  • Didn't they only build one side of the ship for the movie?

  • They only build the outside of the ship. There is nothing from the inside, only steal and wood.

  • why isent it set in the 1908-1911

  • what most people don't know, is that they only built THAT side of the ship

  • make sure you dont hit the ice brige again

  • Closest replica of the ship!

  • aparently the set they built was over 100feet shorter than the actual titanic because of the budget. so the took sections out of the ship each in-between the funnels. that is why on the film the ship looks so short when filming on the boat deck.

  • @godseesnocolour Not 100 feet shorter. It was built to 90% scale. That extra 10% saved them alot of money.

  • this was for the movie titanic

  • @Bobinti no shit

  • Woah!

The waters must be fudging cold

i heard the water is 2 degrees warmer than hypothermia. [how do u spell this?]

  • So did they just destroy it after it was built????

  • wow they should make another one, itll only take 45 seconds, maybe make 5

  • This was taken at the Studio Film Site in Baja Mexico. I saw it several times while travel down to Saint Rita. There's a resturant just south of there that holds alot of film props that were used for the James Cameron movie.. Worth seeing if you ever get a chance to go. But be carefull crossing the border now.. Last time the Mexican Military pulled us over with guns.. Asking why we were in Baja Mexico.

  • What strange weather for 45 seconds.

  • The amount of work in that they might aswell have just built a real ship.

  • lol at the people that think this is the first titanic ship that was built

  • there weren't cranes back then

  • haha did they have cranes then?

  • this isnt the titanic, its the titanics sister, i think its called the new york or something.

  • @matty7159

    ???

  • @Matty7159 this was the set made for the 1997 titanic film, and titanic's sister ships were called olympic and britannic.

  • the ship they built is over 80 feet less long then the real one. and there is no complete front its cut off....i have the titanic special collectors edition. it shows alllll the complecated things they had to do to make the movie

  • Youd have to have people that know how to run and maintain steam engines and

to pay them to be there to operate and watch over everything,

I dont know if theres is even blueprints left at this late date for the recip engines in the titanic?

I mean it would be totally romanitic to see the old recip engines run and hiss and smell as par original,

but even if you could do this,

the cost would be totally rediculous just for the engines alone to make them as they were in Titanic.

  • They estimated that in todays dollars?

It would cost about 100 million to make the Titanic as it was in 1912,

The Queen Mary Cost 80 million in 1936,

so the Titanic wouldnt be far off in cost,

I dont know if they would do the power system in steam engines, and center turbine as original?

Historically,,, it would be nice to see the old towering steam engines running,

but from a cost standpoint ?

it would be totally outdated, and youd have to have people familiar with antique power.

  • Funny thing is the built the ship the wrong way round, cause it sailed out facing the other way, so all the writing had to be back to front

  • it sucks....it really sucks....millions of people are starving across the world and others waste millions building fake ships for gay movies....tragic...

  • is it rooms in it?

  • its cool

  • i cant believe it only took 45 seconds to build

  • Yeah :D

  • @resolypf4 Steroids ! :)

  • @MegaHockeypuck1 can you build me a rose doris in 45 seconds? haha

  • @resolypf4 What 's a rose doris ?

  • @MegaHockeypuck1 Jack's missus!

  • what sucks is that the gigantic was hit by a torpedo and the titanic hit an iceberg so, they scrapped its sister ship because it was rusting

  • this is the one they used in the movie

  • they seriously built on just to use in the movie? wow that was a waste of money

  • amen

  • Not really, considering the fact that the movie was a commercial success.

  • Don't be silly. It cost £250m to make the film, inc building the set and that investment made billions at the box office. It's not how much you invest but how you invest it! They made a stunningly detailed scale replica which gave modern film-goers a beautiful feel for what this majestic ship was like. Beautiful work, great film, no waste at all.

  • Not really...all the dock workers fed their families on their wages, and the movie guys made their money back times ten. It's hard to define "waste" sometimes". They should have at least put her into service as a cruise ship instead of scrapping her when the movie was done.

  • thats a mighty fine prop they got there XD

  • Is that the one they used in the movie???

