to join now.
@NavySEALsfreak i think like 31 is passing, but my recruiter told me that if you score in the 50s and higher, you're pretty much guaranteed a spot up to MEPS (she said that most of the scores they see are in the 30s or 50s)...then you do all of the physical testing and all that mess.
If you smoke or anything make sure that you're ready to quit & your system is clean...if saves you a lot of worrying & if they find anything in your system at MEPS you won't get a second chance...
@NavySEALsfreak Oh yeah & if you know anything about Woodshop related shit or automobiles, or you used to, make sure you study up on that too...They never told me but those 2 things were their own sections in the ASVAB...it'll open up more job opportunities if you do well on them..
@NavySEALsfreak Study all the basic I.E math, english, science. Just search on google for ASVAB study material and it shoud bring up a bunch of stuff. Make sure if you do decide to do this while at MEPS if you make it in think long and hard about what rate(job) you want and do some studying on it. If you havent allready contact a recruiter and they will help you with whatever other questions that you may have. Also start running and doing pushups and core workouts if you arent in the best shape.
@stratinthehat0414 how do you contact a recruiter. i don't smoke, but thanks for all the heads up it'll be helpful and im in goo shape but could be a little better on running.do you think its too early to be learning ASVAB or getting in shape when i wont leave for another two years,?
@NavySEALsfreak Go to navy.com or google recruiting loacations around you. It is never too early to start studying or running. These r life decesions you have to make. Being physically fit and always learning. Never plateau or give up. This is the military of new and they arent taking everyone because of the high retention rates. Always have a winning/positive attitude. A saying me and my friends made in boot camp that helped us is if you cant get out of it get into it.
@scrumptiousb0dy I don't know what the lowest score you can get and join is, but when I went you had to get a 50 to be eligible for an enlistment bonus
@pvtking18 No its not by region .. its because the demand for jobs is greater than the jobs available my friend got a 49 and still couldnt get in so dont lie
@pvtking18 Sorry for sounding like a dick but when I am right I stand my ground best of luck too you though.. I took my ASVAB today and scored 84 I am going into bootcamp as a E-2 for my 1 year of college and I should be a E-3 by the time I get done
@SomeCallMeRuby males get 12:15 for the 1.5 mile, females 14:45. 60 pushups in two minutes for males, 30 for females (actual test is for 46 for males and 20 for females, but they push you past that until you collapse) 54 curls for male and female (again, they push you to 60 anyway)
@SomeCallMeRuby shots, yes a lot, wisdom teeth, more than likely you will have 2 or all 4 pulled if needed, 1.5 mile run depends on age. for me I'm 23, so i have to do it in 13:30. pushups, 60.
Dinhel I feel you. The recruiter told me at the DEP meeting last night that I won't have to go in undesignated now...he put in a request yesterday for me to have a rate and ship date. I'm not really concerned with my rate (ironically)...the ship date is my main focus is getting a shipdate around the same day I ship out now (march 16, 2011)...should I go undes in march or wait for the rate and a-school?
First of all; I find your video's very helpful, Second, like if you flunk a test during bootcamp as far as book work goes, I have heard they just set you back a week if you fail a test, and then they keep doing so until you pass... is this true? I simply dont want to get in there and get dishonor-discharge over something I didnt understand from the book, or does it not work that way? Please explain!?

I'm Shipping October 3rd. I have a long ways to go but I was in ROTC and was on the drill team for 4 years (last year for drill) so I know my General Orders, Chain of Command, Marine and Navy Ranks, History and all. The only I need to work on is physical aspect and Sailor's Creed.
Dam, ya you do, you don't really have to work on anything for bootcamp. Sure it doesn't hurt, but that is what bootcamp is for to learn all that crap and get you up to physical standards. Will it make it easier? Sure. But is it a must... nope. Bootcamp isn't hard, It's mainly just a pain in the ass, just remember everything that is said or done to you in bootcamp that isn't training, is probably bull sh!t
@manaicchris oh yea bro...we'll be there at the same time (kinda). I've been working out made crazy. I'm concerned about the swimming, but other than that...it's Navy all the way and other some
That's what's up; I leave march 16, 2011...undesignated but I asked for the earliest ship date. I'm going in as an E3 so hopefully I'll have a rate after sept.
Like I told that other girl it's important to know for boot, but you'll learn it all there, having it down now helps in a way, but it's really not a huge deal at all.
hey bro, do they teach you how to swim if you dont know how to swim?? cuz im leaving this march and ima little nervous cuz i dont know how to swim. LOL
they can teach you there, you don't have to be a pro-swimmer by the end, they just want you to be able to stay afloat in the water and move around a little. It's not a hard swim qual.
A school depends on your rate, diffrent rates go to diffrent place for a school. Most go across the street from bootcamp. That place is just like bootcamp, except you get liberty (off time). If you don't go there, it will be a hell of a step up from boot probably, but nothing beats being at a real command, be it fleet or shore. That's the best.
@ohmainzte Yup that's my master plan to move up in rank. Why did you get fired? Good luck with moving up! Where are you stationed?

