  • Okay, it is awesome, but the real question ist: WHY?!

  • the first one removes the 15 block wire length and uses half the amount of redstone

  • @BlobyFloby yes they did

  • OMG, u r awesome *clicking like-button* ;)

  • how can you hit blocks from so far away? (whats the single player command?)

  • Hey sethbling!

After watching this video, I decided to make a calculator without using any redstone dust, torches and repeaters... When I'm done I'll send the world/schematic to you, if you want to show it to anybody. And I'm not using the logic gates you built, except for the NOT gate, I couldn't figure out how to make one any other way. It'll probably take me a while though, given that I still go to school and have a life. ;P

  • you actually need redstone for the detector rails and pistons

  • @Attilladehun it's a proof of concept, and technically he's right :)

  • @Attilladehun Yeah, if you're doing it in survival. In creative it's a different story.

  • The XOR gates output didnt turn off when you turned both inputs off! :3

  • Small block mod! Install it NOW!

  • You did use redstone :D on the power rails and the pistons. (troll face)

  • I would love to see your full computer.

  • You lost me at the first one.... :3

  • dell on the left. mac on the right lol

  • cant wait to play battlefield 3 in minecraft on a 1920x1080 blocks display..lol

  • Now build the whole computer.

  • I dont see what's so ''Computery'' about it is...

  • I know this is a proof of concept, bt the computer would be overly slow and largecom

  • MAN YOU ARE A GENIUS

  • and i build a dirt house with automatic doors :) srsly!

  • No redstone= no pistons

    No pistons= no computer

  • @Kero0x9 placing redstone

  • @Kero0x9 he said "without any Redstone Dust, Redstone Torches or Repeaters." he never said anything about the crafting

  • wouldnt the detector rails count as redstone? the answer is yes...

  • @xMW2xACRking pistons are made with redstone too

  • @Kero0x9 ahh yes. dont wanna forget those!

  • can i run windows on it?

  • Cool. My 4-bit adder with 3-bit input is glitchy...

  • Ok, it's circuits. Who will build computer?

  • But you need redstone to power the rails

  • @skorpion010100 Nope, just a lever/button/pressureplate...

  • @skorpion010100 lever

  • Who would do that when you can use redstone?

  • you, the voxelbox, and capainsparklez should try to build a sentient AI with redstone

  • i see London i see France is see red stone on this map

  • How is this guy not an electrician?

  • @Petzku314159 Dude whats a 2 bit adder even do?

  • "without any redstone" Is holding a stack of redstone :P

  • Your first try with the XOR has the Output set all the time even though both intputs are out! What did happen there?

  • more of a cart-puter than a computer.

  • challenge accepted

  • my head hurts

  • Instead of adding dragons as end of minecraft Notch should make an Ethernet cable output in some sort of mountain and to finish the game we have to build PC with network interface without using the redstone and sent e-mail for help.

  • 3:34 I'm 13 and I know that all you need for any gate is wire and inverters, because any gate can be made from and gates and inverters and wire and you can make and gates with inverters.

Also, I've made a 2 bit adder, expanding it to three bits and, challenge accepted. When I'm done, I'll remake it ALL without any redstone wire, torches or repeaters.

  • is it just me or...is this the steampunk of minecraft?

  • what's the point of making a computer in minecraft what will it be able to do?

I don't get it, if wnyone coulld explain that would be great.

  • it's awesome, but it's not practical, cause they're bigger, and require much much more resources, and only a bit less redstone. some have more even!

  • It may take more time but the minecart

    ones look freaking awesome

  • sorry about my recent post, truly its a not both wire.

  • one comment, the first "and wire" is called a neither wire, not to be rude.

  • i would like to say, taking discreat math has helped me understand you when you talk about redstone

  • this is not that hard to understand its pretty easy

  • my brin hurts

  • today i made a door...

  • This is going to be one clunky and loud pc.

  • Minecraft > Multisim.

  • Yo dawg, I heard you like computers, so I put a computer in your computer so you can compute while you're computing with your computer!