  • yep

  • They atually built the fucking thing? WOW! That movie earned every penny.

  • i wonder how they made the ship breaking scene

  • they made a scale model and actually put it in water i think it was about 25 foot long

  • CGI

  • well actually brickmanlight you are wrong the olympic was scrapped in 1937. So the idea of the movie titanic being filmed on the olympic is a bunch of crap

  • To all you athiests out there: it was said that not even God could sink this ship and what happens...GOD THE ALMIGHTY SINKS THE 'UNSINKABLE SHIP' for He is able to do all things.

  • Did they really say that? I know they do in the movie but as for the real thing I'm not so sure.

  • nope, it was weak riffets made from a bad mix of metals, the fact that they lost the binoculas so they couldn't see the iceberg till it was too late, and the ship was too big with a ridiculiously small rudder. if there was a god (which there isn't till proven), this was nothin to do with him

  • @taimkhwaja Nice of him to kill 1500 people just to prove a point.

  • What is that iceberg in the background doing there?

  • What is the iceberg doing there? It's sitting quietly, licking it's chops and waiting for the Titanic to come out and play....;)

  • hahaha :)

  • you spell't original wrong

  • few lil facts :0

yes a full scale wel Half replica of the titanic was made for the 1997 movie but :P

only half the ship was made,

aaand the ship is about 30-40 feet shorter then the real titanic itself

and the funnels, big as they are on the set they ar actually smaller then the orignle,

and the sad thign this entire beauty itself was dismatled and sold for scrap :/

  • the most titanic movies ar made on the sister ship named ''the olympic''

  • BRICKMANlight, you couldn't be more wrong. The Olympic was de-comissioned in the 60's! And by that time, her interiors were deminishing anyway.

  • nope, it was scrapped in 1934 and demolished on 19 september 1937

  • no that ship wasn't ever at sea it was in a giant pool

  • Yea, they built her again for shooting the TITANIC film from 1997. :D 4 stars!

  • seriously?

  • Yes! Cant you see that? :P Thats not from 1912! ;D

  • no, the total price as it was originally but without the Macorni Radio is $35 million.. and btw nice video:) was that for the Titanic movie?

  • You mean "Marconi", I believe.

  • Is this the ship they used in the movie or the real titanic?

  • lol are you serious? The ship sank in 1912 LOL!

  • of course not! the real ship sunk in 1912! and if they wanted to use that ship , it is all moulded away!

  • AmandaTasch it was used for the movie

  • This is the ship they used in the movie. If it was the real one it would be in really old black and white film, with a huge gantry built all around it. This is actually just half the ship...they never made the other side, they just mirror-imaged the starboard when they wanted it to look like port! LOL.

  • could that drive in the sea?

  • I cant beleive they worked this hard just to destroy the ship later in the movie.

  • its for the movie

  • @bensonak47 you twat its for james camerons film 'Titanic

  • Nowadays almost everyhing is made via machines which will eventually put men out of work. In the old days it was all done by hand which is impressive not all these machines doing the work for them

  • lol its like lego :)

  • Whoo! there building a ship that sinks. They should just build the whole thing since they spent the money on it and use it! P.S. yes I know ohhh that's the most retarded idea you've ever heard blah blah blah

  • I heard they only made one side, & to show the other side everything in the scene had to be backwards!

  • where is it now?

  • no where lol. they had to destroy it to make the end of the movie :p

  • oh... that make sense

  • lol the real ship is in pieces some pieces are on iceland some piceses lie down on bottom of atlantic still and some are somewhere:P

  • The Ship was dismantled for cover budget costs, since the movie was well over. James cameron was very disappointed the decision was made.

  • jesteś tam halo

  • Is this real? Cause I have seen that they didn't make a real ship, but it's made with computers..

  • Yes, they made most of the ship, but not all of it

They added in some sections digitally and such, and the water, while some shots are models with people added in digitally

Though they have to be standing somewhere on the ship during all those scenes, right?

  • pokemon gotta catch em all

  • yes

  • if i were the director,i would definitely make a real ship..so its more usable, after shooting the movie, they can use fer cruise travel!

