  • I learned to play this piece just by watching this video. Thank you.

  • 0:24 HEY!! doesn't count if your playing off a teleprompter!!

  • Your tone makes me cry (in the best way possible)

  • you look like a mute person trying to communicate with your guitar :O

  • una linda cancion de segundo año es esta y claro la use para rendir el final

    carcassi one of the best

  • Slow down dude. This piece is not meant to be played in hyperspace. It's loses emotion being played so fast.

  • u need donations? i would spend all my allowance to donate. :)

  • bien men pero cambiale la dijitacion para que no te trastee en pequeños paisajes.

  • wow that's a beautyful guitar, nice playing man.

  • i like how you presented the video - with the 3 separate modules -- helps in learning the song and it's aesthetically pleasing!

  • @epit0me Modules? Wtf is that? Sounds like your mom's pussy.

  • @warrkrymez wtf are you talking about? do you not know what a module is? look it up in the dictionary.

  • the best interpretation of the 7 stude that i´ve heard

  • Hail dogtooth!

  • Wonderful!!!!

  • Beautiful, very useful to listen for beginners and to see your hands too! Thanks!

  • That guitar is awsome! Who makes it?

  • I love this piece, it's full of passion and drama. Have you ever play anything of the pieces from Antonio Lauro? He was my music, and choir teacher in school when I was growing up in Venezuela. Thanks for your music

  • nice guitar !!!

  • I can play this...but only about half as fast as this guy. Amazing!

  • This is superb. Not only is it excellent technically with a brilliant view of both hands but the sound is musical and played with feeling and understanding and that is not something you achieve by practice, you have to be born with a musical soul. Bravo

  • Isn't that Allegro?

  • wow are you people serious! 5/5!! thats crazy, this was not that good

  • wooow look at those fingers, they're like magic!!!

  • your videos are getting better

  • Good performance. A little Sloppy though, could use more passion. My teacher, who holds a PhD in Classical Guitar and Music Theory , went over this piece with me... man he beat me up so badly till I got it down... not the technically part but the emotional. The piece is Allegro but I argued that this piece, even though allegro, has a melodic sense that needs to be played a little slower. To me this piece is not a technical excercise... but what do I know, I've been a rock shred guitarist for 14y

  • @trimetaler haha i think the same as you! When i started learning this piece i was playing very slowly and it as very beautiful! now i play it faster (less than in the video lol) it's a good tremolo and arpeggio exercise but even if it is a study it have a lot of emotion in it...

  • @trimetaler good point.

  • Прекрасно.Very nice job!!

  • How was the video made?

Was it shot with three cameras at the same time?

  • this was recomended for me right next to roland dyens.....

  • Wonderful playing, and very informative having the split screen as you've set it up - thanks for this excellent post!

  • I like your style.

especially your right hand-work is great.

Right now i'm working on the second part of this etude and it's really, really hard.

    Thumbs up :)

    Greetings from germany

PS: you guitar sounds kinda "hard". those don't happen to be metal-strings, do they? maybe it's just bad sound-quality.

  • What a beautiful guitar!!!!

  • @antievil777

I was going to say the same. What must the drawing be made of, marquetry or painting? It looks like nacre. A real beauty.

  • Beautiful song and guitar :)

  • I love the strong bassline... very clever piece

  • Amazingly brilliant. What else can you say?

  • this is wrong, carcassi shouldn't be played like that

  • Like how? When criticizing, try to be constructive.

  • @njevren

this piece is played "allegro" hence this is the pace.

  • @njevren Try be more constructive. How exactly should it be played then? If you're referring to the tempo at which John plays then I'm sure he's well aware that it's faster than usual, probably to better complement John's "spanish" style of playing. But he's an excellent musician and, in my opinion, can afford to be flexible in the way he interprets songs.

  • @ajrmoore Is it really necessary to "complement John's playing" (I think you meant "compliment")? Is that why his videos are on YT - just to get a lot of compliments? Criticism of his is well placed. He changes his timing - speeds up and slows down - irregularly throughout the piece. The right hand attack is also rather inconsistent. It's not bad, but nothing special. If people cannot accept constructive criticism, they should keep their videos off Youtube.