  • @ajjtazman COMPUTECEPTION

  • @ajjtazman computeception

  • Awesome! Now build a T-flipflop :P

  • I would use minecarts for making a computer, just because i can put pigs in them :D

  • I will take a corse in college, computer science, and make a regular computer, then transform each gate, circuit, and wire into redstone free one, although, that will take a good 8 years.

  • Aha, but you need redstone to make the pistons and detector rails.

    Checkmate.

  • @wortho27 HAHAHAHA, so? this is pretty awsome.

  • OR, NOT gate.

  • I shat my pants when I saw an XOR gate.

  • minecraft, a game about placing blocks, mining AND BUILD FUCKING COMPUTERS?! Without redstone? What comes next?!

  • @TheStoffl96 buttonless ipod

  • @TheStoffl96 Circles.

  • @TheStoffl96 next is building a computer within a computer that you built in minecraft on your computer. :)

  • @TheStoffl96 a ball.

  • @TheStoffl96 circles

  • @TheStoffl96 The new build height.

  • @TheStoffl96 Grand theft auto of course. Mine. Build stuff. Build computers. GTA simple human evolution.

  • Iron Golems :)

  • Comment removed

  • poop

  • @sethbling so helpful :D

  • 7:52 anyone who deals with red stone knows that...no offense

  • @sethbling great concept, I really like this video. One thing I did notice however is your rs nor latch always has both states on during the transition between 1 and 0 ( or on and off if you prefer)

  • This is a cool concept, but I don't understand the purpose. In every case except one, this system is larger, slower, and more expensive to build than standard redstone.

  • @Annile12 The purpose is to prove he can do it.

  • @Annile12 there is no purpose that's why its a proof of concept

  • And YOU will do the computer...

  • for the RS NOR couldn't you just have one of the first 2 plates as 1 output and the other one as the second output? The other part with the pistons seems unnecessary.

  • detector rails are crafted with redstone. :/

  • This is kinda clever, but why not use normal redstone ? Didnt get that part

  • that last minecart one looks like the doodle jump guy

  • Oh shit son you're a genius

  • "only if exactly one of these two inputs is on" At the end, neither are on, but the output is still on. Not being a dick, it's amazing stuff, but I just noticed it ^^

  • btw im a noob but, what the advantage? and dont tell me its just because of not using redstone , because thats no advantage in anything

  • this cost more redstone and iron and gold

  • you need redstone dust to craft detector rails and pistons...

  • @Kabumba253 If you want to do this legit, by all means do so.

  • @limitedward no you fail he was hawing the red stone to show wether it was in a power or non power state any one who listens to Seth would know that.

  • @MrCurlyJack Um. You don't seem to understand what he is talking about. You need redstone to craft pistons. You need redstone to craft detector rails. Seriously, he said it quite clearly.

  • this is really cool but i dont see the point of changing from redstone to minecarts... it seems like it would just further complicate things.

  • @ThePuffy42 he's challenging himself

  • You need redstone to make those components XD

    fail

  • @LimitedWard No you don't. The redstone at the beggining was for demonstration purposes.

  • @DoomedLich I'm talking about the detector rails and other components.

  • Haw do we make an elevator

  • rs nor latch... i say rs snorlax thumbs up if ur a pokemon fan or used to be

  • Lies! You used Redstone on the Right Side!

  • @ZGBradley Actually listen to what he said...He said the redstone was to show whether it was on or off.

  • cool video but if you would make a computer it would be huge

  • we are 1 step away from playing minecraft in minecraft.

  • @BrickFilmsCinema

prelude of chambers by berick cook.

    Nuff said

  • @BrickFilmsCinema we must do it

  • @BrickFilmsCinema Minecraft in minecraft already exists. look it up on youtube :)

  • @BrickFilmsCinema Mineception O.0

  • @BrickFilmsCinema We are. People say it's impossible in practice, but it is theoretically possible.

  • @BrickFilmsCinema Someone has already done that awhile ago, just google hanslemurson minecraft in minecraft

  • @BrickFilmsCinema I was so close but then notch destroyed one of my favorite gate systems. :[

  • @BrickFilmsCinema mineception!

  • @BrickFilmsCinema I am playing Ugly minecraft in Minecraft.