  • You can't do that. It would have cost over a Billion to build a real ship... and you wouldn't have the luxury of using the facade to appear it's sinking. I agree your idea would be cool, but financially not possible and you just can't sink a real ship - then raise it.

  • I never said sink it.

The real ship would just crumble.

  • I wish someone could make a hotel ship full scale titanic. not to go on sea just to experience her glory.

  • That's a GREAT idea! They should have done it with this set in Mexico. It would have made a big deal for a small town down there.

  • What an give them all Swine flu?! I don't think so!

  • 1999UTD, they sold the set for scrap metal because it got ruined when they submerged it during the sinking scenes.

  • nice build!it looks like the real one

  • Did that thing actually float?

  • Yes, although during the sinking scene... It did actually sink, so the stern was sold for scrap.

  • darn..lots of money and food stamps!!!!!

  • i cant believe they just scrapped it at the end of the movie!

they spent 200 Million on the movie, you think if they had any sense they would keep the set there, or move it, and turn it into a tourist attraction.

i think they scrapped it to sell all the parts for scrap, kinda greedy dont ya think. i mean, they only made 8 Billion dollars on the movie, they do need a bit more dont they?

  • Rebuild the ship exactly how it was made at the time would cost about 5 Billion... @_@

  • Is your quoted price of $5B simple arithmetic to compensate for inflation, or does that take into account the fact that modern shipyards aren't eqipped to build old-method ships? You'd need to train a shitload of riviters, and find someone who could build big-ass reciprocating steam engines, someone to manafacture cast-iron hull plating, someone to custom make a few hundred miles of old-style fabric-wrapped wire, and so on. So I would say to build it EXACTLY like it was would cost more than $5B.

  • I can't imagine how much work they exerted just for one movie... Titanic really deserved the crdits

  • just for the movie..wow

  • it's little than the real titanic

  • no - 1:1

  • no real titanic is 20 meters longer

  • Actually it was built to scale, they just never finished the port side, they added that graphically for the movie

  • is she still there :p

  • omg!

this was build for the movie titanic in 1996

  • that has to be one of the biggest movies sets in history

  • in the time of the titanic there was no color camera in the world how could they have filmed that in color

  • hey dum dum it was the movie set they used in 1996 for james camerons film.

  • lmao you just have to laugh at people like that :P

  • lol im sorry but thats just inexcusable...its common sense over everything

  • agreed

  • you silly one! =) this is when they were building a repilca! can't u see the cranes! they didnt have cranes back then in those days in Belfast Ireland! if u actually look up, building it was much much much harder, and the ship is engolfed in a massive iron cage like thing when it was getting built!

  • Think that verson of the Titanic is big? Thats only 3/4 of the size of the real Titanic.

  • well its the same size as the titanic is, everythings to scale they just too off two 50 foot sections that they didnt need...so its not 3/4 the size, its the same size with different lengths

  • of course it didnt take 45 omg if you watch it it is all sped up reli reli fast so you can see how they was building it

  • isnt this the one they made for the james horner titanic movie?????

  • james horner? O.o

  • ya he made the movie "TITANIC" and its a good movie.

  • its james cameron and no its not

    lol

  • of course it didn't take 45 seconds i wouldn't want to sit here and whatch it in like regular motion it would be for days ide rather fast foward it

  • i know for a fact it did not tack 45 seconds

  • kingsley306 and gamerachine your both wrong the queen mary 2 is the biggest in the world in todays time!!! and thats a fact!

  • well hey the fact is that she was great ship and she lost her life and the pplz on her lost her life R.I.P titanic and your crew members

  • Nice change of topic Boston Guy haha You're right though, it was a tragedy. An awful awful tragedy that could have been avoided.

  • Guys, this was for the movie Titanic made in 97, they sunk it too. Just Buy the titanic bonus dvd

  • i heard the titantic was so big that they couldnt get it out of the shipin yard or sumthin and i heard it was suppose to be the unsunkable ship of its time and it was the biggest ship of its time back in the 1900's and 1920's it was amazein ship imagen if that ship was still here wit us in 2008 man u couldnt even put that thing in museum is 2 fuckin big

  • Bostonguy01-

The Titanic was the largest ship in her time but quickly superseded by other ships in terms of size and grander. If she had made it to the 1920s she would've still been a large ship but not the largest. And I imagine that if the Titanic had never sank and was still around there would be little interest in her or the old ocean liners. Her disaster is what has made so many people interested in ships!

