Very nice!! A lot of people don't know but the most Iconic Hendrix album--his first one RU Experienced? The album that sold a 12 million Fender Strats---was actually recorded using a Tele borrowed from band mate Noel. If you listen real close to Hey Joe you can really hear the Tele tone.
@univibe23 Noel DID NOT have a Tele at that time. He sold it to get his Jazz bass a few days after he got the Experience job. Hendrix *may have* used a Tele on the Purple Haze and Foxey Lady solos with his first Octavia. That's it. The rest of the album is ALL STRAT.
Noel used a borrowed Tele for Red House that was tuned down to sound more like a bass.
@rickwicz I did get it wrong. To quote from Dave Hunter's great book Guitar Rigs:"And before you go buying that left-handed neck and vibrato bridge to add on to your right-handed Strat to get the Hendrix sound, consider this: Hendrix borrowed bassist Noel Reddings Telecaster to record both Hey Joe and Purple Haze—a sobering revelation for anyone who ever quoted those tracks as classic examples of Jimis great Stratocaster tone."
no, no... i've got one - a 1952 version! I've had it restored and now it looks and sounds great! And a strat, a martin, a gibson les paul, a steel guitar and a fender jazz bass! lol... I love guitars
As a person who was lucky to've seen Jimi alive on numerous occasions i have to say you sound GREAT! Outstanding rich tone on your Telecaster and a great sense for that fast "chittlin circuit" rhythm that Jimi learnt after backing Wilson Pickett, Curtis Knight and The Isley Bros. Tell other youngsters about Jimi! 41 years later (since he hit the scene in 1967) he's STILL INCREDIBLE!
What an inspiration this is! I will now learn this note for note and guaranteed that I will absolutely butcher this song.... but what the hell... so cool.
try to hold the chord and just move your fingers around the chord instead of lifting your fingers off. I know its not possible but if you try your notes and the chords will be more fluent because you wont be lifting your fingers so far off the fretboard. instead of sounding like a robot. E7#9 and A7#9 the just keep your hands and fingers as close as posible to the fretboard
this bloke, is wicked, y r there so many wankers on youtube, who feel they need to criticise everything, he is prob a lot better than u, so shut ure mouth. btw uno who u r. WANKER
There IS one trick: buy a metronome and use is ALWAYS when you practise. Then all you have to do is practise for at least an hour every day for a couple of years and you should have pretty decent rhythm after that.
I am now convinced that you are Jimi in his after life haha, great sound. You should learn Voodoo child(Slight return) and post a video, i've been dyin to here that done right by somebody...
Nice to hear it on a Tele.