  • @flamingdeception and it has 2 inputs :P

  • if everyone uses this concept instead of the normal redstone wiring, in adventure maps or mechanisms, people can tell if whatever they did actually do something because of the piston sounds.

  • The Rs/Nor latch is actuallt just a t-flip flop with two outputs.

  • already creating computer with redstone is hard, now, you give challenge to us build a computer with minecarts, pistons and rails...

  • Is the not a and b gate used in combination locks?

  • The first XOR broke dude.

  • This is a great idea! I'm getting to work on some mechinsms now.

  • If Rube Goldberg was a computer engineer...

  • 1:54 Here we have a little orgy

  • you can use boat and water to make signal travel downwards however, it would be slow to update.

  • @ExSeaD The other problem is that boats break themselves really easily, and it would be hard to get them onto a pressure pad without getting them stuck on the pressure pad.

  • @ExSeaD And even slower to move boat back.

  • I thought of this myself made a few but then watched this and now if I post it it would look copied. D:

  • this idea is absurdly useful! even just a minecart on a detector rail is a powered block that can be pushed by pistons, making it possible to make a infinitely expandable wire, from a single location. sadly, due to block update bugs, it doesn't work properly :(

  • @DUCKY3654 Repeaters also do this and can work infinitely right? Pistons/powered blocks/minecarts are just using much more resources, I don't see how this is useful, but it is really neat :/

  • ill try it

  • I remember seeing something about fire logic, where you used fire, gravel, and wool to compute. the gravel would prevent fire from spreading under it, allowing you to make ORs, etc. OF course, the computer had to be rebuilt everytime it ran, and it had a possibility of losing signals, but it's a computer.

  • You forgot the clock even though a clock is easy to make even without redstone.

  • When the pistons retract at around 1:02, is that a new form of Instantwire?

  • they look like a d..k

  • They look like the pod racers from Star Wars.

  • just we try to make a windows pc :P

  • @sethbling hey, hey seth!!!! wut the fuck is wrong with you!!! why would u even try to make a functional computer on minecraft out of imposible materials like minecarts and shit! you have broken my brain! but this is still cool XD

  • but to build those you need redstone :D

  • this is great but i cant imagen someone making a computer out of this!s

  • For the memory cell you dont need the 3 carts you only need one

  • OW. ow ow ow. my head hurts after being over-exposed to your pointless genious-ness. Ow.

  • LOL! This is great XD

  • On the XOR gate the power never turned off?

  • For the upwards wire couldn't you justuse sand with the cart on top?

  • why?!?!?

  • You say you don't use redstone at all in these components. So tell me, how do you make the pistons? =D

  • but how would you carry the output on? i mean, you use all those logic gates, but the output is lost.

  • @Nikklas57 just ignore my comment, im stupid as hell

  • @Nikklas57 the first one can move the signals

  • @Nikklas57 First one: Replaces wire, just connect it instantly to the output mechanism.

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!

  • that will be very slow XD

  • Comment removed

  • For that big multi-level XOR gate, it looks like you eventually turned both inputs off, but the output stayed on. That didn't happen with the flat XOR gate though, so I guess it works better.

  • well really he actually is using redstone dust because you need to use it to make the detector rails

  • You WILL make this computer!

  • ingenious, but pretty pointless

  • @9386919 If you think this is pointless then you obviously haven't tried making an 8-bit computer in minecraft that can run at least 1 number per minute.

  • good luck then.

  • how do you do the auto rain turn off command?

  • What do you want the computer to do?

  • when you get google up on your computer here call me then i might take a look .

  • @tothemtotheb Cause our computers just magically appeared, no one had to work on them to get them as fast as they are today.

  • You make life too hard but in a cool way T_T

  • This is really cool but I don't think anyone will actually make a computer using this method.

  • If you thumbs down you are a troll period.

  • Omg.

This would sound SO AWESOME when it was running.

You'd hear CHUNK CHU CHUNK CHU CHUNK CHU like it was an engine running. :O!!!

    It'd probably be very loud.

It also seems like making memory on a computer like this would be easier than normal, since you could in theory use the minecarts as physical memory.

Kind of like a solid state hard drive VS a normal optical hard drive.

That may not be correct though. I'm more of a software guy than a hardware guy.

  • But will they blend