  • very good play, but what about the sound?? according to my opinion its too metallic.. just an opinion

  • ur kidding me right? this dude rocks

  • I can play this song in presto

  • Dingy dingy dingy dingydingy diiiiiinnng ding ding ding ding dingy ding diiiiiiiiiiiiing da da diiing! Classical guitars are nice to play ;-) im to busy watching youtube vids to play a guitar

  • your playing it wrong xD

  • im thinking of doing the same thing and at 0:20 there is no repeat but it sounds better with a repeat

  • love it:)

  • you are super tense

  • Beautiful. Sadly, I can't say I can play it anywhere near as well or as fast as you can.

  • you think this is fast watch and listen to john jarvie's version....

  • my favorite carcassi etude. I like to play it slower than you do. I think it sounds nicer.

  • nice !

  • i am your biggest fannn:)

  • excellent

  • Nice job John.

Your playing is progressing a lot!

  • PROGRESSING?

    look his fingers position

  • great

  • truly incredible! phenomenal finger picking skills.. keep up the great work my friend.

  • I love this so much. Tricky stuff with the video too! But your music is very special.

  • There's a few places where the pedal is slurred, very nice overall though.

  • Bravo!!

  • Excellent! I just got a Cordoba Cadete and really like it. Probably not the best guitar ever but it suits me really nicely.

  • I spent most of my guitar money on a G&L L-2000 USA Bass, but I did have enough left to buy myself a nice Takamine classical guita that I get to showcase next week in a live show :)

  • You are an amazing musician! Really enjoyed this piece!

  • this IS study #7 from Carcassi's opus 60.. and the left hand is kinda hard to watch

  • your plucking hand is very fluent and flowing whereas mine is very clumsy and bearly following. Bravo

  • #9 not #7 :)

  • #7

    definitly

  • Isn't this #7?

  • no its number 9

  • are these tabs available?

  • perfect

  • the thumb is alrite with the thumb, but i guess it caused him because of the thumb, but is it his flow of left hand and his gripping position? i don't know anything, i am criticizing, i just hope to learn more since i am new too, i cant stop viewing this song, love it!

  • is his left hand abit, erm not to say wrong..but i love ur play wonderful!

  • ive learnt to play whateva sounds good, dont fuss if his left thumb is showing or if he tends to slide. At least it sounds good.

  • Good! But work your technic ; your left hand is hawful.

  • your spelling is Hawful (awful)

  • Dont get me wrong, this guy is a good player and I like what he has done so far but there is place for improvement as for my spelling in English.

  • lol, i'm just messing with you. I agree. This guys is really good. But his left hand is "technically" incorrect.

  • Technically no it isn't, because technically there is no right or wrong way to play guitar, there's ways that might be easier or more well known but everyone has they're own playing style. Also as long as he is comfortable playing like that then who cares?

  • technically, his left hand is no the correct way to play hard etudes, but if he can play it in that way and it's sounds good, it don't care the technic.

  • who cares if it's incorrect as long as he hits the notes perfectly?

  • Awesome video work!

  • Hey I love your your music but this is actually carcassi #7

  • Beautiful, sensual, soothing & flawless; love it!

  • 很用心哦!谢谢!Thank U!

  • man u need to give me some lessons for playing like that. i can play a simpler version of another song like this. a sorry vid is on my profile...

  • I love the sound M8 :o) Nice playing... Will browse your other vids. soon... By the way: Can you please tell me how to make a vid like that? What software do you use to split into 3 "screens" And of cause you used 3 cams right? (or played it all 3 times) :o) Wanna learn to edit a vid. that way... Hope to hear from you, regards Kraft! Keep up the love for music!

  • What's the difference between Carcassi #7 and Carcassi #9?

  • hey John, it's my first Etude! =) i know it!!!

    great!

    P.S.

    Beautiful Guitar!

  • Excellent ! Great interpretation and sound ! Just notice that it is not The 9th but the 7th study by Carcassi (op60).

  • What speed are you playing at?

  • The three-angle video is great! Perfect for a strings artist of any kind. Thanks for the hard work you put into making this video.