If you have been in choir, band, or a drill team and tell them, you may be put in the 900 division. It's the division that performs at graduation. While everyone else is doing pt you are practicing and get 0 pt time. The only pt you do is the tests, which makes it harder.
peaches26183 1 year ago

NavySEALsfreak 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak Well to start off, breaks in boot camp dont really happen, ever. A-school it gets better being that you can have liberty after classes and on the weekends. But you have to earn the liberty. Do not join if you are not going to be 100% commited. Nobody wants to deal with a shitbag. And as far as dating shipmates it is very frowned upon. Yes you can but do not do it with your shipmates on your ship.
stratinthehat0414 1 year ago
@stratinthehat0414 yeah i get what you're saying. how long is the boot camp? an have you been through boot camp before?
NavySEALsfreak 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak Yes i graduated boot camp almost two years ago. Boot camp for me was a little longer than 8 weeks because when i got there we were put on hold for P-Days. To be honest the military isent for everyone. Especially now with all the budget cuts about to happen. The military is always the first place gov looks. Not to put you off on the navy or anything. I have loved my time so far. You just have to be commited every day. And it starts with the moment you enlist. Think it over.
stratinthehat0414 1 year ago
@stratinthehat0414 okay, i know I've been really interested for about 3 years but like you said i am only going to join with 100% commitment, how difficult was boot camp for you? Because like a lot of people say there's no discipline and blah blah blah, but since you been through it you would know... thanks.
NavySEALsfreak 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak Boot camp for me after the first few days was easy. It really involves little to no thinking, you fold a lot of clothess, PT a fair amount, and do a lot of class learning. Its not supposed to be a breeze you are supposed to be broken down somewhat so the navy can form you into what they want you to be so you will work well in the military. Every person is different. It depends a lot on your RDC's or "drill instructor". You wont know until you join and go though.
stratinthehat0414 1 year ago
@stratinthehat0414 oh i see. and thank you for replying because a lot of people don't or they'll comment dumb shit. is there anything i can study so i can score higher on the ASVAB?
NavySEALsfreak 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak go to a local library and look for asvab training books...the questions on the asvab change so you can't completely study for it, but you can study problems that relate to each section of the asvab...i just took mine like a week ago...& try to score pretty high, because my recruiter told me that they aren't really taking too many ppl because of how many ppl are starting to join now.
SunnyD4112 1 year ago
@SunnyD4112 foreal!!! what is considered a accepting score?
NavySEALsfreak 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak i think like 31 is passing, but my recruiter told me that if you score in the 50s and higher, you're pretty much guaranteed a spot up to MEPS (she said that most of the scores they see are in the 30s or 50s)...then you do all of the physical testing and all that mess.
If you smoke or anything make sure that you're ready to quit & your system is clean...if saves you a lot of worrying & if they find anything in your system at MEPS you won't get a second chance...
SunnyD4112 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak Oh yeah & if you know anything about Woodshop related shit or automobiles, or you used to, make sure you study up on that too...They never told me but those 2 things were their own sections in the ASVAB...it'll open up more job opportunities if you do well on them..
SunnyD4112 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak Study all the basic I.E math, english, science. Just search on google for ASVAB study material and it shoud bring up a bunch of stuff. Make sure if you do decide to do this while at MEPS if you make it in think long and hard about what rate(job) you want and do some studying on it. If you havent allready contact a recruiter and they will help you with whatever other questions that you may have. Also start running and doing pushups and core workouts if you arent in the best shape.
stratinthehat0414 1 year ago
@stratinthehat0414 how do you contact a recruiter. i don't smoke, but thanks for all the heads up it'll be helpful and im in goo shape but could be a little better on running.do you think its too early to be learning ASVAB or getting in shape when i wont leave for another two years,?
NavySEALsfreak 1 year ago
@NavySEALsfreak Go to navy.com or google recruiting loacations around you. It is never too early to start studying or running. These r life decesions you have to make. Being physically fit and always learning. Never plateau or give up. This is the military of new and they arent taking everyone because of the high retention rates. Always have a winning/positive attitude. A saying me and my friends made in boot camp that helped us is if you cant get out of it get into it.

@mattrox27 your correct, i spoke to my recruiter he said it is 50 as of now, but thats why he is waiting until september to let me join, my fault

shot's? wisdom teeth? how long for the 1.5 mile? how many pushups in how long? pull ups?
SomeCallMeRuby 1 year ago
@SomeCallMeRuby depends on your age
toknblkguy 1 year ago
@SomeCallMeRuby w w w. navycs.com/navy-fitness-assessment.html
toknblkguy 1 year ago
@SomeCallMeRuby males get 12:15 for the 1.5 mile, females 14:45. 60 pushups in two minutes for males, 30 for females (actual test is for 46 for males and 20 for females, but they push you past that until you collapse) 54 curls for male and female (again, they push you to 60 anyway)
Crypt1cmyst1c 9 months ago

ToriAvent 1 year ago
@ToriAvent

Dinhel 1 year ago
@legslikewhoa Make sure you know the general orders in and out of order. They will ask you them in random order

hey bro, do they teach you how to swim if you dont know how to swim?? cuz im leaving this march and ima little nervous cuz i dont know how to swim. LOL
wenk47 1 year ago
@wenk47 Yeah they'll teach you until you know how. They will ask you if you know how to swim or not.
JoshD8282 1 year ago
@wenk47
they can teach you there, you don't have to be a pro-swimmer by the end, they just want you to be able to stay afloat in the water and move around a little. It's not a hard swim qual.
Dinhel 1 year ago
how's a school?
btodalew9890 1 year ago
@btodalew9890
Dinhel 1 year ago
after graduation, do you have like a week off before going to A school?