  • i have 2 disagree i mean think of it titanic was the first luxury liners of her time she was the biggest 2 and i think she still be the biggest now and i think if she was here wit us like at musuem or sumthin i bet alot of pplx would have interest i mean come on it was the first cruise ship for cryin out loud wit out her we wouldnt start a cruise ship companys lol

  • Wrong, wrong and wrong. The Titanic was NOT the first luxury liner and definitely un-original. There were other ships at the time that rivaled her like the Lusitania and Mauretania and of course there was her identical sister, Olympic. She wasn't the first 'cruise ship' either. What gave you that idea? She wasn't a cruise ship at all! She was built for the North Atlantic run not the Caribbean! haha

  • who has time to know all this?

  • She was build as a cruise liner but u r right she was not the first of her time

  • No. She definitely was not a cruise liner. She was an ocean liner which is distinctly different.

  • The QE2 is the biggest ship in the world now

  • no QE2 IS NOT THE BIGGEST SHIP IN THE WORLD FUKTARD!!! The knock nevis is

  • No at this point in time the QE2 is

  • Queen Mary 2 is the largest ocean liner...Knock Nevis is the largest tanker ship and Genesis is the largest cruise ship

  • The Tiatinc may not have survived to today because she would have rusted and she would have been scraped like all other ships of her time.

  • Titanic sunk in 1912

  • titanic is quite small by todays standards. If it didnt sink in 1912, i doubt it would have survived two world wars and decades at sea. Would have probably been scrapped in the 30's if not sooner. Its tragic demise insured its place in history as a legend, without that, would have been just another big piece of scrap iron.

  • Rekkapower is right.

  • Yes thats true. Titanic would have been a name on a list along with Olympic and Mauretania. Who knows what would have happened in the First World War...she coulda been sunk too. Would of been nice to have seen Olympic, Titanic and Britannic (would she have been Gigantic...I think so) together as Ocean Liners.

  • titanic momorial crossing from southamton to new york 2012. Have you heard?

  • wouldnt it be cool if they built the whole thing again?

  • yes they are you fuckin retard

  • This is available on the 4-disc set of Titanic DVD special edition. Surely this is not allowed to be placed on here?

Oh well, not my problem. I must say the full version is longer than this and shows some superb stuff!

  • guys there making a new one.

  • Lol no they are not lol

  • yeah they are. its gonna set sail in 2012. as a memorial for the lifes that were lost 100 years earlier.

  • How do you knowAnd are people going on it And i knew they were doing sumthing for them in 2012 =)

  • They have been talking about it for around 10 years. The ship will closely resemble the original titanic expect it would be more "green" (meaning, products that help the environment) and gas powered lifeboats.... the ship will then stop at the spot where the ship sank and a moment of science will be given. around 1500 seconds or so..... idk how long that is but you get the idea

  • What If It Sinks?! Haha :)

  • didnt know that as far as i know they were not building it cuz its would cost millions

  • Gonzc900-

There will be no Titanic 2 by 2012, it's all just a rumor. The rumor, I suppose, first started in 1998 with a small article in Popular Mechanics which said that two recently merged companies were planning on building a Titanic 2. Anyhow, it ended up being a scam so... yeah. And besides, would a Titanic 2 really be a good idea? In my opinion it would be disrespectful to all those who died. On the other hand, I would not be opposed to an Olympic 2 ;)

  • its to smal to be the titanic

  • its the movie set

  • This is not the real Titanic. It is the film one. This ship is actually smaller than the real titanic and the film's construction crew only built one side of the ship and used different camera angles to create a port and starboard illusion.

  • this is from the movie Titanic, its the model, not the real one..

  • idk but they re makeinga titanic 2 same shipbut beter

  • is this true or what ??

  • they built another one?

  • its the actual ship from the movie

  • lol thats not the real titanic. They wear building that midel for the movie titanic. Peace
